- Hello everyone! I have no idea why this took me 5 million years to finally post! But here it is, a little Edwardian bedroom inspo! My room is obviously still a work in progress (and my plants were going through a little Dry Spell) but I figured I'd try to give a little aesthetic help for those who asked on my blog!
Tumblr: @my-darling-boy
Instagram: @slightly_teddy
Damn, how does this dude only have three videos? I love how he's got a similar video aesthetic as folks like Rachel Maksy and Bernadette Banner but for mens fashion which is often neglected cause it's not always as flashy. Looking forward to more videos
YAAAAAAAAAAS!!!!!
I was thinking this too! Uploaded 5 videos then vanished 😭😭😭
Its so amazing to see someone young and a male, take such a interest and respect in this time period. Usually the channels i see dedicated to this era are women.
In my opinion, the Edwardian and Victorian era was the most beautiful time for fashion and home decor ❤️👍 The 20s and 30s was stunning too as i love the art deco look as well👍
Algorithm has clearly done me A solid. Outstanding.
Same!
I’m completely enamoured ❤
Very nicely done. You do wonderfully as you present the information. Just one minor correction: nearly all of the information you present about the Edwardian Era pertains to what we restorationists, museum curators, and historical researchers would call the "Late Victorian Era" from 1870 on.
While it's very fashionable to disparage the Victorian Era, and I accept that some may rightly do so, it's somewhat unfortunate when one uses facts of the Victorian Age, attribute them to a later age, and, stripped of these truths, the Victorian Age is thereupon inaccurately judged.
Germ theory, electricity, indoor plumbing, linoleum, early plastics, bright colours, open windows, large rooms, the moderation of clutter, the elimination of dead bugs (!), community parks, row houses, living in communities of like-minded people, the remediation of dry rot (?), and Art Nouveau were things for which the Victorians were well known. Let's also remember the Edwardian Era, of 10 yrs, was not long enough to have made much of a change in what it borrowed from the Victorians. Though I have to say the clothing fashion was quite spiffy.
YES! Thank you!~
Who disliked the video? Just want to.. TALK..
My sentiments exactly!
Please make more videos... I would love to see your take on an Edwardian livingroom.
I love everything -literally EVERYTHING- about you, your style, your aesthetic, your videography, your editing, your entire vibe..... except the ums. Only! except the ums or uhs. But thank you for this video. Amazing.
❤❤❤ this. My house is decorated in “ Hey Grandma! Can I have that?” And either I redid it or had it done professionally. I’ve already incorporated some of your great ideas regarding pictures etc. My house is more 1920’s because that is when my grandparents got their furniture. I personally feel that second hand is the way to go. So much of that furniture still has so much use left in it. Done with the right accents, it looks great. Thanks!
Please make another video. Please please. Do u have any recommendations for a channel that has anyone actually sewing Edwardian style menswear
Nice room! I love that Teddy Bear with his canotier hat!
Been thinking about having Edwardian decor lately and this was very informative! Thank you!
Lots of inspiration! Really enjoyed you sharing your finds! Like your style and cool to learn about how you are modifying your clothes for your stature as another short guy of 5'4".
My house is decorated in Victorian/ Edwardian/ little bit of Cottage Core thrown in. I came to see what your designs were like, I love to watch other people's styles in the same bracket at mine to see if there is something different they have done compared to mine and get ideas. The biggest thing is if people study those time periods, study antiques it is easier to spot the Era and I've noticed so many people think the Victorian and Edwardian time periods are exactly the same thing, I bought gloves that are silk, embossed with decoration lines but they have snaps from 1908( which is a year I find pops up often in my life) but they were marked Victorian, they are Edwardian and fairly almost in the middle to the end of the Edwardian Era. Anyhow looking, finding and buying these things takes years and you eventually get an eye for it, the only one that sort of throw me off is vintage Avon, they do a fairly good job of recreation, so if you can't afford antiques things that mimic are just as good, better to go authentic antiques, but if you can't there are many good reproductions or inspired by the Eras.
I just now found your channel, and your content is absolutely delightful!! This video was certainly helpful, I'm thinking to re-arrange my space a bit now. Your voice is also very soothing haha. Keep up the astounding work! Hope you're doing well!
We have the same record player!!! Great video. I've always found it hard to pinpoint how to put my oldtimey stuff together in a cohesive manner (rather than looking like someone's attic). This was very helpful!
Love history, love Edwardian era, love this video! Keep it up!
Make a brown paper book cover for your modern bright books and do not forget to write the name of the book on the spine area of the cover and then you are not only Edwardian but organized. You can also use Edwardian styled pieces of wrapping paper and or wall paper ...the really old fashioned kind without paste, or print your own "wall paper" patterned paper, at your local print shop . There are tons of copy right free patterns available on line, or available in Publications by Dover.
Recently finished a book on Edwardian architect recommended by Ben Pentreath--It is such an interesting period. Love that you are doing this video.
Boys are always a nice addition to a bedroom.
Love your Titanic poster--I'm a Titanic enthusiast myself.
My parents and my grandparents were antique collectors and so I am too haha, your passion for the edwardian era is beautiful.
Very informative and fun to watch. Your room is an oasis of calm in our hectic lives and seems to reflect the personality of the owner.
I am very pleased to have stumbled upon your channel and I am very much looking forward to more of your videos.
I do not know if the glasses are on affectation or a necessity, however, the reflection in the lenses is an unnecessary distraction.
Brilliant... and now I definitely know what style /taste my home is...Thank you... definitely a new subscriber...✌️😊✨
Very interesting and well done video
Loved your bedroom and ideas
Would have loved a loungeroom video
Very happy to see something new from you!
