You are mentioning the Ukraine war, it's strange that you are not aware of the CV9040, CB90, Archer, AT4, NLAW and the Saab 39 Gripen fighters. Especially since Canada had the H Jas 39 gripen as one of the contenders, but chose the F35.
They show a lot of American soldiers in these clips actually, must be taken from some joint exercises. You can tell them apart by uniform, the Swedes have the very distinct M90 camouflage (big patches of dark and light green with black/grey), also know n domestically as "the leaf pile". AK-5 is originally a Belgian design (FNC 80), but has been modified to suit Swedish needs. It was also manufactured in Sweden. AK stands for "Automatkarbin) (automatic carbine) and has no relation to the Russian AK-variants. You should have a look at the domestic Swedish weapon systems, you might be surprised by the stuff that comes out of Sweden. This video was really just a quick overview of the biggest points. CV90 is said to be one of, if not THE best) IFV in the world, currently. The CV 9040 has a 40mm Bofors automatic cannon and is the primary Swedish variant, while foreign nations commonly use a 35mm Bushmaster chaingun. Fits about 6-7 soldiers and is very well armored. Russia was very eager to steal one of the donated CV90's in Ukraine, such an honor ;) The Archer self-propelled artillery is the fastest of its class currently. Fastest to deploy & shoot that is. It was made for shoot and scoot tactics and uses wheels for speed. It is however fully capable of going off-road. The smaller patrol boat you saw is a "CB90" (combat boat 90), very quick craft that can be equipped with mortars and heavy machineguns (also, now with miniguns). Stridsvagn 122 (tank) is a modified and Swedish built Leopard 2 A5 variant. Heavier and has better internal systems than standard. SAAB JAS 39 "Gripen" is a multirole fighter aircraft that is similar in combat potential to the F16, but has the added benefit of being easy to work on and can start from ordinary roads out in the sticks, something which the F16 would be hard-pressed to do. SAAB also has a long history of making very advanced aircraft such as the revolutionary Saab J35 "Draken" back in the1950's. The Visby corvettes are well equipped with a 57mm Bofors cannon hidden in the front "bump" and anti-ship missiles in the sides (also hidden) - is is a stealth ship after all. A new, larger, class called "Luleå" will be commissioned in a few years, it will probably look similar to this.

Honorable mentions when talking Swedish weapons industries: The Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle, the AT4, the NLAW and the Bofors 40 mm. All widely sold and used over the world for decades.
@@DarthTiggerThe wide variety of ammunition for the Carl Gustav make it popular. Pick up the gun and a couple of mission appropriate rounds and you are set to go. The modern weapon is a lot lighter then the old ones as well.
The IFV you see (cv9040) uses a 40mm barrel, hence the 40 in the name. We export a version called cv9030 with a smaller gun, but sweden prefers 40mm, basically because we use the 40mm in many systems, such as AA, on ships and has a considerable war time storage of that type of ammunition. The 4-star general you see is the Supreme commander. He will step down after the summer after serving as SC for nearly a decade. The ship you see is the visby class. Stealth corvette that has been in service for 20 years now. IT has a gun in the front of the ship that pops up. Also equipped with torpedoes and RBS15 antiship missile. Lacking any real anti-air except the gun for close combat. They will upgrade it with AA missiles finally. The truck you dont know what it is is Archer, an artillery system. Shoot and scoot capabilities, it can deploy, shoot, and leave in basically a minute or two and leave before their shots even hit its targets. Can also fire 6 shots on different trajectories and make them all hit at the same time. You can see it in the background when you talk about it too. Sent a few to Ukraine. They love it.
I think a large advantage for Sweden is that they have an active defence industry you can see this by all the home grown equipment such as the at4, Carl Gustav, cv90 and a bunch more.
Air indepentet propulsion is a Swedish invention. Look up Sterling engine and it is explained there. It uses compressed oxygene with a very slow rpm to charge batteries (simplified explanation). Makes them very silent with long ability under surface.

