For some reason I was stopped dead in my tracks by mills mess. I felt I just couldn't learn it and I've avoided it for years and years. After watching your video I just picked it up in around 20 mins. Thank you for an awesome tutorial!
Everytime I have to come re learn something in this video , this comment keeps me pushing , motivates me to see passed the hard parts and makes me not want to quit this trick . Cant end up like you
How did you let let such a seemingly small funderbunk test give you the urge quit, three balls down , and let samson little stinky mess make you less of a person. Good to know you started your day right by completing this movement.
I think your tutorials are pretty valuable, not only to the for jugglers that learn the patterns but also for jugglers who do tutorials. As someone trying to learn the secrets of video editing this is also a tutorial for me. The Animation at the beginnig is awesome the colour choice/ size of the balls is on point, the transitions and sound effects, the composition of the scene...i could go on forever. This is a blue print for a tutorial on any skill and im thankful it exists.
Yeah, I don't know how some jugglers claim this one is "basic" or easy. This was one of the toughest patterns for me to learn. My experiences: 1. Focus on all throws to going to the same place... to the center. When you are in the midst of the pattern during the panic phase and wondering what to do next, fall back on this golden rule. 2. The cross throw @3:48 is counter-intuitive and took up most of my concentration when learning. Reverse cascade with one ball going under is NOT Mill's Mess (2 of the 3 throws are but starting there could result in a bad habit). 3. To learn, throw high (top of head or higher) so you have a half second to think. This is probably the #1 tip that got me through it. 4. Taylor's combination @8:30 is crucial. Get this down. (Left 1, 2, 3, stop, then Right, 1, 2, 3, stop). Next you have stop stopping and figure out the #4 throw (which is simply the opposite #1). Get to the point where you can catch the #4. Getting past this barrier was a point of great frustration, but here's the thing: Once you move on to #5 throw, the juggler's brain kicks in and it started working. Thanks Taylor for this video. This is the best MM tutorial on TH-cam.
I didn't even know what Mills mess was ( called it "the impossible switcharoo circle") but now I can do it. Honestly, I still haven't quite wrapped my head around what's going on but my hands seem to be getting it haha. What a great tutorial!
Good luck learning Mills Mess everyone! If you have any questions, feel free to post them, I'll do my best to answer! Chapters for your convenience: 0:53 - The Pattern 2:34 - Prerequisites 3:15 - Breakdown - 1 ball 6:24 - Breakdown - 2 balls 7:52 - Breakdown - 3 balls 10:01 - Troubleshooting 11:55 - Conclusion 12:38 - GOPHER!
You are definitely not too old! I've known many jugglers who have learned later in life and gotten very good, I've taught a few too! As my grandmother used to say; Age is a state of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
After 5 weeks of practicing I FINALLY GOT MILL"S MESS DOWN GOOD!!! A cool and satisfying pattern. Never could have done this without the tutorial. Thanks
Well done. The lesson really only begins after you learned how to teach yourself. To know how to learn is the difference between a beginner and an apprentice. Juggling is a great tool for this process and contains real life lessons. If you face a big challenge - divide it into small challenges - practice the ones that you can´t do already - practice the transitions - bring it all together. Never give up - succeed eventually (one was or the other)! Basically analyze the way she is teaching and ask yourself why it works. I hope this perspective is helpfull and encouraging even if it is presented so short and dry in a youtube comment. :-)
Very good advice regarding the "u" ball. Concentrating on throwing that ball back to the centre has improved the look of my pattern 100%. Thanks again!
Great tutorial! I tried learning this from friends years ago and knew I was doing it wrong. I also like the focus of the camera, with the autumn leaves out of focus in the back.
WOW it’s like you always post a video just as I am struggling with a trick!! I’ve been trying to learn Mills Mess for the past few weeks and it was not looking right, I see my errors now! Also, You posted the three club cascade and I learnt from you despite watching SO many tutorials. Thank you Taylor !! You break things down perfectly. Love from the Caribbean islands, Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
wauw! i picked up juggling around 2 weeks ago and the only thing i could do then was a inconsistent 3 ball cascade. i have been practicing and trying new things since i touched it 2 weeks ago. i wanted to learn mills mess and you just made me do it after 10 min of trying i can now do consistently 30+ catches. thanks a lot for the tutorial and i will watch much more of the video's that you make.
1:32 "some people describe it as the trick windmill going back and forth". This sentence clicked in my head a few months ago. Thanks once again Taylor.
I've known for decades *what* the individual throws were, but holy moly, leading just 2 balls in the figure 8 patten has combed my actual mess into the most satisfying and elegant pattern! This is just what the doctor ordered
Ten years a go I learned this amazing trick by the hard way watching it several times to understand how it works. If some one explained me this, it would be easier, thanks for sharing
Sir Iam From India & Don't Know English But Sir Aap Indian Lage Aur Ye Video Dekh Rahe Ho To Ache Jugler B Hoge.. Main Bhi Ye Seekhna Chahta Hu Can U Help Me???
Just started juggling again a few days ago and l was surprised that i was able to perform most of my juggling skills. (stopped more than a half year ago and was able to juggle 4 balls and do some 3 ball tricks, but didn't know how to do mills mess and the tutorials weren't really helpfull) With the help your tutorial I learned this skill in one evening! Thank you🙂
