Spoiler alert. Dont watch this video if you want to be surprised about what LSV's son is getting for Christmas.
Listening to LSV lecture BK on how to place his cards in the draft pool makes me chuckle. Moving the Birds to cover the elf, adjusting the Ketria Triome to make room for a possible zero is next level laughs
It genuinely is the best way to look at a deck while building. Regardless of the actual picks.
@@ApShagsterI’ve been doing it for years, basically since LSV started doing it and it immediately felt so intuitive to me.
7 raging ravines might be the funniest moment I've seen on this channel
This cube worlds has truly been event of the year. Real stakes, real tension, real interest. Accessible enough to give the everyday cuber a dream to aspire toward, and competitive enough to satisfy the spikiest of spikes, the most die-hard cube fanatics. I hope this thing made Daybreak/Ultimate Guard/assorted organizers a boatload of money and emboldened them enough to run it back again (or some version of it) next year. Feels good to see this underserved area of the MTG ecosystem getting a big moment in the sun.
When is finals?
Well I am somewhat dissatisfied. 4-0ed a qualifyer than I had no room to join to the 64 player queues. All seats were taken days before the event :(
I didn't play because I felt like I was done with mtgo for good (very much prefer Arena), but then I regretted not playing. I'll throw some money at it if they run it back again.
@FlagellumDei78 That super sucks and makes me not want to try this.
I think I'd get lucky and make it very far then lose to a mtgo misclick and cry.
@Hitzel during Magiccon Vegas, Oct 25-27. I'm not sure the exact day, though.
2.5 hours let's go BK you carry our hopes and dreams with you.
He is the winner of MULTIPLE 64 PLAYER CUBE DRAFTS after all
His opponents were slooow lol
LSV: Hey I have a crazy play you could make
BK: That doesn't seem very good
LSV...... wait a minute that's actually a busted combo
BK: Oh lord you're right
10 minutes later: attack you with 7 raging ravines
I love how informative this channel has been, but so far the most valuable insight I've gotten is how often the pros also get completely screwed or make dumb oversights. I feel a lot better about walking into that Shifting Woodland + Planeswalker problem myself a few weeks ago.
I can't believe you would even CONSIDER cutting chariot. It helps you make more raging ravines!
IKR?!?!?! 7 Isn't NEARLY enough!
I could not stop laughing the whole time during match 2, that was amazing!
Springheart is the best recent addition to the cube by far, it is exactly as degenerate as vintage cube should be
@@Voidhawk42 Agreed, such a fun card, i'm sad they passed up the pyrogoyf, that card goes nuts with nantuko.
@@Gauteron1 True, but did they really have the graveyard fillers to make use of it? They weren't getting Rumble on the wheel, which naturally goes great with it. We know that for a fact, given that we saw a Domain deck that would have 100% taken it. They mostly just had Instant and Creature, and while each Pyro doing 2 with Nantuko is good, I think Rumble was just better for their deck.
@@LucianDevine Oh don't get me wrong, I 100% agree with the rumble pick, it was just sad is all. Also I feel like for a 4 drop goyf it will often be pretty big without too much work between you and your opponent.
one of the best videos on the channel, thanks guys
I really thought it was over when they went mana crypt soul ring into ajani and bomba
You and me both
Opponent super misplayed.
This one was a lot of fun. The fusion of springheart nantuko nonsense with RG goodstuff made so many draw steps feel live and exciting
"We pass the turn with 7 raging ravines in play" is such a beautiful sentence. Vintage cube is so beautiful sometimes.
The craziest thing about this for me, other than the 7 Raging Ravine's, is that there were 2 Boros drafters. Both got pretty respectable decks, and the one that got to the finals had neither Sacred Foundry or Plateau!
Amazing deck and matches for the ages. The only questionable really tough turn is m3g2 when you lose Minsc and Boo to kill the token and then play Ring over Bloodbraid. Seems like maybe there are other lines there somewhere. Impossibly tough position though, not sure what was right.
Yeah came here to see if anyone posted this. Bloodbraid, -2 minsc on bloodbraid just seems so much better. Kills phelia. Decent odds to get another 4 mana and keep the party going. I am really confused why this line seemed better. Sick deck though.
I also think m3g3 it was a really big mistake to evoke fury. Its actually pretty hard to draw 4 cards and have that be better than having bloodbraid and fury in hand when you're untapping for 5 mana, I think its only possible at all if you draw greaves.
Just playing Challenger and putting counters on Boo and slamming at Wandering Emperor with a 4/4 trample & 4/3 haste seems way better, even without foreknowledge that we also would have hit Laelia off of Challenger. Sacrificing a bunch of our stuff and playing One Ring instead of Bloodbraid was the most tempo negative play possible, giving up board presence for future card draw, which really did not feel like where the game was at to me.
