The major concern is that there may be bacteria present in the water, so the recommendation is that you boil tap water 1-3 minutes and then let it cool to room temp. It should be good to use at that point.

Hi good video. I have had nasal infection for the last 4 years. The last year i cannot sleep because the headaches are so severe and even if i do manage to drift off the headache wakes me up constantly and that`s with painkillers inside of me. I am constantly exhausted and in pain. My doctors know of my sinus problem yet all they keep giving me is nasal sprays which i think have now made it worse,I have a strong awful smell in my nose that makes me feel sick. Please can you advise what i can do?if a nasal rinse may help? I am so depressed because of it, Thankyou shaz
My allergies also make me very depressed, my nose is constantly congested and the doctors don't seem to be able to do anything other than give me sprays that don't work, and there's no ENT in my part of the country : (
If you feel your congested then u might have deviated nasal septum. Which doctors use to fix it with septoplasty operation . I have done yesterday. And they told me to rinse nose from tmrw as today it is bleeding somewhat . ❤❤
I was so congested that I would squeeze the bottle, but just a trickle would come pour of the open nostril, then I'd tellremove the bottle and every drop would come out of that open nostril. Switch sides, get some flow, then plug up from the mucus that was dislodged. Allergies hit me hard and I can tell when I'm getting a sinus infection from it. Due to the BeerVirus, I didn't go get an antibiotic. This time it's as bad as I've ever had. So, after 2 rinses a day with an isotonic solution, it's finally clearing out the pus. It helped to take a sudafed about an hour prior to get the inflammation to reduce. Ugh, the smell of that drainage. Yuck. In all, I should do this to help clear my sinuses during allergy season or when I'm working outside. Going to ask my dr if sinusplasty is a good option for me.
I did it after my septoplasty since my doctor told me to do it. I couldn’t smell or taste food after I did it for a while. Idk if I did it wrong but I’m confused.
I went and bought this gear and did as you say, but now when lying on my bed or sun bed I feel constant ooze from back of nose.. making me feel the need to swallow. Any advice please?
After the rinse, keep your head down and turn your head from side to side to drain excess rinse from nasal nooks and crannies. Then blow your nose while leaning again from side to side with your head down. It helps me.
Been following every step. It just doesn't seem to work for me. If anything I feel pressure in either of my nostrils and I would have to cease cause I feel like I'm going to hurt myself if I don't. It feels like both nostrils are blocked.
Lil Miss G I recently had surgery for removal of nasal polyps. I now have to do this rinse twice a day for the rest of my life to try to prevent reoccurrence
AmericanRZ0479 Compared to other people’s health problems, it’s a tiny thing. Although the rinse is not fun, ny nose feels open and clean afterwards. Could be the 1/2 tsp of baby shampoo I have to add to the mixture LOL!
I hadn’t heard of it either, but there is research showing that adding the baby shampoo to the saline rinse helps in reducing sinusitis! My Dr. Instructed me to add it and my nose has been completely clear for two months now. I highly recommend the saline rinse, you get used to it, it has quickly become part of my AM and PM routine.
I have used this numerous times and it only works about 10% of the time, I would say about 50% of the time it seems to make no difference, but around 40% of the time it actually makes congestion worse. My nose gets SO blocked, and I get SO desperate that I sometimes take the risk of making it worse for the possibility of some relief, but tonight luck was not on my side and it has made my congestion worse : (
In case it's still helpful to you, my GP advised that you can make your own sea salt solution. The packets in the video are portioned so that when mixed with the correct amount of water, they're about the same saltiness as the mucous already in the sinuses (this is so that they don't cause much unpleasant sensation). In some cases you may wish to use a saltier solution (eg to reduce inflammation/soreness/mucous production) but it will sting a little. Sea salt is advised because table salt often contains anti-caking agents, and other salts aren't appropriate because of their trace contents. I'm not a doctor, but Dettol sounds like a bad idea for such a delicate, sensitive area. I'm not often one for home remedies, but salt water has fantastic medicinal properties when used like in this video, and also as a mouth rinse or throat gargle. Of course, always consult your doctor and follow their advice when you can.
I just started using it and I was shocked that there was no pain. The first time I used it there was some discomfort because I used water that was too cool, but the second time with warmer water was a pretty neutral experience. It can be painful if you use it improperly- you can't use it with a completely blocked nostril or with certain ear conditions/infections.
Unfortunately this system doesn't work if one or both of your nostrils are plugged and it can cause a lot of discomfort. You need some airflow for it to work.
It’s possible that some of the solution entered your maxillary sinuses. The opening (Ostia) to the maxillary sinus is located on the top (superior) border. The only way to drain water from these sinuses is to tilt ones head to position the Ostia lower than the rest of the sinus.