Learned this trick when I was very young and have been doing it for decades but I’ve struggled teaching it to others. Great video and awesome explanation
Thanks a lot...i have been trying Mills mess for several months, but just ended up with the messy part. With your video i have finally succeeded in only one evening...the moment where you emphasize that the third ball has to be thrown inside has been extremely helpful. And you are pretty too ;-)
Rare to see such thought through step by step explanations with details where u wanna catch the second ball in one hand and different viewing angles Good job and thank you!
Thanks! I have tried several times over the years to learn the Mills mess but could never really understand it. But yesterday I watched your video and voila, 2 hours later I have a Mills mess!! Thanks a lot!!
I always thought of it as 3 consecutive throws to the left, then 3 consecutive throws to the right. Throwing them more to the middle (as you recommend) has made my pattern look a lot nicer. You are officially an epic teacher!! 🤹♂️
I remember the first time I committed to learning Mills Mess, and then again once I mastered it, it was my most treasured juggling experience. It's so elegant and rewarding to learn and watch. Thank you for this video.
the only thing that tops Mills Mess is seeing constant toggling between Mills Mess and Reverse Mills Mess, someone should name it Alternating Mills Mess if it doesn't already have a name.
Following other's tutorial there was no way to do it for me. With you, after few tries, I have the feeling that I will do it. Thanks....and you are so beautiful!!!
Your tutorials are great thank you. Not only do you obviously have the best SEO and domain authority as your stuff always appears first on Google, but I love your breakdown explanations and practice routines to get the feel for the muscle memory on each parts of the trick. And the POV camera views is exactly what the doctor ordered! I normally watch your vids right on the Google embed link, and can't comment or like so had to come to TH-cam for this one to let you know how much you've helped me learn and I appreciate you!
Thank you Taylor. You rock. So satisfiying when it hurts the brain at the begginning and it ends up being fully understood. Many thanks for your tutorial. Nico frome France
The best tutorial I've even seen! And I've seen a LOT! Finally I can do the mills mess, thank you so much!! Can't wait to look at your other tutorials. Way to go Taylor!
That overhead camera angle is sooooo helpful! Thanks! I'm still struggling with Windmill and Shower (also learning from your other vids), but learning Mills Mess and the other two at the same time seems to help reinforce the initial 2-ball tosses of each trick. Love your videos!
Great tutorial. I’m also a TH-camr (Arborist Blair Glenn) and have a good friend (Dan Menendez) who has been teaching juggling for a long time. I stumbled on your tutorial here and wanted to commend you. The edit was clear, your shots were well thought out and using three different colored balls works well. Blair
Many many years ago, I attached ribbons to some juggling balls, so that when I juggled them in a cascade, the ribbons would braid -- or when I juggled a reverse cascade, they would braid in the other direction. Just for kicks, I tried mills mess... and *THE RIBBONS DIDN"T BRAID*. The crossing and un-crossing of hands unbraids the pattern exactly as fast as the underlying cascade pattern braids them. Blew. My. Mind.
I think of it as juggling with my arms crossed and then changing which crossed arm is on top. So you juggle arms crossed left on top, uncross arms, arms crossed right on top, uncross arms. Repeat until you drop one or get bored.
your tutorials are by far the best. After learning a 3 ball cascade ive learned pretty much every other juggling trick i know from you. Mills mess seemed so terrifying and i picked it up in a few hours. ur the best taylor!
I wish I had a tutorial like this when I was learning Mills Mess! The way I learned it back in about 2003 was I downloaded a program that simulated various juggling throws/patterns, and I just stared at, and studied, the simulation for HOURS trying to understand what each ball was doing and how to get my hands and arms to do what the completely 2D stick figure simulation was doing. Anyway, it took a few days for me to even learn the pattern and work on executing it without dropping every cycle. But I love it, it's my favorite 3 ball juggling trick to bust out, because it always gets a fun reaction from people when they see it! Good video!
Bwhahaha 10:18. It me. I learned this the first time as a late-teenager. I was looking for a refresher; instead I found your method of trying it the best decomposition of this trick I've seen, yet! Awesome video! Thanks!
I'm the one, who did the second and the third mistake as well, and didn't realize it, until I did it front of a camera (inspired by you). Now I'm only doing the second one :D Thanks for the tips!
Definitely not ready to tackle this yet but it's good to know for later. Your videos are by far the best breakdown for juggling I've seen and are packed full of finer details.
December will make one year , i struggle still to do the 2 up 1 up as my hands dont supinate all way but at one point 3 ball cascade seemed impossible now i can do a few tricks i appreciate the lessons
Great tutorial, very detailed. After watching Steve Mill's tut I thought I've learned it. Now I can clearly see, there's a little bit more journey ahead :).
Thank you so much. I have to say your video really make me easily juggle. With the language obstacle,I still can understand what you teach. I will show off this trick to my friend. HAHA
Thank you for one of the best Mill's Mess breakdown videos i've ever seen, the multiple angles and ball-by-ball pattern explained really did help. I made progress but I may be doing it incorrectly like mentioned towards the end.
For some reason I was stopped dead in my tracks by mills mess. I felt I just couldn't learn it and I've avoided it for years and years. After watching your video I just picked it up in around 20 mins. Thank you for an awesome tutorial!

