Wouldnt it have been awesome if the midden actually went from underground college to underground winterhold. And the great collapse cause the tunnel in between be exposed holes. One a secret way into the college to avoid the magic skillcheck if you pay the fence at the college. Then you could have a dungeon under winterhold maybe entering the inn or jarls longhouse
I would love to see a video on another, fairly rare quest in the Mage's College. Obtaining The Dagger Keening. It has a ton of history, a complex quest and it one of the most unique looking weapons in the game. I could be wrong but I think Mehrunes Razor, The Blade of Woe and Keening are the only daggers that get unique skins.
My archer has a glitch that kills dragons in one shot on accident in the winterhold area. I'm not complaining but give never found out why. If I shoot a dragon there, it dies.
Velehk is one of the funnier random characters in the game i feel. I just love the idea of a Dremora coming to Mundus and being like "Hmm, what shall i do, i know, Pirates are pretty rad, i'll become a pirate" and totally embracing the entire schtick. I'd love to have been able to get Velehk as a follower. He seems like such a lad.
You know, it's things like this that make me love the Elder Scrolls. You're just exploring a random cavern or dungeon, and you stumble across something completely and utterly unique. It immediately grasps your attention, and you can't help but look at the area in a whole new light, searching for the story behind it. And you might never figure it out. You reluctantly leave, vowing to return some day, with whatever you need to unlock the secrets, but unless you're lucky, or particularly observant, you may never find it. The best part? Nothing special led you there. No quest, no dialogue, just honest exploration. If there is one thing I want in TES6, it's secrets like these.
SilerofWorlds I love it, especially when people say Bethesda games have a bad story, I always say all of its story telling is hidden and you have to find it your self Certainly gives it it's own atmosphere
Oh god... wow I think that's the first time I've heard of someone leaving a unique item because they didn't need it. That actually kind of hurt my feelings a little bit.
Actually, Blackbeard had mercy. He made sure people would fear him so they wouldn't bother to fight him. This made his raids fairly bloodless affairs as people would just surrender and leave him be.
Too bad it ain't the reward for killing the prince it be far more beneficial for us than letting him go free and getting nothing but gold and trinkets with a few crappy items in the chest
Two ideas for videos you could make: 1. Taking about why the Spider/Sphere you can get in Kagrumez are friendly, and follow you, all while understanding commands such as Wait here, or Go home. If you pay careful attention to the subtitles, they even seem to understand emotion. Never seen anyone touch the topic before. 2. Who the hell Kahnorhiik is. You know, the mask you acquire after collecting every other dragon priest mask and bringing them to Labarynthian. I've seen one video by Graenolf so far but it was mostly speculation, and I'd love to see your take on it.
There is a really cool set of mods that explore Konahriik but they're not really canon. Also i believe the 'friendly' Dwarven automatons have something to do with the Dragonborn carrying the Resonance Gems for that Ruin.
Education of that level takes extra effort to obtain, though. No doubt he spends some time getting savy with word use and play. I loved his use in one vid of Red-Guardless.
Jomackson seriously? Education of that level? I'm a high school drop out and I didn't have to take any "extra effort" to achieve that level of education. Maybe you just have a small vocabulary or struggle to process words in quick succession. No wonder America is so dumb. Everyone should be able to talk more like camel. Communication is important.
