Just a small comment. This is not a Japanese farm. 00:24 The small boats have Spanish registers (and names). Are from Cadiz, in the south of Spain. Plate numbers 04 - CA (from Cadiz) - and name Purisima (The Purest) (which is obviously not a Japanese name for a boat). They fish the tuna with the Almadraba technique. Why in Cadiz? Because they intercept the tunas while they move from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic thru the Gibraltar strait. This has been done there and this way for many centuries.
by the way, although a big part of the catches get frozen and sent to Japan, in Cadiz you can easily eat fresh yellowfin tuna fish in many ways at a 10th of the price in Japan. What you see at 4:44 is Mojama. A dried part of the tuna. It is a tuna version of Spanish Jamón. Also the meat with (obviously olive) oil.
Yes it is a beautiful sight, very satisfying! Fish is being turned into our meal... I love tuna. And I hate the anti-fishing greenies. Fish are to be consumated, humans are on the top of the food chain!
The part of the video showing the processing of the Tuna, 3:33 is not done by the Japanese. I highly suspect those people are Europeans most likely Spanish preparing the Tuna meat for the export to the Japanese market.
Can't understand how they don't have a winch to pull in the Nets, instead using hundreds of men, but they have winches / cranes to pull the fish out... Fascinating stuff

Wow. I never realized tuna was so big. I can't quite handle sushi, personally. I guess it's a texture thing, or the thought of eating it raw. I have tried it several times, at good, quality restaurants, but I just couldn't get used to it. Oh, well, I guess I'll just have mine cooked and say more power to those who do enjoy sushi. Variety is the spice of life.
At least this is farmed raised I am glad they are working on solution to allow the repopulation of tuna stocks in the ocean However I read that Japan would like to raise the quota by 15% in 2022
Yes. I wouldnt be afraid of raising the quota by 15%. The eco-alarmists frighten us but tuna is healthy, tasty and the demand is big, thus fishermen should have right to catch more tuna.
@@lukasbejcek8841 the demand being big is the problem.tuna takes years to grow to breeding size and can't keep up with human demand. Fishermen should not catch more tuna.there is already to few tuna has is and it's only a matter of time before there is no more which would be bad for both human and animal.
@@starandfox601 The problem is that some animal protectors’ groups want us to stop fishing and eating meat at all. The fishing quotas should respect the both sides: the fish stocks (which are not so low) and the human demand. And the demand is high...
@@lukasbejcek8841 I don't think we should stop fishing.just stop fishing for endagered speices that clearly can't keep up and need a break.there are plenty of other fish in the sea that taste just has good that aren't endagered and breed way faster. They are indeed extermely low.how low do tuna have to go before you Noitce the iusse?has low has whales and otters got considering their populations have dipped so low from over harvesting even with protection to this day they are still struggling? @@starandfox601 Whales are a good example of the protection hystery. The alarmists were crying whales were too low and endangered - and a few years were enough to recover the population. So, Japan has been right to defend harvesting whales. Tuna is a similar case. We have enough time to look for better solutions than fishing restrictions.
@@CFS91 that still doesn't answer the question. We are taking about farmed tuna not wild caught. If I were to guess it would be about keeping the quality and prices high.
@@robertgent1173 Quota is for the wild catch fish, and i'm not sure where they get this number from. In 2019, Japan quota for bluefin tuna was less than 10000 tons combining for both big and small fish. For the farm, they still trying to make it work as good as salmon farm in Norway, the problem with Tuna is that they just successfully closed-cycle in small scale. most of them still using catched juveniled wild fish and raising them up in the farm

excellent alternative, for process aliment, AVOID DEPREDATION, AND THEY SHOULD INCORPORATE THE RELEASE OF PART OF THE CARDUMEN TO THE SEA FOR AN EXCELLENT CLOSURE

It’s fascinating how there are just regular fish that big that aren’t like sharks
Do they have heart attacks and die? how do they die?

Don't quite capture the size of the tuna until a few divers jump in and then whoaaa wait a minute...that's HUGE!
That’s only a 3 year old tuna gets bigger than that when wild
i love this all.. more and more tuna .. Greed is Good

Very nice 👍
Are these fish raised in closed ponds in the seas, or are they caught in such large numbers from the sea?
they are hatched , raised in small ponds as you can see in the video then transferred to the closed sea cages, fed until harvest
So informative 👍🏻
How many years does it take to harvest bluefin in farm???
Just guessing but maybe two or three years for the smallest acceptable

Why is there a quota for farmed tuna? Does anyone know?
they considered as "Vulnerable" by IUCN, quota was put on to prevent overfishing and making thing worst

Farmed vs Wild.
Hence, can expect the fish meat content to differ.
Besides tuna, the Japanese tradition also includes eating whale meat.
well they love seafood because their main source of food is seafood
