I have 6 different ATV's and I work on them all the time and everything I've learned has been from watching videos like this. I just bought the same snowblower your working on used. First time I went to use it it wouldn't throw anything. The belt was shot.
Thanks for making it easier for me. It only took 15 min because I watched your video.
    Thanks again.

TH-cam is a great resource for learning new things. Glad I was able to help with your project. Cheers

15:44 Thank you for this detailed video. My snowblower always needed the auger control arm to be held down constantly. Now that you showed me this, I'll be able to let it automatically have it properly function from the lack of tension! TY

I have watched another TH-cam video who also explain on how to change these belts as well. You explain it much better than the other videos.

Hey good video shots of the belts changing. This is identical to Craftsman 24 inch I'm changing belts on tomorrow, just wanted to familiarize myself with setup. 2 quick observations.... The belt keeper on these MTD made blowers is actually the black plastic belt cover shroud. Also when the belly pan was off, you can see the hex shaft was lacking lubrication. I always toss a smidge of white lithium grease on that, which really helps in changing gears, your customer will definitely notice that right away. Again, good video, good angles. .

Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I definitely grease the shaft. I don't always film the entire servicing as I have a complete series of videos detailing a complete service. Cheers

Very informative video Gerry! I always like to remove the spark plug before moving any of the pulleys or belts. That way any compression from the engine that may have transferred to the pulleys or belts will be released, minimizing the chance of an accident (and making it a little easier to roll those belts) especially if a person were to put their hands in the auger/impeller areas.

@@brantsmallenginerepairs I thought it important to stress that Gerry because we know how things work but not all viewers do. I've seen many a stumps for fingers over the 50+ years in the snowblowerz business so just trying to give my 2 cents, thanks for letting me! 🤘💥🤟💥✊💥👊💥

TO EVERYONE THAT DOESN'T WANT TO MESS AROUND TAKING THE BELTS OFF YOU CAN CUT THEM OFF AND SAVE A HEADACHE, THEN JUST REPLACE WITH NEW BELTS, GREAT VIDEO THO, THIS IS THE PROPER WAY IF YOU WANT TO SAVE THE BELT.

I would have thought you would of had to loosen the adjustments because new belts would have been tighter, especially people usually tighten them when they get older

Adjust the tension as necessary based on the new belt. Old belt probably could have still been used with a cable tension adjustment. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

I’m 70 years old and have come to the conclusion all snowblowers are junk, just one repair after another, a money sinkhole. I gave up on wasting money on these junkers and I use my trusty shovel.

This would apply to a lot of stuff that is produced these days. The shovelling would definitely be better for your health anyway. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers

Why not cut the belts if you/re changing them, instead of fighting with them.
