So the church has a car park, and you're visiting the church or it's grounds, but you cannot use the car park.. Then what is the car park for.. You should have asked her..
She works for the church > voluntary or is a local to the area who has been given a power trip ego. I think people would like to know what's the church called and then write to them or the church diocese to find out why people visiting cannot use the car park.
      Plus shame her as well.

Paul, having worked in the funeral business for years, I really think that there was possibly a funeral service going to take place. The cones, where the funeral car signs were. The gate would be locked for mourners cars. The main giveaway is that is looked like there were 'Reserved' notices on the front pews, which is very normal in a church funeral service. That would explain her panic in closing the gate, but not her rudeness. She could have just said we are expecting funeral/mourners cars. As for the sign that the church was open - no-one will be turned away from a church (just the car park) regardless of the service.
    Just a strong possibility.
Excellent video as usual. I even have a new clarinet waiting for me to learn it, inspired by Acker Bilk x

Acker Bilk, Brother Dave Bilk, was a neighbour of mine, in Bristol. Dave at on time was Ackers manager.
Dave, told me Acker, and Dave, jokingly referred to Stranger on the shore, being Stranger on the floor.
Anyway, both were brought up by their widowed Mother, in Pensford, near Bath.
Unfortunately Dave, passed away a few years ago ( nearly 90 years of age )
    anyway, peace to all !!

I really loved Acker Bilks music, never saw him in films cos I was a toddler, but saw him on tv playing loads of times. He was a very special man, great musician.. he fought cancer a lot but it didn't take him out I'm happy to say.. His wife passed 5 years after Acker, I bet she wanted to be with him, childhood sweethearts together til the end and then for eternity. This was lovely Paul thank you so much..He was a top man for sure. It's weird cos depending where you live Acker meant friend. To us up North we alway called someone a mucky Acker so here it meant sod, bugger thing ,mainly mucky bugger lol this was really good Paul..you are amazing ❤xxx

Love the tune, "Stranger On The Shore" to this day. Haunting and sweet, it brings back so many memories.

I almost expected someone to jump out at you in the church, but what a lovely resting place for Acker Bilk and his wife in the churchyard and a great memorial stone.Loved 'Stranger on the Shore ' not known anyone since to play the clarinet like him.
    Thanks Paul most enjoyable watch.

Hi Paul, nice to see that enjoying the West Country, have seen Acker Bilk playing live outside The Llandoger Trow Pub in Bristol when there was a jass festival on some years ago now and I was a Very Memorable evening Amazing to see him playing live, an evening I will never forget, he died at the Bath RUH.

We used to swim in the river and jump off of that bridge in Publow which is a tiny village three quarters of a mile from Pensford also a small village but a great place to live

Another good one - If you turned up at my door … 😂😂 - Ackerman Bilk was a great musician, loved by many, - although my tastes are more recent, quite happy to put some of his music on, it’s happy, clean and uncomplicated. What a great place to be interred with a nice poem.

In the mid 80’s when I was in Germany with the RAF, myself and some of the lads went into Düsseldorf for a night out. We walked past a sign advertising Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band appearing that very night and pointing toward a Jazz Club situated in the corner of a dead end pedestrian alley! Unfortunately we didn’t go to see him!

Classic melody, forever remembered from my early teens. Thanks Paul for the blog. Who was the grumpy jobs worth? Lost half a finger, didn't know about that, but adapted and played the clarinet beautifully.