Same I thought it would take like 5 hours to get good at but I got good ing about 30 minutes 😂😂😂
Best tutorials I've seen in TH-cam. Definitely.
Came here to say this - Cheers Taylor!
just yes, you can explayin things so well... Wish i could too
She's so good at these tutorials. I think she like a chosen one 😁
Seconded and thirded

Thanks for the lessons..luckily I already know this pattern..
A lesson on Rubinstein's revenge will be great!! 👓
Hahaha, 12:38 is my favorite chapter, even though the rest was a great tutorial! Thanks for this. :) Sounds like it was a cute little gopher. :)
Thank you, I have now qualified mills mess. Also juggled continuously for two and a half minutes, one and a half minute increase from yesterday!
Do you know whats good continuously for a three ball mess?
There is simply no better juggling video or coach anywhere. The step by step instructions are exactly perfect.
taylor you are awesome. i knew steve mills 40 years ago. we used to perform in NYC. You did a better job explain than the man himself.
Thought I was too old and slow to learn this but due to your teaching ability I'm learning it. Thank you!!!
You are definitely not too old! I've known many jugglers who have learned later in life and gotten very good, I've taught a few too!
As my grandmother used to say; Age is a state of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
@@TaylorTries Thanks for the encouragement and great content. Cheers!
Watch 2:00 boom .... that's the most important thing you need to understand
Thank you Taylor ma'am for the video 👏👏

U r expert even in showing wrong throw in trouble shooting. great
It's like learning juggling all over again... I love it
1:36...Now that's slick. I look forward to nailing this.
One of the best juggling tutorials at all. It’s an example of the ideal philosophy for any tutorial: make it as simple as possible, but not simpler…
Learned this trick when I was very young and have been doing it for decades but I’ve struggled teaching it to others. Great video and awesome explanation