I have an idea for a potential video! As I was replaying Skyrim for the nth time, I ran across the dungeon Forelhost. This time I decided to go a bit slower and look at things, and there's quite a bit to be found! I didn't see any videos about the story behind it, but what a story it is! A high elf named captain Valmir requests that the player gets the dragon priest mask Rahgot on behalf of the Empire for the war effort. Inside, you can find a journal from the 1st era. Lord Harold, who would later rise to become the High King of Skyrim, was in a struggle with the Snow Elves and happened upon Forelhost--the last bastion of the Dragon Cult. The journal goes on to say Harold's siege of the fortress was ruined by a sudden storm, and they sent word for a "Voice master." This Voice master broke through the walls but subsequently took an arrow in the neck. The journal author then says he will join those in Sovngarde (might this Voice master be a Graybeard or Dragonborn?). The day after they broke through the main gate, the soldiers entered the fortress, but a great many of the Dragon Cultists were already dead. The Cultists had collapsed the passageway to the refectory (where Rahgot can be found). In doing so, they create a large labyrinth for any invader to navigate through. The Cultists poisoned their own water supply, explaining the poison bottles juxtaposed to the copious bodies which lie lifeless on the floors (an event not entirely dissimilar from Heaven's Gate). The soldiers also drank this, felling scores of them. The ghosts still linger, protecting the last stronghold for the Dragon Cult. In one room, three burnt bodies can be found. One of them wears the famous "dragonborn helmet." Perhaps this is the Voice master? It's also worth noting that a bow can be found near a body next to him with three arrows on the ground. Nevertheless, as you pick a master lock and traverse a small cave to get near the refectory, you will notice a stunning amount of bodies. Literally piles of bodies stacked on top of one another and one room has ten or more burial urns. I suspect this is the result of the sacrifices the cult made to sustain a barrier that would last for "decades" or more, as said in the journal. The library has all of its books burned save for three (that I saw): Legions of the Dead, The Light & the Dark, and The Path of Transcendence. I read each of these and only saw tenuous connections at best. You defeat Rahgot, and move outside. Here, you can learn one of the three parts to Storm Call--fitting that (arguably) the best shout be at the last fortress for the Cult. This is undoubtedly connected to the sudden storm which stalled the army's siege. You jump down and find that captain Valmir is now dressed as a stormcloak officer! He will turn aggressive. On his body is a note stating that the mask should be retrieved and brought to Labyrinthian. This message is from the Thalmor. This means that the Thalmor both know that a dragon priest mask is at the location and that the dragon priest masks are collected at Labyrinthian to reveal the "macho" mask. Fascinating weaving of stories is done at this location! Definitely something worth looking into! Edit: wow I'm glad that so many of you appreciated the environmental storytelling that I picked up on! Thanks, everyone!!
Zach Nightingale - I doubt you will see this, since Daggerfall has already come out. I'd be very surprised if they made another game 'set' in hammerfell, but that would be very cool
No, he'd be a villain. One, pirates are bad people. Romantic tales do not do anything but cover sinister people who kill for their own keep. Should I go kill Wallstreeters and give 10% to poor people to become "idealistic"? Also he will be back to his ruthless antics, killing so many and releasing him is a profit, but he will have a hand in the empire's further decline.
Would be cool to join his crew, like in other guilds. Due to his immortality, he would be like the Night Mother to pirates. Would make interesting game play as well as lore. Plus, hoping to have that gauntlet as an extra Daedric Artifact which allows you to wear four rings instead of one.
LOVED THIS! Found the gauntlet while exploring during the questline for the College of Winterhold. I assumed it was part of something or a reference but I thought it may have been a nod to something I didn't get. Very exciting to realize how many layers go into this game! I look forward to more mysteries being unraveled by you!
ironically id found the rings first and was moderately confused until the gauntlet let me put them on but i didnt use the right combination so nothing happened and i went on my way still pretty confused about the whole thing
I don't think Velehk can just come to Mundus at will...as with most daedra, it certainly appears that he has to be summoned. In ESO, Molag Bal is able to summon him via the same means as his creation of the dark anchors. In Skyrim, he was obviously summoned by the four students that were killed in the attempt. If you kill him, he can come back but only if he is summoned. It's obviously a better moral decision to kill him so as to stop his bloody pirating for at least a while.
Hell have to fight a few daedra princes for it and do a bit of remodeling cuz the daedra remodeled it into a better looking and more fitting look for destruction caose and obliteration
Rhetorical Paradox The eye of Magnus wasn’t even there at the time, how could it cause the collapse? Odds are those pups tried to bind Valehk and ended up bumfucking winterhold tremendously, after all,Valehk is obviously an incredibly powerful daedra.
Honestly, I really hope he shows up again later. The very concept of a daedric pirate is amazing, and I feel like with some additional fleshing out Velehk could be a truly awesome villain.