7:24 I know I am a nerd in all of this, but the Canadian Flak Vest or the official name "Body Armor Fragmentation Protective Vest Style" that was introduced and issued in the 90s was based off the US PASGT Vest from the 80s. Both vests are considered Flak vests as they are only rated to stop shrapnel and melee attacks due to the thickness of the kevlar. Both vests were only used up to the 2000s. At that point the US and Canada carried onto "plate carriers" which typically have torso shaped plates at the front and back (sometimes a additional 2 smaller plates for the sides) typically made of polyethylene plates and ceramic plates. Depending on the rating on the issued plates (NIJ rating system) these plates can stop pistol rounds or rifle rounds.
The 8000 that does military training are already selected from a larger group of people, we are also going to increase the selected people. In the 80s and 90s Sweden could put up an army of 800000 thousand soldiers, its make me sad to see what it has become, even if our small army comes with good quality this days it would have been nice to have the numbers to
The numbers here are a bit deflated as it only includes the people actively employed by the military right now and doesn't include people that can be mobilized.
yup its cheaper to not have an army as many has discovered - but today its really a generation mindset thats totally failed -they cant get anything going fast - its like buying toiletpaper by the sheet and theyll do it until they cant like if russia takes action and after that blame others

The Swedish Armed Forces AK 5 (Automatkarbin 5) is manufactured by the Swedish company Saab Bofors Dynamics. The AK 5 is based on the Belgian FN FNC (Fabrique Nationale Carabine) and adapted to Swedish military requirements. Production of the AK 5 started in the 1980s and the weapon has undergone several upgrades and modifications since then, including variants such as the AK 5B and AK 5C.

