The number of times I have clicked on a video and started learning something, only to find out it wasn't correct? Well, too many. Time wasted. Here, you play it first, and it is CLEARLY correct, and thus, I shall watch and learn. Great job! (as always!)

This gentleman kicks with originals and lessons. Sure if he wants to can play most acoustic parts of any tune. This guitarist is one of the few who got it right even thou this song I heard in Amarillo Texas in the early 1970's with Nancy Wilson mesmerizing me by her acoustical abilities. Remember this that he is showing was created before, most likely, before 1970. So learning old stuff ain't bad. Yes!
You are incredibly talented. I'm always amazed at your understanding of the instrument.Very impressed with your videos and you do a great job revealing the song. And also a heart felt thank you for your contributions. Very decent of you.
Took me a whole week to digest this into something playable. Now I'm on to speed it up and perfect it. Thank you so much! Great video that i highly recommend.
Choice. I fortunately saw Nancy do this lick back on 1970's in Amarillo, Tecas, and this sealed my belief that women can rock n roll: even thou my only buddy disagreed. Seeing Nancy do this intro acoustically, took my mind off of the ladies fine look. This lesson is choice and a great help after so many years. Even just viewing the movements for an oldie like me is a gift. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I learned this about a year ago from another tutorial but some elements I knew were not sounding right. Thank you for this breakdown I can see where I was going wrong now particularly on the second phase with the lead up to the harmonic notes. It's so tough to keep the rhythm with the time signature changing twice. Nearly cracked it now though!
Another excellent tutorial worth digging into. And, is it just me, or is the rhythm guitar in Heart one of the most criminally overlooked masterpieces in classic rock? Maybe I'm biased as a life long fan or maybe it's just really an exceptional foundation she lays down and then accompanies with her own exceptional vocals that are also oft overlooked as its easy to focus of the lead parts of both guitar and vocals and miss what's going on underneath it all.
Wtf i just learned this two days ago and searched for a video on your account because youre pretty much the best in the biz and there wasnt any so i looked somewhere else and now you post this haha. Keep rocking dude I love your channel.
Been in love with this song and the Wilson sisters since 1977 when I first heard Dreamboat Annie on a turntable. Your detailed instructions and tips for success are very helpful. I’m an older musician coming back to guitar, so I really do appreciate that you conclude your tutorial by playing the whole intro at reduced speed. Subscribed, many thanks 👍🎸
Your ability to hybrid pick with your fingers while holding a pick (a la Bron y Aur Stomp) is impressive. Wouldst that my fingers would so diligently follow what I hear in my head! 🥴 You’re simply the best instructor I’ve seen online. Been playing most every day for over 40 years. I’m hardly a newbie.
Above my skill level but this video made it seem approachable. I've been working on it for the past couple of days and although it is at a SUPER slow speed, I can't believe I got the first two parts down. Been working this for a few years now... Finally got it down ...loved this song since my dad's ex gf left her LP collection behind in 81. This lesson is better than any tab I've studied...and even Nancy's vid. I hear the zep influence on this track
I just saw a video two days ago, with Nancy showing this exact thing. One thing that stuck out, as it would for any guitarist, is that she never plays it exactly the same way each time. The short vid tackled the intro and then the driving beginning and that was it. Probably a 1990's video. Starting in Am. Yours is very detailed and, as always, to the point informative. Her point, I attack at times and then I lay back and play. Good to mix it up! Glad you are back in the swing and putting out these great lessons.
Thanks for this lesson! A great intro to classical style playing from a timeless rock tune and the great Nancy Wilson. That Taylor you're playing sounds incredible.
Thank you for such a great video! It's extremely difficult to teach something that the player does instinctively, let alone change it up all the time. Jimmy Page is the same way. You can learn absolutes with tablature but that doesn't mean it's going to sound right. And I think that's a fallacy of a lot of new players.....there are no absolutes! What's far more important is getting the rhythm, groove, and feel for the song. Sure, Nancy is playing within structure but more importantly is how she relies on muscle-memory and what works within the framework. That isn't something inherent to beginning guitarists, it take years to develop the "feel". What I love about your lesson is the ability to "slow it down" when one is most comfortable playing and teaching at full speed. It's like slowing down hitting a golf ball..... muscle-memory doesn't like being slowed down. Great lesson and thank you once again!