Alastair: says "might" like *that*
Me, Scottish: r u makin fun of me :( haha
This was so interesting! Pooh bear is a very handsome and good boi in his boater hat.
I absolutely enjoy your videos! You deserve much more subscribers&likes!
Ah thank you for making this video, its exactly what I've been looking for! I would love to see more videos like this and your previous one
Jolly good and well done. More please.
Loved this video !! Makes me want to go thrift/antique shopping to spruce up my room !
This is adorable!
Are the TH-cam Algorithm was on your side. New subscriber here. Not many males do these kinds of videos. Hope to see more of your videos about the Edwardian era.
This guy's a sweetie pie, but he's incorrect when he says antiques are "really expensive". All except Mid Century Modern and the decades following that have plummeted, especially "brown furniture". You will be able to get genuine Edwardian era furniture and some accessories for less than new Ikea and furniture stores if you check out antique shops, thrift stores, junk shops, tag and estate sales, auctions. There has never been a better time to buy!
Wonderful content! Your personality and your style is uplifting and wonderful ! :)
My sentiments exactly!
Thank you for this video! I found it very informative and inspiring. Also, I adore the way you did your hair in this video, you are very handsome and well-dressed! This channel is just what I was looking for.
Do you live in the UK? I have just bought my first Edwardian four bed. It has five original fireplaces inside :) I can’t wait to paint & style it. Thank you for this video!
Beautiful room
Love the few videos you have up, but there is a lot of "um" going haha, regardless I hope you continue to upload!
I have a Edwardian home and this was super helpful Thankyou!
I like the bunny pillow, coat hanger and the large Titanic picture the most, I think I have that same Pooh Bear you have in the hat, I also love the pictures, I have many Cabinet Cards, photos, a couple of tin types and I just bought a Daguerreotype in a nice case, the the case is kind of falling apart it was $45, but there was a super nice one for $75, but couldn't justify buying the more expensive one, the only type I think I'm missing now is just the Ambrotype, which I have seen other places but not in my town. If people are looking for antique photographs, the Tin Types, Daguerreotypes and Ambrotypes cost the most anywhere from $40-$100 or more, if you are on a budget look for Cabinet Cards, they are anywhere from $1-$15, depending where you shop or copies of them work too.
The way I gasped at Peaches the Mouse at 9:14
I like your style! You have lots of character with your decor and the windows. How did you learn about all of this?
I'm switching my bedroom style to a more Late Victorian/Edwardian era one. Fortunately, I have a few pictures of my Grandpa (granted the photos are from the 1960s, but oh well...the intentions are good) around, as well as a record player that looks like it's a gramophone from the time. I am currently waiting on a trinket box, and I'm going to restore a 1970s-does-Edwardian lamp. I'm excited to keep going with it.
This is informative and inspirational thank you very much for sharing XX
How do you only have 2 videos? Can't wait to see if you make more!
Thank you for this valuable video!🌿
Omg...he is so cute!
A+ for bear in hat
9:14 so cuteee!
Where have you gone? Will you make any more videos? I hope you are well, Please, consider posting more.
Very interesting and great presentation. Thank you.
You're a rare breed I like it!
Yes, we have to mix it up. It would be a museum otherwise.

Great stye I very much enjoy your videos.
Bright future ahead for you ✨️

lowkey my own room !
Are you still filming? I like your two videos a lot!
I know, I hope he posts more Edwardian stuff.
Are you coming back again?
Hello, keep in mind the glare on your glasses. Maybe use curtains or use a filters to control the lighting. Great video!
I like your teddybear, the one with hat on
I follow you on Tumblr! I didn't realize you had a TH-cam channel! :)
What title has this song from the beginning?
Great ideas, thank you.
One thing--you mentioned that the Edwardian era was before mass production. That is actually inaccurate. The Arts and Crafts Movement (think William Morris fabrics) predated the Edwardian era and was a reaction to the mass production that was occurring in England in the mid 1800s. He, and others, were proponents of the medieval guild system where trained craftsmen dictated and enforced industry standards along with training apprentices. The Victorians also introduced chemical dyes which gave them the saturated, deep, and "unnatural" colors previously either impossible or so expensive only royalty could afford. The Arts and Crafts movement softened and lightened the Victorian color palette, which grew lighter yet under the Edwardian design aesthetic.
that book is expeeeensive....
Wait a minute is that an archway behind you or a mirror? I just noticed that now!
I thought it was an archway too at first, but it’s a mirror. You can see his reflection at 18:17
@@TinLizzie-uc1jw Right :) I also see what seem to be lines down the mirror so I imagine it's like a mirrored closet?
@@morriganharker8655 He did talk about that in the video.
Informative, inspirational:)
Thank you very much
How old are you ? New sub here hello from Ontario Canada! What a wise boy you are! How did you get into this stuff ? Generally curious just wonderful!!
What a great video.
Lovely buddy 🥰🥰🥰
You can edit out all of your "um"s
9:13 What on earth is Peaches the Mouse doing here! Of all the places I would expect to see such a simple mouse from a Tumblr mouse sewing pattern this is the last
He's the one who originally made the Peaches post! :D
Are any of your photos tintypes? Tintypes last very well.
You're an icon
nice specs
hey! I adore your vibe and content, but I noticed that you say 'um' a lot!
It doesn't take away from your beautiful content but I think it might be something to note =)
I can't tell if you're British or not it sounds like you are British but are trying to speak with an American accent or something
Take a shot every time this TH-camr says “umm.”
I'm afraid you have some explaining to do with that German dictionary. Why do you want to know the language of the Kaiser? Whose side are you on?
Love the videos but um could you um please cut back um on the ums, its um quite distracting
I don't see anything Edwardian inspired