The soldier numbers are off and far lower then reality. Looking it up I understand where the misconception comes from. The numbers given here are the people working for the military right now. It doesn't include the entire Home Guard or Reserve, just the ones actively employed right now.
the reason they are saying "several drones" since that the official number comes in two responses in the info given 1: "more then 10 large drones" and response 2: "Yes" and this is how they respond when asked.
Shoreline defense is a BIG part of Swedens military, since Sweden have a long coastline towards russia with almost 270'000 islands! (most islands of any country in the world) basically the whole coastline is one big Archipelago! Most of it with fairly shallow and not wide waters, meaning any enemy russian transport vessels will have a hard time moving them on to the main land without doing MULTIPLE island hopping first with very small boats of their own. Thus those Patrol combat boats / Gun boats, don't remember how many we have right now but think we'v had like close to 200 of them, Some were given to Ukraine, they act / fill the role as troop transports and light tanks out there in the archipelagoes of swedens long coast, and during winter the troops can sometime Ice skate between the islands if it's cold enough. _________________________ The main rifle of Swedish armed forces for now is the AK5 (Assault Carbine 5) it's basically a rebuilt semi modern FN FAL with 5.56 Nato rounds to match the Swedish needs, Like Larger grip & Trigger to work with thick winter gloves, Making it feel slightly big without gloves but not too bad, aslo built to work at low temperatures some modern Firearms of certain nations just won't, or have higher chance of breaking during extreme cold. _________________________ Swedens Main battle tank is leopard, But a custom made one, Shorter barrel among that, actully decreases effective range BUT whole of Sweden is basically one dense forest, thats very hilly, so most tank engagements would be at shorter distances then on the open planes of eastern europe, and the short barrel also helps with traversing in the forests. Other then that the tank also have improved armour, basically making it MUCH heavier & Slower, but with the forests around they can't be speeding around anyway, basically making it optimal for defensive warfare in Sweden if Russia would invade. ________________________ Carl G recoiless & AT4 are both Swedish made weapons, Also the N-Law thats a British Swedish joint venture, Many companies around the world produce their own Carl G / AT4's under royalties payments for example USA, another old swedish Classic present in most armies even today is the Bofors 40mm auto cannon, and modern versions of it. _______________________ Most armies today are looking to modernise their artillery, Example USA is looking to remove ALL of it's towed artillery, and remove all old tracked artillery in favour of self propelled Wheeled artillery, Those Archers in the video are made to traverse through woods, they are build on modified civilian Wood harvesting trucks. The benefit of Wheeled artillery is that they overall need less supply chain & maintenance! and less chance of breaking down right before you need to reposition before incomming enemy artillery on your positions. The Archer artillery have a 155mm howitzer, that takes 30 seconds to stop and ready to fire, shoot a few rounds and already on the move within 30 seconds later, whole ordeal under 1 minute, making sure to escape the location before enemy counter artillery can land. ______________________ The AFV CV90 is most likely the most modern, most successful and battle tested in the world right now, And Sweden recently entered into a deal with Ukraine about increasing production directly to them and start production of them inside Ukraine too, as it's been the viencle with overall best preformance over there for it's role. It's not derived from any other nations, it stems from Sweden and is fielding by 15 other nations if I remember correctly, most of those within Nato, only negative aspect is it cost a little bit more then example Bradley, but those modernised bradleys with upgraded armour and so on tend to cost even more. Typically the CV 90 have a 40mm Bofors cannon, so not the 20mm of bradley or 30mm russian AFV's have, meanwhile it's also protected against armourpiercing 30mm cannons.
The small coastal boat you saw is a CB-90 (combat boat 90). It has crazy performance. Water jet and it stops from full throttle speed to stationary in less the 2 boat lengths. It not pleasant to experience a stop like that. But dang it's a great boat. With .50 cal and all gear.
The CV90, Combat Vehicle 90, is an original Swedish design. The companies building them are Hägglunds (chassi) and Bofors (turret), who both now are owned by BAE Systems, if I understand it right. The CV9040 designation means this version has a 40 mm Bofors gun, but there are other versions, with smaller guns, requested by the export customers.
There is also a twin tube 12cm mortar variant in a semi-turret in service with the Swedish mechanised battalions, one APC version without a turret adopted by Denmark, and three different gun carrier/light tank variants that never got into serial production (105mm/120mm main gun and PL-01 stealth tank concept demonstrator) The Finnish AMOS turret was also developed to be installed on the CV90 chassi.
The gun is indeed a version of the FN FNC 80, in 5.56 NATO. It's called AK5 in Swedish service. The letters AK stand for AutomatKarbin, which means Automatic Carbine.

We do paint out faces and ears because our white faces is very easy to spot , due to combat will mainly be in forested areas of 0-400m max for inf and its green everywhere , and the mines you do that to halt vechs u place 100m line of mine it takes a while to clear and then u can booby trap it and make all blow when they clearing .. you can use this to force vechs into other lanes and there will be hidden mines. And dont forget we lived here for 3000 years, white man came to Canada in 500 years ago
Without the intention of being over dramatic, the risk of a major war increases every day. It's sad with increasing defense spending right now when we should be focusing on other things, but unfortunately necessary.
Nice to hear your thoughs about my old employer. Yea "operational security" is not really the main point of covered faces here, even less so after the maintainance of the national drivers license database was contracted out to a foreign company nearly 10 years ago (if they have a license, their face is already "out there").
Yet another scandal caused by incompetent hack being given jobs they should never had. Luckily connections with the Social Democrats party are falling in value.
About the GDP, Ye we are now spending 2,2 %, we got plans of increasing that further in the next comming years. the goal is like 2.5-2.6% The corvette is a stealth ship, its equiped with torpedos , missiles and a 57 MM bofors cannon, grenade launchers, mines, it also got a helicopter dock for submarine hunting, all the weaponry is hidden behind hatches when its not used, thats why it looks like the ship dont carry any weaponry
Naa not parade strictly but more a end of a training before they wash the camo off. They are just in formation and not any longer required to wear the helmet. Also. You dont focus to much on ears as all soldiers wear Peltors.
Yeah, it's the same self propelled artillery that have showed up a few times before in this video. The interesting thing is that it's not based on a regular road truck, but on an articulated hauler and that can deal with very difficult terrain.
Not being a Gunner, I am only tangentially familiar with their tactics, but I what I do know tells me that it is similar to our Mortar Pl Tactics, and "Shoot and Scoot" to avoid counter battery fire appears to me to ba an important operation protocol, so being able to shoot and drive away within seconds looks like it would be highly effective to me, especially in todays age of Drones.
@@DarthTigger Yes, it's specifically designed to be good at shoot and scoot and considered the best at it in the world with an extremely short deploy, fire and undeploy cycle. As you may be interested in mortars so does Sweden also have a mobile twin mortar turret on a CV90 called Mjölnir. It's also very good at shoot and scoot while also providing organic artillery for all mechanized and armor units.