Been waiting for this forever and now know I'll never play it. But perhaps others will. Love this channel because you do some stuff for me but also challenge those who have real talent.

Thanks so much for posting this lesson! After 20+ years on and off trying to get this one down I've finally pretty much got it, I just have to polish it a little and it'll be where I want it. I'd say, if you can't get this intro down by following along with this lesson, you either need to keep working on it or keep practicing till you're skilled enough to learn it. I really appreciate your attention to detail and accuracy on this one! The one thing I've noticed playing along with the studio recording though is it seems I'm having to do some very slight palm muting throughout the entire bit. I'm not sure if that's what she's doing or if I'm just hearing it that way but again thanks for such a great and accurate lesson! I've checked your site and found a few more that I plan to learn from you mainly because they are so accurate and secondly because I appreciate the way you break things down and explain without over explaining. Thanks!!!
I've tried so many other videos on learning this intro and was always lost. Gave up many times. Finally an in depth lesson on everything I've been doing wrong. Hybrid picking is something I need to work on but I actually can follow what's going on now and will be practicing until I get it ! Thank you for the great lesson !🙏 Subscribing and hitting that bell

Nancy is far under rated and one of the best.
Your skill level is second only to your ability to teach. You're the best man.
Been playing guitar for 17 years and ive always thought this was such a badass riff but never thought i could learn it wish me luck
One of the all time great intros in rock ! Thanx
Wow! Thanks for breaking that classic intro so well.
Thank you I always wanted to play this and after seeing this nothing changes on my end
Your ability to hybrid pick with your fingers while holding a pick (a la Bron y Aur Stomp) is impressive.
Wouldst that my fingers would so diligently follow what I hear in my head! 🥴
You’re simply the best instructor I’ve seen online. Been playing most every day for over 40 years. I’m hardly a newbie.
Clear and detailed on how to play and where your fingers should go and pick on the strings to me is a great way to learn!!
Above my skill level but this video made it seem approachable. I've been working on it for the past couple of days and although it is at a SUPER slow speed, I can't believe I got the first two parts down. I am so happy with the progress, that I had to go to his site and donate. You should all do the same!
Thank you Andy for this channel, this is "old school" when music was everything!
This is by far, the best serious "Guitar Channel" on TH-cam.
Don't waste your time on any other channel if you truly want to play what you hear on the record!
Thank You for doing it right Andy ..
Wow, thanks!
@@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials my privilege sir, your attention to detail is second to none bro, even your mixes!
Wow youre an amazing player. This is such a difficult intro and you make it look so easy. Great playing
160 thousand views - eventually all 5 of us will have mastered this song 👍😏
😂👍
I so grateful to guys like yourself who can teach these great riffs for even a novice like myself def one of the harder songs ive tryed to learn but im getting there. About half way thru now going over and over and over again im desperate to crack this one haha. Thank you for your lessons.❤
Thank you so very much! You made it so easy for me to learn it and play it now! I'll be happy to enjoy this one with my friends, much-appreciated man! Cheers from Colombia!
Great job. Fun tune. It took so work but the audience will love it.
Dude this is the best lesson for this u nailed it for me thank u bro. Love it love the taylor too
He is an incredible musician. Love the stories before the lessons. Lessons with a background story.
andy is the BEST. ever. our awesome guitar teacher! you guys, buy his “shut up and play” tee shirt! great way to support our teacher! and when you wear it, people will ask you about it. and then we’ll get more peeps to watch Andy! merry christmas to you, Andy, and all you Andy students! looking forward to more incredible lessons!!!!
This is exactly what I've been waiting for!
Thanks!!!