This is giving me LAN party memories, lol. Love it.
So many lessons in the absurdity of vintage cube. Thanks for a heck of a video!
What a thriller!!! The stakes make these drafts so good! You two have been amazing!
I think Jitte is valuable enough to play it in Round 3, you just mentioned that the deck has no lifegain. Not even mentioning Jitte is very strong against any aggressive deck if you have enough creatures, which you have. Anyway amazing! Draft and games! Well done
It's kind of a tough call, given what they saw game 1. They saw Fiery Confluence, Phlage, and Wandering Emperor for removal, in addition to Giver and Phelia to either prevent combat damage on attack or blink the creature or Jitte when it attacks. We also saw that the opponent had Touch the Spirit Realm and Sunfall as well. The odds of keeping a creature on the board equipped with Jitte just wasn't very good. We also don't know if they had things like Path or Swords in their deck as well.
Aww, I was really pulling for you. More so than usual. This really felt epic and had some amazing plays/combos.
Awesome deck and it felt like you missed the trophy by the slimmest of margins.
I love how BK inherited LSV’s luck when the first opponent opened on mana crypt, sol ring but was immediately bailed out when the opponent spectacularly punted the game away.
That second match was hilarious, and very unique
Passing Arid Mesa and wooded foothill. How times have changed.
While Arid Mesa is on the top 50, and Nadu isn't, I think the sheer power level of Nadu versus the fact that they only had 1 triome to fetch, makes the pick pretty defensible. The same kind of goes with Wooded Foothills versus Skullclamp. Wooded Foothills is of course the perfect fetch, but they had 3 mana dorks to kill with it, Lotus Cobra, Nantuko, and Nadu in their deck already. It's a pretty sick card in their deck.
High-five at 43:21 is life-affirming.
In that opening pick, for me it's pretty easy. They are both about the same power level blind imo, so you want the proactive threat, rather than the reactive answer. Make them have an answer for your Boo. Unless the answer card is far superior to the threat, in limited I'd rather have the threat.
Added to the notes 🙇♂️🙇♂️
Yup, when in doubt, it's always better to be on the threat end of the equation, unless the cards in question are VASTLY different in power level, or it's so late in the draft and you need the answer because you are very threat dense.
The decision point at 2:03:41 (where they threw the 1/1 Boo token) was interesting. I assume that was the correct line since LSV and BK both seemed happy with it, but my instinct was to use Minsc to put 3 counters on Boo, then attack Wandering Emperor with Boo and the 3/3 land. Either Wandering Emperor dies, or they chump and lose Giver of Ruins and the 1/1 soldier token, and Emperor goes down to 2 loyalty. Phelia kills the Boo token, but you're left with a 3 loyalty Minsc and 7 loyalty Nissa they have to deal with (plus a One Ring). Maybe I'm missing something.
as soon as you drafted the springheart + nissa i was so excited to see some combo shenanigan. I had done in a draft and was excited.. love to see it working out.
Good run
55:29 I played and watched a lot of Jund back in the day with Bob/DRS/Bloodbraid and that's the first time I see someone activate Ravine twice to get two counters, guess you learn something new everyday
That's crazy, it used to come up in Standard a lot for me
Best content I’ve seen in ages. Really got me hooked on vintage cube, WP both
Imagine making a 64 and having your opponent be the 2 headed giant of LSV and BK. Seems fair. GL!
Love the troll from Luis at 56:53 😂
Amazing draft, had me laughing with the wild interactions.
Im literally giggling over her watching these raging ravine duplications
Honestly thought this was going to be a "Look a bonus team draft!" after turn 2 of game 1.
It's official, we've broken Raging Ravine 😂
Lsv giggling while they make seven raging ravines is the best content.
wow. the games were insane. what a ride.
....
You'll get them next time!
heart breaker but amazing video, one of the best on the channel. GGs
lsv and bk high five more in a single draft than I think i have in my entire life.
that's the love of the game.
Incredible draft, great deck, fantastic games, sorry it ended the way it did, but thanks for the awesome content!
That start from oppo in g1 was nasty and hilarious
This was so good. Seriously amazing stuff.
got to be one of my favorite lsv videos of all time and i’ve watched most of them!
"Hottest September ever" 😂😂😂
Thnx NPC
No problem 😊
Risen Reef + Nantuko is a real thing, you don't know until you see it
EDIT forget it. Just watched the game and I guess Forest + Nantuko is a thing too lol
I thought this was going to be an awesome draft, and it ended up being so so much better than I hoped haha
Both you guys rock. Can't help but feel that 2headed playing this event is against the spirit of competition.