Thank you for your reply to my question about the Mills Mess pattern. Your answer was thorough and complete.
I got that brain hurt at the Tennisball already, much more so at the factory. I'm so ready for this :D
You make it look so easy. Took me a year to learn it.

best tutorial I've seen! breaking it down like that made it so I could really focus on how smooth everything was, before it was super choppy
Amazing, all of a sudden it makes sense, great tutorial as always!
Thank you Taylor for being a such good teacher.
Grettings from France.
Thanks so much Taylor! I started using this tutorial a month ago, and today I got 4 catches!! I’m proud to be a Cool Otter!
The best tutorial I've even seen! And I've seen a LOT! Finally I can do the mills mess, thank you so much!! Can't wait to look at your other tutorials. Way to go Taylor!
Had been trying to learn this for ages, your tutorial finally made me get it. thanksssssssss!
Thanks for explaining everything 👍👍

I have tried so manie tutorials but none was as clear as this one
Thanks so much
The 20 seconds starting at 1:53 unlocked it for me. I finally understand the pattern.
These video are so well thought out and great production quality. Thank you for making me suck less at juggling.
WOW! you are so good at juggling ! You are the best person to make me know how to juggle!
I wish I had a tutorial like this when I was learning Mills Mess! I agree. One of the best tutors out there on youtube! Thanks for an understandable explanation of the notorious mess!
Great tutorial!! I've trying to learn to juggle Mils Mess for a while and with your steps I finally did it!!
Thank you so much :)
FINALLY the Mill's mess seems less messy to me. By far the best tutorial on the subject, thanks a lot !
Thank you so much! ❤️ I was able to learn this trick in just three day (à ca. 30 minutes each day). You explained well.
I remember learning this trick years ago and trying to make it look good. Aiming each ball to the center of my body did the trick. Yay :)
Thank you so much, I Just learned my favorite jugling trick in like 30 minutes with this incredible tutorial 🤩😄
Bwhahaha 10:18. It me. I learned this the first time as a late-teenager. I was looking for a refresher; instead I found your method of trying it the best decomposition of this trick I've seen, yet! Awesome video! Thanks!

Now I'm only doing the second one :D
Thanks for the tips!
Thank you very much for teaching from zero filming in front angle back angle excellent congrats and greetings from Bolivia. 😊❤
Your teaching skills are simply brilliant. Binge watching now... ❤️
I unintentionally learnt this previously but my technique was off and it didnt look very good so now it looks much better thanks
This is a fantastic tutorial! I learned things I didn’t know about this pattern! Thanks for the advice, hoping to join the Legendary Otter Club soon!
Definitely not ready to tackle this yet but it's good to know for later. Your videos are by far the best breakdown for juggling I've seen and are packed full of finer details.
Awesome, thank you :) I have been struggling with mells for weeks now.

Wow! Great way of teaching! I have never juggled, but still enjoyed it.
Thanks for the video! I’m going to try and learn this trick!
Been working on it! I think I have the first two throws down at the same time but still working on doing all three together
Great tutorial, very detailed. After watching Steve Mill's tut I thought I've learned it. Now I can clearly see, there's a little bit more journey ahead :).

best tutorial out there!! thanks a million. been practicing this for ages but managed a 1mn mills mess shortly after watching this.
Great breakdown.... I'm not naturally talented at juggling so need individual steps to follow like this.
Definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had honestly
I’m getting this engraved on my tombstone 😆
Amazing explanation! I was able to pick it up fairly quickly mainly because I was good with the prerequisites. Love this trick!
Your videos r so helpful... thank you for teaching ❤

Thank you SO much! Finally got it.
Omg ! I need to learn how to do this one !!!! I’m loving your tutorials !!! 🙏🏻 so good
Thank you for one of the best Mill's Mess breakdown videos i've ever seen, the multiple angles and ball-by-ball pattern explained really did help. I made progress but I may be doing it incorrectly like mentioned towards the end.
best juggling tutor on youtube!