Most of the material in the video are from different exercises involving swedish and nato units and equipment, that goes without saying, but it shows a lot of stuff that are not part of the swedish military. So for a non Swede, it can be somewhat confusing or misleading. overall the video is not that informative, there are way better videos on youtube that explaines how the swedish military is organised, what equipment we have and use, how our different defence branches interact and how different systems are made to be integrated, so that information is shared. So that the ground, air and sea forces all have correct and updated tactical information and situational awareness. We went from mandatory conscription military service (8-12 month of service), to a small but professional elite military force. To now understanding that we need to invest, enlarge and bring back the mandatory military service (so far limited, not mandatory. but growing). Try to find some from videos from our own military channels, those are by far the most accurate. And yes its a Leopard 2 A5 variant, licence built in sweden with a lot of improvements to suit Swedens need, its less Leopard 2A5 (the plattform it is based on) and more like a A6 or even better.
Just for the record Sweden /Finland has fought 32 wars aginst russia. Sweden was never conqured. Finland only twice. Both countries using mother nature defence. Highly integrated with the defence forces in all aspects. Both sweden and finland being neutrual for so long has focused only on defence. Finland has the most dens number of lakes in the world. aprox 10% of the country surface + a 100 000 islands. And with its conscipts can muster 800 000 soldiers Sweden har the most islands in the world 267 000. + just under the water surface "islands" ~ 3-400 000 And huge number of lakes ~ 3 - 500 000. Aligned with extremly mobile forces . With top class hight tech veapons and world class situation awareness.
If you include the Novgorod republic Sweden have had at least 39 wars with Russia since 1142 AD. Up until today that is .n average one every 22 years. However since the latest war was back in 1809 AD in reality it was rather one every 17 years on average during the 700 years of active warfare against eachother. However if you include independent Finland along with Sweden you could add (at least) 3 more wars against Russia/Soviet. Totallying at (at least) 42 wars.

Thank you very much!
Take a closer look on the submarine. It sank the Us aircarrier Ronald Reagan numerus times without being detected. That was a couple of years ago.
Very cool!
It's a FNC, licensed to Sweden and modified to the Swedish Arctic conditions. 5.56 nato.

In the 80s and 90s Sweden could put up an army of 800000 thousand soldiers, its make me sad to see what it has become, even if our small army comes with good quality this days it would have been nice to have the numbers to
The numbers here are a bit deflated as it only includes the people actively employed by the military right now and doesn't include people that can be mobilized.
you are still on a better track than Canada is :(
I read in SVD (Swedish news outlet) that they will need to lower the requirements to meet the numbers. Are millennials/gen-z-/alpha so weak? Pathetic
yup its cheaper to not have an army as many has discovered - but today its really a generation mindset thats totally failed -they cant get anything going fast - its like buying toiletpaper by the sheet and theyll do it until they cant like if russia takes action and after that blame others
26:16 This means that the engine does not need any air to function .

That rifle is the newest version of the swedish produced AK5, in this case AK5C. AK stands for automatkarbin or automatic carbine.

