Props, my dude. Made these tonight and they were stellar. If you ever just so happen to have some marinated eggplant lying around I find that chopping it up and adding it to any plant based meatball mixture really helps give the finished product a nice meaty chew. The additional flavor is pretty rad too. Keep up the good work, my man! I appreciate all the high quality content you produce!
Possible shortcut: Instead of buying a whole loaf of white bread for this, use the scooped out inside of the sandwich bread? Looks so good! And I have most of these ingredients already so it would be easy to try out. I love Gardein's meatballs but something I can make at home could be nice. Especially since my store is very iffy on vegan products.
Cooking those field roast stadium dog in crisco vegetable shortening worked out really well. I tried scoring them and it was great! Great video once again
If you want you can leave a peeled carrot in their while it simmers in place of the sugar to add sweetness and take away the tin flavour from canned tomatoes!
This sandwich looks goooood! Love a vegan meatball, especially when I can make it myself. Thanks, TheeBurgerDude! Your hard work makes our eyes and tummies happy!
Yes!! It smells a bit like feet to me, but gosh the mozzarella tastes incredible when melted. I avoid the colby jack like the plague though. Truly awful.
I'm not a fan of the Beyond or Impossible meats (maybe I've been vegan too long?), anyway, I think this recipe looks delicious and I can't wait to try it.
Pretty funny with the "not losing the meatball when somebody sneezed" haven't heard that little tune in a long time. Cant wait to try this. I miss a good meatball sandwiches. Thanks dude.
Okay. Yeah. This is one of my favourites from you. I was really, really looking forward to seeing this recipe done when you announced it. You absolutely did not disappoint. Very excited to try this one out. I may try it with methylcellulose in lieu of the VWG.... I can't stand the stuff! Does the baking soda really help that much in neutralising some of the gluten flavours?
I use it a few times a week. It adds a lot of umami and boosts the other flavors. That being said you could just sub with nutritional yeast and that will be good too.
I just got a bag on Amazon for under $10, which seems like a lot but it's huge - 14oz will last a long time. There are several brands of it. You can find a ton of vegan recipes that call for it on this channel, as well as Sauce Stache and Mary's Test Kitchen. PS: A great trick that you might already know - click on a channel and on the line just above the videos with Home, Videos, Playlists, etc is a little magnifying glass or search option. I don't mean the big search box at the top. You can search for "mushroom seasoning" to list just recipes with that phrase on that channel! I use this all the time to find something specific. Note: this does NOT work on the TH-cam mobile app since it lacks the ability to search inside a channel; it only works in the regular browser version.
@@TheeBurgerDude It is a slightly modified quote from scientist Carl Sagan. Change out the meatballs and replace with apple pie. Not sure if you're into astronomy, but look the guy up! Absolute genius.
Do you think this is a good general meatball recipe? I have missed swedish meatballs so badly and I think this could work for it just wanted your thoughts.
Hmm, tried these tonight and unfortunately it turned into a soggy mess. As the "dough" stayed a wet mess I even added 20+ gr extra wheat gluten. No luck, I couldn't get a big firm meatball out of it and even after ~20 mins waiting the resulting meatballs I turned just sagged as well. Ended up having more of a kind of soft falafels out of these. Then I hoped the step where they steam in the pan would firm them up .. boy was I wrong. The taste was great, but there where no "meat balls" resulting from this unfortunately ..
@@TheeBurgerDude Well, in the end by squishing them in the pan and afterwards in the oven they did turn out ok-ish. Just not sure what's up with this wheat gluten I got. It just didn't turn into any kind of firm meatballs. It wasn't a total disaster in the end. Of course I don't have the exact same ingredients as you do. Next time maybe I'll try breaking up the lentils to add some more texture, mine stayed quite intact the whole time which probably also didn't help to keep everything together.
I hope you start getting more views on the main channel vids. TH-cam shorts are super easy to grow with but the growth tends to translate poorly to longform content. I really hope TH-cam addresses this in the future because it's quite sad to see creators whos shorts AND longform videos you like get screwed over on the longform front.
@@Sarah_Apgar I'll try it. But if it contains coconut then I'll probably won't like it. I hate to be picky but I don't like the flavor of coconut when it comes to vegan cheeses, yogurts, etc. I'm in Mexico and we have a vegan company here that makes vegan cheeses including cottage cheese but it contains coconut. Didn't like it. We'll see... :(