Met him couple of years ago and managed to survive the first encounter despite being a weak 1 spell-pony mage, so it was memorable. I thought it was supposed to be a kind of demon making deals in a lose-lose situation so never bothered to chose the dialog options that "play along" and just kept killing him. Next time I start a game I will just run straight to the College and release the bugger, so I can rest for the rest of the game knowing my house is proudly adorned by a golden Dibella statue, and it's not stolen (by me, at least)
One thing I love about this game is that you can actually find the four people who were performing that ritual around Winterhold, though there's little reason to do so. It looks like it was planned that there would be a quest to find them because of their unique items, the detail to their death scenes, and the dialogue option about their magic endeavors that never goes away. One of them died using flame magic and you can take her specially named Silver Necklace off her charred corpse, another tried to do some scroll magic with skeevers and they ate him alive, one is dead in a cave, and the last one is hard for me to recall but I think he's just laid out on some ice or something equally uninteresting. They all have a unique item on or around them, and their deaths are related to the school of magic they specialized in or the goal they had back at the college. The cave and ice corpse guys wanted to make magically chilled mead, for example.
Releasing an immortal daedric pirate king after making a deal with him, there’s no possible way that could go wrong. If that doesn’t bite you in the ass in the next elder scrolls game I’m going to be very surprised
I think that the midden is full of dark magic and the colege was built there I also think that one of the archmages killed the students becouse he was worshiping the daedra
Oh? What makes you say the college was built on the midden? What ever gave you that idea? Maybe the fact that it is? Woahhhhhh Quit making geralt cringy
I love this series so much! Learning more about elder scrolls is so interesting. Also love watching the elder scrolls detective series to sleep to, your voice is just so calming.
Could you do a video on the dead body found in a closet in the Hall of Attainment in Winterhold Or speculate on who keeps sending Dark Brotherhood assassins after the Dragonborn
I thought it was common knowledge that Astrid was the one to send DB assassins after the player for stealing the Grelod kill, and does so until the player sleeps and starts the DB Questline.
This is not true,I'm replaying the game as of right now and I have not killed grelod or even spoke to Aventus Aretino and I have fought several assassin's of the brotherhood and they always carry the note saying someone has performed the black sacrament and wants me dead.
I'd imagine the pirates talking about the Pirate King as something to fear, stories about a ship from Oblivion to scare the young sailors, reciting the poem in the night by the campfires. Just like Davy Jones or something like that.
I did not know there was a dremora pirate! That is so cool. Though, what does he use the gold for? Pretty much everyone will give him anything he wants because he's a dremora.
I always found the description of conjurer's burn really interesting. It gives the game some more depth that isn't usually seen, since you just can't cast spells above your level, let alone be damaged by them. Demonic entities being super passionate about something fairly normal and human, like sea piracy, is also something I love so much. I can imagine rogue dremora being the source of all kinds of warrior legends. Also, did you ever think of the imaginary consequences of setting this brutal scourge of a densely traveled ocean free again? The kids who died to seal him were heroes
Well, one is an immortal Dremora whose had over a millennium to hone his craft, while the other is...quite dead, along with most of his crew. I'm going to go with Velehk.
I knew about this thanks to ESO’s video on Scimitars. Thank you ESO, CamelWorks, and Fudgemuppet for my great knowledge of the Elder Scrolls secrets and lore.
Hey, Camel. How about doing a video or series of videos on all of the Dwemer Mechanisms in the ruins. Like in Mzinchaleft, for example. I believe you need the Lexicon for it, but I've always wanted to see all of them and what secrets they hide and it sounds like it'd be right up your alley. Kindest Regards, VladimirCR
What I’m mad about is before I ever entered the Midden, I saw the rings, took them, and after a while of keeping them I sold them to a random shop keeper, but never remembered which one and never saw them again lmao. After I read that book I tried to buy them back, but never saw them again
You know whats weird is that they used the main imperial voice actor from Oblivion (that played Lucien) to voice the Dremora beneath the college, but to my memory voicing Dremora is the only place they used him. Weird considering how many voices he played in Oblivion
I wouldn't say killing him is pointless. You remove a huge threat, and banish him for years. That makes people that much more safe while he is gone. The real pointless thing would be to release him and take the treasure. All you get is a bunch of randomized loot that you had too much of anyway, and you made all of Skyrim that much more dangerous.