12:50 It is a Leopard but with Swedish tech built in
the reason they are saying "several drones" since that the official number comes in two responses in the info given 1: "more then 10 large drones" and response 2: "Yes" and this is how they respond when asked.
Cool.
_________________________
The main rifle of Swedish armed forces for now is the AK5 (Assault Carbine 5) it's basically a rebuilt semi modern FN FAL with 5.56 Nato rounds to match the Swedish needs, Like Larger grip & Trigger to work with thick winter gloves, Making it feel slightly big without gloves but not too bad, aslo built to work at low temperatures some modern Firearms of certain nations just won't, or have higher chance of breaking during extreme cold.
_________________________
Swedens Main battle tank is leopard, But a custom made one, Shorter barrel among that, actully decreases effective range BUT whole of Sweden is basically one dense forest, thats very hilly, so most tank engagements would be at shorter distances then on the open planes of eastern europe, and the short barrel also helps with traversing in the forests.
Other then that the tank also have improved armour, basically making it MUCH heavier & Slower, but with the forests around they can't be speeding around anyway, basically making it optimal for defensive warfare in Sweden if Russia would invade.
________________________
Carl G recoiless & AT4 are both Swedish made weapons, Also the N-Law thats a British Swedish joint venture, Many companies around the world produce their own Carl G / AT4's under royalties payments for example USA, another old swedish Classic present in most armies even today is the Bofors 40mm auto cannon, and modern versions of it.
_______________________
Most armies today are looking to modernise their artillery, Example USA is looking to remove ALL of it's towed artillery, and remove all old tracked artillery in favour of self propelled Wheeled artillery, Those Archers in the video are made to traverse through woods, they are build on modified civilian Wood harvesting trucks.
______________________
The AFV CV90 is most likely the most modern, most successful and battle tested in the world right now, And Sweden recently entered into a deal with Ukraine about increasing production directly to them and start production of them inside Ukraine too, as it's been the viencle with overall best preformance over there for it's role.
AK 5built on FNC and the guys with barett are from the Armour unit with the armored fist!
The weapon shown last is probably a Carl Gustaf, an anti tank no recoil weapon.
Im not a pro but still, pro tip: don't stand behind that MF
No, it's indeed a Stinger
@@TheSwedeMcCoyEven if so standing behind it is still ill adviced. 😅
At 28:12, Archer artillery systems. The world's best...
19:03 That my friend CV90 made in Sweden .
Cool Thanks!
There is also a twin tube 12cm mortar variant in a semi-turret in service with the Swedish mechanised battalions, one APC version without a turret adopted by Denmark, and three different gun carrier/light tank variants that never got into serial production (105mm/120mm main gun and PL-01 stealth tank concept demonstrator)
The Finnish AMOS turret was also developed to be installed on the CV90 chassi.
The gun is indeed a version of the FN FNC 80, in 5.56 NATO. It's called AK5 in Swedish service. The letters AK stand for AutomatKarbin, which means Automatic Carbine.
I carried the FNC1 7.62mm for several years. Loved that rifle!

Thank you for the clarification!
Without the intention of being over dramatic, the risk of a major war increases every day. It's sad with increasing defense spending right now when we should be focusing on other things, but unfortunately necessary.
Sad but true. Almost every soldier I know would agree with you.

Finland has the most dens number of lakes in the world. aprox 10% of the country surface + a 100 000 islands. And with its conscipts can muster 800 000 soldiers
Sweden har the most islands in the world 267 000. + just under the water surface "islands" ~ 3-400 000 And huge number of lakes ~ 3 - 500 000. Aligned with extremly mobile forces . With top class hight tech veapons and world class situation awareness.
Thanks for the information man.
Maybe watch the segments a bit longer next time.....instead of having to ask a question about what you see....and then 3 seconds later getting the answer!!!! 🤯 Deply annoying.
