Somewhere in the 2000s or maybe the late 90s brigade commanders were made colonels and the when the land force areas were redesignated as divisions those commanders became brigadier generals
One of my friends told me it only takes 3years to be a captain from second lieutenant. But you said it takes 4years and 8 months to be a second lieutenant? ( I can be wrong) Bc I’m interested in joining Canadian army recently. Any reply is appreciated:)
First of all remember that my information is more than 20 years old. Having said that, I would suggest to you that if I were you, I would not let Time in Rank before promotion be my deciding factor in joining the Military. I would encourage you to join up, take your commission and then do everything in your power to be a good Officer. This would be the best and quickest path to promotion in my estimation. The CAF is both a good career and a noble endeavor. I hope it works out for you.
You forgot the highest rank possible: Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces. This rank is only ever held by the monarch (currently King Charles). However, the role is often exercised on the monarch's behalf by the Governor General of Canada. It is a unique rank in that the CinC substantively outranks all CF members regardless of their branch of service or positional authority, effectively making it simultaneously an army, navy and air force rank despite being held by one person. Purely in terms of rank, it is equivalent to the rank of Field Marshal or Admiral Of The Fleet in the British system of ranks (NATO code OF-10.) Despite the virtually formal-only role the rank holder it exercises, this is substantive rank instead of an honorary rank. In practice this role is little more than a formality as the CinC doesn't actually do much more than fill some formal roles like inspecting a parade or handing out the occasional medal.
This is a purely ceremonial role, in actual fact neither the King nore the Governor General give the Canadian Military any actual orders. The Chief of Defence staff answers directly to Parliament and the Prime Minister.

what are the rank of the paper pusher or tech officers
The actual ranks are exactly the same (In the Army) but obviously the duties are different.
you all have a military?
A very small one yes. At one point we were highly trained but always small.