Excellent....ive got it coming along nicely now after a 4 hour epic session today... .but its worth it
It's about freaking time! This song was begging for a SU&P feature for so-o-o-o-o long.
so grateful for this its too amazing its too good more people need to see this
I've tried so many other videos on learning this intro and was always lost. Gave up many times. Finally an in depth lesson on everything I've been doing wrong. Hybrid picking is something I need to work on but I actually can follow what's going on now and will be practicing until I get it ! Thank you for the great lesson !🙏 Subscribing and hitting that bell
Awesome lesson as usual. Whenever you want to learn to play a song the way it was recorded, this is definitely the channel to come to. Always a pleasure to stop in here, learn a new song and end up being a better guitar player for it. Thank you!
I've been practicing for over a year now. Finally a good lesson. Thanks!
HEY "SHUT UP & PLAY" !! WOW!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Like all the others who wanted to learn this song, i too have had a serious "chub on" when i hear this song the hair on the back of my neck just stands up and applaudes!
GREAT, GREAT TRANSLATION!! Keep up the good work, and have a FANTASTIC 2021....
Respectfully, Greg
I think the intro is technically a song in and of itself called “Steel Wheels.”
Always love your lessons!
Silver Wheels🙂
That was on a later album
@@jaybiles4802 Bebe Le Strange, but it was just another part of the same song, called Silver Wheels. She played that on a classical guitar tuned down a half step. If you check out just about any live performance of Crazy On You, she weaves it all together along with bits and pieces of other songs, like Hijinks from Dog and Butterfly is usually in there. And sometimes a little of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.
Ya on dreamboat Annie. The album. It was the intro to crazy on ya. Always plays them together live
This man can play way better than Marty Schwartz , I’m surprised he doesn’t have more subscribers.
You Tube is full of anomalies like that, It's not always about who has the most sheer skill and expertise on the subject. There are more people in boot camp than the special operations class.
I've started learning from Marty, "Babe I'm going to leave you" on his channel and then stumbled across Andy's version, night and day, no going back!
Marty gets subscribers like crazy I’m nit hating on him but Carl Brown is way more detailed
Marty's teaching is perfect for beginners!
This channel > Carl Brown > Marty Schwartz.
Holy crap thanks man! Love it
This is a beauty. Thank you for this well done instruction. I'll go crazy on this starting tomorrow. Love it !
I now know what I'm going to do on my Christmas vacation. Thank you very much for this excellent lesson
Great work. This is a bucket list song for me. I've worked on it some but never got through it. This is motivating me to get at it once again. Thanks!
I immediately bought her vhs a long time ago in order to have her teach me the right way of playing the song only to be disappointed that she did not go into note for note ;p( !! Thank you for your great lessons Sir !!!
Perfection. Period.
Yo I have watched too many of your great Vids and have not commented. Thank you. I appreciate the work you do here; great song!
Excellent playing and appreciate the way you broke it all down.
My GOD! You're a guitar ANIMAL!!! Maybe the next tune you can do is a one note melody of Jingle Bells for those of us who will try mightily, but fail miserably in getting this one down. Thank you for breaking this one down so beautifully.
You have some serious skill! So well executed! And such clean playing! I wanna be like you when I grow up. And I'm 52. Seriously, I love your tutorials even though I can't ever play as well as you. Keep up the great videos!
Cool. Time to try this again. Perfect rendition of how it was played. Nancy will have to learn it again from this. She is still great today playing
Even if you can’t nail it note for note or every section it’s ace just jamming with it. I really struggle to get the pull off 1-0 on the b string on the a minor part. Perfecting that’s taking ages.
Absolutely terrific! Clear as a bell. Can’t believe you’ve never covered this Canadian duo before.
Why do people consider them Canadian? Originated in Washington
Damn, just damn! I can only pretend to appreciate the difficulty of learning this and then breaking it down the way you do and creating such a high quality video production for this lesson. Thank you Andy for the early Christmas present.
Thank you very much!
Andy, you are so Effin' Good! Thanks for all the lessons!! 😃👍
Stunning
Thanks for sharing your incredible talent with us!! You are certainly a well accomplished musician!!🎸
Thanks. I was trying to learn this on RockSmith. No way, no way, no way. Your lesson immediately made it clear
Absolutely amazing lesson! It is comprehensive, compact and understandable. Thank you so much!
Great lesson! Thanks for taking the time for this.
What a great lesson. Thx!
