      Maybe its because they realized that their order was going to be destroyed, the Empire would be shattered and in that process, the wall would be destroyed by the Empire's enemies. So they elected to preserve it in the hope that some of their order would survive and that the Last Dragonborn would realize his or her destiny to defeat Alduin.

    • @ink4852
      @ink4852 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Here's the gist of it, at least the way I understand it through my own delves into the lore.
      Magnus is the God of Magick. He was the first of the Aedra/Magma Ge to abandon Lorkhan's Mundus creation project after they realized that they would lose most of their divinity during the process.
      The Eye of Magnus was said to be used in the creation of Mundus/Nirn. The way I understand it, it's essentially a magical toolkit of such. The Thalmor's ultimate goal is to unmake the world (not destroy the world, but rather unmake the world by reversing the process that used to create it). They believe that by unmaking the world that they can "return" to being Aedra/Gods themselves, as the Altmer claim to be direct descendants of the Aedra.
      Ancano found a shortcut through the Eye of Magnus.

Whoever wrote this is a master craftsman at story telling and to be able to mold such a great story and lore into one piece or artifact in game must be so difficult for the average person. So this is why I say I tear up, the person who thought this up or people are amazing story craftsman. That is a gift that should be treasured.

    I'm reminded of the headmaster of bards, Viarmo's statement. He says that despite one of the sides in the civil war winning, there is no real conclusion to be found. That leaders will come and go as time passes. That only the event of the dragons' return is something which definitely will be remembered. I believe the developers, by that, made sure that the next game doesn't have to provide us with any accurate detail or references to Skyrim and the civil war, just general points of it. The next chapter will likely revovle around a greater theme - the men versus mer conflict. The whole of the fith chapter in the Elderscrolls is practically leading up to it. But how it will unfold, time only will tell. Oh, but we do know of one heroine who will be present: Grandma Shirley Curry!

    I love the Dragonborn Prophecy and how it both simply and thoroughly sums up the major events of the series leading up to the events of Skyrim.
    The Towers is one of my favorite parts of the lore as well.
    And if you read into it, “The Wheel” isn’t just the wheel of time. It refers to the structure of the Aurbis. The universe itself is made ready for the last Dragonborn. He was fated.

  • @Valto4life
    @Valto4life 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The end part of the prophesy about the snow tower being sundered is especially interesting. The Throat of the world isn't a "tower" like Red mountain is, the true snow tower is the Nords themselves. The throat of the world represents the Nords as a people, but the place itself is scarcely even special. The Throat of the world is just the place where the Nords' main creation myth takes place and what marks the Nords as "the children of the sky".

    Alduin's wall was a cool way to tell of a new prophecy using events from previous Elder Scrolls titles. I found that rather interesting were the world is going to actual Oblivion your character (Depending on the game) is the only force that keeps that darkness at bay acting as the world's final ray of light.. Pretty poetic.

    Just one piece of evidence that I take issue with, if you ask him Ulfrik claims that, while he learned to use the thuum (in the same way the monks do) and used it in his challenge, he killed the high king with his sword !. The claim that he shouted the kings body to pieces is a fabrication that was developed by the empire to imply that Ulfrik’s challenge was not done legitimately. This has always seemed more likely to me despite the fact that I usually side with the empire. 😀

And what if Alduin's Wall shows us not the completion of the prophecy which heralds our arrival, but forewarns us of the choice we will soon have to make, and the potential consequences if we make the wrong choice?

      @
      Leto85
      Here's someone who hasn't achieved chim. Kappa
      Nah, I'll explain what I can.
      All events happened, but it's the merging and reconciliation from the 7 endings as time mended that's the sticking point; I know.
      I'm sure it would help to know the practicality-- What the end result *_after_* the dragonbreak was.
      For the powers feuding for control of the Iliac Bay, here's an excerpt from "The Warp in the West", a book found in tES4 Oblivion:
      "During the 'Miracle of Peace', according to official accounts, the formerly war-wracked Iliac Bay region was transformed overnight from a patchwork of squabbling duchies and petty kingdoms into the peaceful modern counties of Daggerfall, Sentinel, Wayrest, and Orsinium. The 'Miracle of Peace', also known as the 'The Warp in the West', is celebrated as the product of the miraculous interventions of Stendarr, Mara, and Akatosh to transform this troublesome region into peaceful, well-governed Imperial counties."
      As for the other two endings...
      The Underking likely claims the death he sought, and, given the Shade of the Revenant, it is possible that King of Worms did actually ascend to a godlike state, and he did claim the title of God of Worms if "Where Were You When the Dragon Broke?
      " (another in-game book) is to be believed.
      And for the process of how countless timelines are reconciled...
      Well, average out all possibilities and distill muddlingly homogenized aspects into disparate parts as you would a sample in a centrifuge, and you may be closer to the result than you might think.
      Perhaps the rest just falls into place naturally like a fine sediment as a result.