Veno yes money in Skyrim isn't a problem at all You end up filthy rich without stealing or event use Speech to get better price Go through a dungeon, get good shit, sell and be rich
4 college mages sacrificed their lives and condemned to oblivion to seal a dreaded pirate dremora who has been killing and looting ships for thousands of years. You, releases Velehk because you want his treasure. Me, releases Velehk because I want to hear a dremora say "booty" 4 lives well spent.
I did that too, however to fix the loot not counting i had to console res him then release him again, then he disappeared. Apparently he "needs" to disappear to get the treasure map to work
I remember there's a way to get both, if you prepare your weapon and run to him before speaking, your able to get the treasure options via the dialogue, but then hit him initiating combat and being able to kill him

Yeah, do your fingers have a condition?
Met him couple of years ago and managed to survive the first encounter despite being a weak 1 spell-pony mage, so it was memorable. I thought it was supposed to be a kind of demon making deals in a lose-lose situation so never bothered to chose the dialog options that "play along" and just kept killing him.
Next time I start a game I will just run straight to the College and release the bugger, so I can rest for the rest of the game knowing my house is proudly adorned by a golden Dibella statue, and it's not stolen (by me, at least)
I love how sharp the nails are on the daedric gauntlets looks so badass
9:23 why does him saying “Booty” so funny
More details?
Yar har fiddle dee dee you are a Dremora (I'm sorry)
Kirijo Cafe yar har feedle dee dee you are a dremora pirate we see!
Yar har fiddle Dee Dee your a dremora and as evil as can be
Ive seen this gauntlet in multiple playthroughs of skyrim and never knew the lore behind it went that deep. thanks :)
Releasing an immortal daedric pirate king after making a deal with him, there’s no possible way that could go wrong. If that doesn’t bite you in the ass in the next elder scrolls game I’m going to be very surprised
Velehk Sain’s voice sounds like his voice actor was asked to perform through a desk fan.
I think that the midden is full of dark magic and the colege was built there
I also think that one of the archmages killed the students becouse he was worshiping the daedra
Geralt of Rivia the deadra aren't all evil and deadly that's something a lot of people don't know or don't understand
Oh? What makes you say the college was built on the midden?
What ever gave you that idea?
Maybe the fact that it is?
Woahhhhhh
Quit making geralt cringy
like meridia is dedicated to routing out the undead
but she was also dedicated to enslaving humans for the elves
Daedra worship isn't particularly unusual. It is actually common practice in morrowind which is nearby
Your research is always so thorough, and your writing is compelling. Great job as always camel
Having heard this segment multiple times over the years, I still hear Starscream from The Transformers when Valehk speaks.
I love this series so much! Learning more about elder scrolls is so interesting. Also love watching the elder scrolls detective series to sleep to, your voice is just so calming.
Could you do a video on the dead body found in a closet in the Hall of Attainment in Winterhold
Or speculate on who keeps sending Dark Brotherhood assassins after the Dragonborn
theNobleTaco, dead body? Must have missed it
Decwitch1 yeah it's easy to miss. I have over 900 hours in skyrim and I only discovered it by accident the other day
It's maven. Precarious person, she is
I thought it was common knowledge that Astrid was the one to send DB assassins after the player for stealing the Grelod kill, and does so until the player sleeps and starts the DB Questline.
Pretty much everyone will give him anything he wants because he's a dremora.
probably same reason dragons horde gold and he the Pirate King what a pirate without his booty.
I don't recall the dov ever hoarding gold.
Devin Lupei when you loot dead dragons they have a shite ton of gold on them
I know. I probably was thinking about an actual dragon hoard, like piles of gold in a cave.
And you have an interesting username...
I bet they have secret stash somewhere. They been gone for so long though that their hordes were likely plundered.
General Kenobi, so you've broke the binding spell...!!
Hi camel works, I love your videos and I love how you and fugdemuppet combined your channels to make awesome builds. Keep up the amazing work camel
The kids who died to seal him were heroes
that intro sound made me smash the like button god I miss this realm of existence
Someone loves his thesaurus.
A dremora pirate. Now I've seen everything.
Velehk Sain vs Haknir Death-Brand. Opinion on who is the more badass pirate?
Well, one is an immortal Dremora whose had over a millennium to hone his craft, while the other is...quite dead, along with most of his crew. I'm going to go with Velehk.