This was awesome to watch! Very thrilling and entertaining!
The most interesting video you've released in a while. Thank you.
Check back tomorrow =p
'ArE yOu LeArNiNg ThInGs?' >trollfaec
Great matches. Well played, BK!
The student has become the master.
Great games. What a show! Magic is such a good game.
the Nantuko + animated forest line was wild to watch
Absolutely insane matches
Lsv teaching his son BK how to rule the world when daddy's gone
LSV can win cube games vicariously watching another player. He's just like me fr
That was some sweet land nonsense. I would have liked to see Emrakul picked up to go with Through the Breach and Channel. Nice to get some free win equity.
"You're not doing it correctly." 😂😂😂
What a rollercoaster! Great brawl BK! ❤
Robbed from a win. So close. Great games Bois.
Seeing LSV recommend skullclamp over wooded foothills was WILD
Match 3 Game 1: didn’t matter but I’d probably vote for The One Ring on that Council’s Judgment 1:51:50
Great video. Escaping Bloodbraid Challenger over ticking down Minsc on the 1/1 Boo felt like the better play to me. Not sure.
Super intense last game!
Pretty intense good match good plays
damn that first opponent's first start
Lsv congratulating bk at 1:34:00 is wholesome
wow m2g2 sure was a rager. love that interaction!
Peak content boys, great banter, great deck, great matches and hilarious combos
In the last game, on the fury turn. I kind of like playing elf, attacking with Gut and sac elf to make a 4/1, and then play fury second main. If the block Gut, you can take their creature down and still get 2 Nadu triggers, otherwise you still make the same play but got in for 6.
Oh man, what an ending. Heartbreaker. Opponent ended at 5, but who can say if playing the fury turn differently would have made a difference because things would have played out a lot differently if the block with Adeline to only take 4 and BK doesn’t get 2 cards deeper, which they do if they know they are wrathing.
I'm not sure if this was at all reasonable, but post combo, if you had eternal witness, you could have drawn your deck, then killed the land with springheart nantuko on it, used e-wit to get the springheart back, place it on the eternal witness, then, using either fastbond or shifting woodlands on fastbond, you could have either gotten back the one ring from your graveyard / cast the one ring / sacrificed the one ring to gut in order to not die to fastbond triggers, then use each of your lands to copy the e-wit, looped lightning bolt for the win. If you had to sac the one ring to gut, you WOULD lose the infinite mana from the original combo, but im as long as the one ring and gut arent in your graveyard AND you don't have enough life to use 1 life to deal 3 to them (via the e-wit + bolt loop) AND you don't have enough mana for the bolt loop to work, you could just wait to put the springheart on the nantuko until your second mainfase.
These board states were fun to watch
Luis just let the man do his thing
So many raging ravines! Nantuko was mvp this draft
sick draft and matches!!!!
Absolutely heart-breaking
Man if nissa was still alive that forest would have gone infinite 😂
what an unreal run boys
That Round 3 game 2 lose was so low odds.
damn heartbreak, it was a sick deck
damn, someone should clip this.
step 1. kinda low on picking raging raving.
step 2. make a ton of raging ravine copies.
step 3. chant raging ravine raging ravine!
This deck was SICK
As always. I see BK I like and watch
I'm only as far as opponent's turn 1 of game 1 round 1 but have you considered doing an exorcism on the house? 😆
BK and Lsv clearly nothing can go wrong...
next lsv is gonna get his kids a drum kit
1:39:30, can't you take birds, play grieves and equip and then bolt? or is that just too weak like they said - but it gets rid of SfM so they can't Kaldra
My kingdom for a Blanchwood Armor 😅
lsv is the best hypeman
Damn. That game 2 match 3 was definitely winnable. Just a few small decisions here and there. Good games. Thanks for making this sacrifice to the youtube gods, BK
I don't think I've ever seen a Risen Reef on the stack in any of my matches. Why is it in the cube?
I'm surprised Emrakul got no consideration given the spec pick of breach (it was collapsed into the sideboard)
who else was checking the video length after the start of the first game
@01:39:30 any thought to taking birds, playing birds greaves, equip, bolt?
Our land does work on Kaldra it doesn’t work on the token then right?
Would have taken Bonehoard Dracosaur over Questing Beast, it wins the game by itself if unanswered.
Sick run
Is it just me… or does BK say “yea” before proceeding to actually talk every single time. For like… years now
YES. that's true. you're right. Aha. yea, ok. YEAH. yah, i think so. yea, yea yea!
1:49:48 it would be hilarious if after all that the opponent just plays parallax wave and decks you off of nadu triggers