    The Wheel doesn't refer to a wheel of time.
    The Wheel is the shape of Aurbis, also with its eight spokes which the staff of chaos probably relates to but that's besides the point here.
    or it refers to the Wheel of Fortune (not the gameshow) as fortune turns on the dragonborn just before the start of es5 putting you in your prisoner setup. Then it turns again with Alduin preventing your execution, and again as you get involved in things. It turns again and again as the dragonborn succeeds and nearly fails again and again over the course of the game.
    It's just much more kirkbride than saying the wheel of time.

    "the wheel" may be more than just "time". According to other videos, specific ones I don't remember, upon reaching an understanding of CHIM, one realizes the fact that reality is a dream, that the "godhead" looks like a "wheel". "time" doesn't rest on the Dragonborn, all of existence does

  • @natem4850

    Something I appreciate about you Camel: While I mainly love these types of videos for the spoken word element (and tin foil hat time, obvi), I cherish that you use mainly high-resolution modded Skyrim for your clips, especially when it’s clear you used specific mods in the Skyrim clips/slideshow to illustrate what you’re narrating. This is especially cool when you’re talking about something really specific that may not be found in the Vanilla textures and models, or perhaps it’s about a figure from lore whose true appearance is best accomplished using mods. It paints a more complete picture of your stories (which always have a strong visual component), and that’s just better art!

    So three of however many towers have “fallen” so what happens if they all fall? Does nothing happen? Or does something beyond description happen?

    • @hellokatyfac3
      @hellokatyfac3 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Short version - that's what the Thalmor want. TL;DR shattering all towers makes the world end and everyone (possibly meaning "The Altmer") gets to be Divine.
      Quick history lesson: Lorkhan the trickster god convinced the Et'ada (Gods) to make Nirn. The Et'ada didn't realize it would cost them their divinity and godhood. Magnus realized it, and he and his countless subordinates fucked off to Aetherius. (The holes they tore in reality became the sun and stars.) The remaining ones decided what to do with Lorkhan and everything. In the end, they ripped Lorkhan's heart out, banished him, and the Et'ada and their descendants decided they should continue to make Nirn with Towers as "anchors" (for lack of a better term) which keep the world working as it should - math and physics, gravity, time, etc. work the way they do because of these anchors. It would cost everyone their divinity, but things would work out in the end.
      Those who continued to make Nirn (or realized too late) became the Aedra, who lost their divinity and godhood. Those who said no or refused to do so became the Daedra.
      The descendants of the Et'ada, descendants of the Ayleids, etc. eventually became all the Mer you see today. The Altmer have a large "religious" group (for lack of a better term) called Thalmor who believe that if creating the Towers requires you to give up divinity, then logically, un-creating the towers gives you divinity back.
      If the Altmer unmake or sunder all eight towers, Nirn destabilizes, reality fucks up, time stops being time, the World Eater consumes everything, and everyone loses Nirn but they all become Divine Gods. No more Nirn sure, but no more suffering, war, death, pain, hunger, betrayal, corruption.... nothing. In the end, literally becoming gods is worth the small price of all of reality.
      Most people see only two problem with this - in many eyes, ONLY the altmer would Ascend, and the path to doing so involves murdering ALL MEN. Literally making them extinct so that they are removed from history and possibility. This includes Talos, who is a man-god. As you might expect, most humans don't particularly like how this would work out for them.
      The other problem is that nobody's really 100% sure that destroying the towers will make everyone gods. Kind of like how if you put water and flour together and make it hot you get bread, but you can't take bread, make it super cold and get water and flour. most people are pretty sure if you sunder the things keeping reality the way it is, you just get death with no divinity as a freebie.