I'm usually not a huge fan of lentils as meat, but this looks great! Lots of different flavors going on.
Hi I just purchased your book. Can't wait to get started making your recipes : )
One of my all time favorites. Can't wait to make it.
🎵RollOut🎶 kinda have to play some Luda when I make these little delights. Thank you!
Dude.. Stop.. I'm trying to LOSE weight and your videos are not helping ಠ_ಠ
a sub won't hurt
Hahahha same
Just leave out any oil you can saute without oil just use water

Lovely as always, cant wait to try this.
I love that these are lentil based! Can't wait to try them. 😋
My husband's favorite grain is the lentil -- and I LOVE "neatball" subs -- I can't wait to make this!
violife shreds instead! cant wait to try this out!

Delicious! Love watching your channel :) I’m subscribed 😋
Gotta have a wrapping tutorial! Would be perfect for a short
I’m actually terrible at wrapping lol
Awesome video! Definitely looks better than subway
have you ever had the quiznos chicken carbonara bacon sub? it was sooo delicious and the sauce was amazing. if you ever make this, you will be my hero
I use the same brand of canned lentils (and all their other canned beans) all the time. And the same brand of canned chickpeas.
Okay. Yeah. This is one of my favourites from you. I was really, really looking forward to seeing this recipe done when you announced it.

Thanks! I couldn’t taste it and I’m sensitive to it!
Love your recipes and your videos! Gonna get the book!
Looks amazing as always. Would you recommend the same cooking method for the balls if not adding the wheat gluten?
You can skip the steaming step but brown and bake them the same way. 👍🏼
@@TheeBurgerDude Thanks for the tip, chief

Those look tasty as with all of your recipes.
Thank you my friend for this recipe and delicious sandwich😋👌👏
Congrats on 100K!
Is the mushroom seasoning important? i don’t like buying ingredients i won’t use for more than one recipe

The Garlic got tossed like a pro 😅. Nice recipe. Thanks
You should make a vegan gyro 😁
Nice
Thoughts on making a vegan gyro?
I love your cookbook.
Thank you!
I'm pretty sure that the liquid from canned lentils should also do the trick if you have no chickpeas around.
This looks so good. I forgot about lentil balls!
I gotta try this, my mouth is watering 😄
After I make the meatball ball could I freeze it and how long would it stay good for if Frozen
Yes, at least a month or so 👍🏼
Looks delicious!
If you want make meat balls from scratch, you must first invent the universe
What

Do you think this is a good general meatball recipe? I have missed swedish meatballs so badly and I think this could work for it just wanted your thoughts.
Yes you could swap out the Italian seasonings for Swedish meatballs seasonings (allspice, nutmeg etc) and it’ll work.
my mom makes these
Never knew that baking soda can help mask the taste of vital wheat gluten. Wonder how that works then 🤔
I think I saw it on the seitan appreciation group on FB. Seems to work! You can’t do it with any vinegar though.
Amazing video!
Love the video! Do you know if these can freeze?
Thanks! I haven’t tried but I don’t see why not!
He had fun with the word “balls” lol, I’m not vegan but enjoy the videos.
On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed....
Question: why steam and then bake the meatballs? Can't you just bake them?
To thoroughly cook the seitan without drying them out!
This looks great. Can the meatballs be made without the oil? I’m SOS free.
You can try, might need more wet for the binder.
never knew subway didn’t have vegan meatballs in the usa they have it in the uk
They had them briefly!
Is there a GF replacement for the vital wheat gluten? Gluten intolerance is not fun.
Maybe just some GF flour? Not sure!