Haknir became a dragur but yea Velehk the Pirate King for a reason.
Velehk by far
Jack Sparrow. The end.
Haknir is way cooler. Got that badass Deathbrand armor and twin blades.
The real best decision is never unlocking the gauntlet and therefore actually stop Velhek from terrorizing the seas.
Velehk Sain is a pretty interesting character! Would be cool to see him back in ES VI...!
Great work Camel, I love the ES detective series.
Kindest Regards,
VladimirCR
What I’m mad about is before I ever entered the Midden, I saw the rings, took them, and after a while of keeping them I sold them to a random shop keeper, but never remembered which one and never saw them again lmao. After I read that book I tried to buy them back, but never saw them again
Oh....a new Camel video! Time to dust off my trusty dictionary...
You know whats weird is that they used the main imperial voice actor from Oblivion (that played Lucien) to voice the Dremora beneath the college, but to my memory voicing Dremora is the only place they used him. Weird considering how many voices he played in Oblivion
I deadass love the depth and effort you put in your videos I can tell it's Def not easy. Keep making these fire vids
Meanwhile I still wish we could equip rings on more than just one finger.
What’s his devil fruit power?
Diddly doo no mi.
So, your commentary skills are great! Love the tone and everythin!!!
Plus if you don't unbind him, doesn't that mean he can't do much of anything anyway?
Veno yes
money in Skyrim isn't a problem at all
You end up filthy rich without stealing or event use Speech to get better price
Go through a dungeon, get good shit, sell and be rich
More dangerous... more experience levels and money :)
"I am, I am the pirate king.
It is indeed a glorious thing,
To be, to be the pirate king"...
- Harold Bishop.
Finally I found a video on the gauntlet
dude I am so happy I've been wondering about this item for years this helps so much ty for the work we c in the video
The gauntlet IS the One Piece!
#TheoryConfirmed
oof
FBI OPEN UP!
1:31 the dragon just floating about left center screen just above the trees
Please tell us about the coke-blowing flying snow whales that live in the mountains, Camelworks.
Eden He doesn't gossip about family affairs...
Azura's statue looks so beautiful atop there.
I love your videos so much.
Thanks for coming back, Camel! I really waited for this for such a long time.
Valek Sain's voice sounds like Fawkes from fallout 3. Might be the same guy.
Holy shit
Don’t all the Dremora have that same voice?
4 college mages sacrificed their lives and condemned to oblivion to seal a dreaded pirate dremora who has been killing and looting ships for thousands of years.
You, releases Velehk because you want his treasure.
Me, releases Velehk because I want to hear a dremora say "booty"
4 lives well spent.
I AM LRR OF OMICRON PERSEI 8
Lmaoooo
And I Want O'neal! Give us single female lawyer!
😂😂😂😂
"My name is Camel butt" gets me every time.
wait so thanos is on skyrim ???
Camel's ESO character just proves the point the sluttier the armor the more it defends
Why I haven't played this game in like 4 months?
Buy it now for your smart toaster!
Mr. Winters lol
SAME HERE!?
Same. Its been a while for me.
hmmm.... i was expecting him to be wearing a straw hat
how many Skyrim players actually read all the books in Skyrim? not me
David Elliott I try
The mystery has been unlocked. Thank you so much. Many play through, I've always wondered how to activate that gauntlet.
I got the map from him and killed him
Ziggy Stardust How did you do that ? Doesn't he disappear ?
I did that too, however to fix the loot not counting i had to console res him then release him again, then he disappeared. Apparently he "needs" to disappear to get the treasure map to work
starts at 6:35
My girlfriend was sleeping and said “Camel shut up” :/
a spin off game where you get to play as this guy would be pretty cool, the immortal daedric pirate of the abecean sounds like fun
Do a Morrowind episode!
I remember there's a way to get both, if you prepare your weapon and run to him before speaking, your able to get the treasure options via the dialogue, but then hit him initiating combat and being able to kill him
You sound like your trying use use extra words to extend an essay
GNixxle when you wrote wrote this did you check check it twice before posting? 😉
“use use” frickin hypocrite
Awesome video, beautiful to see, so crisp and sharp.
