Man check out the Hoyt Bowhunting Podcast that featured Beau from a few years ago. Dude is a legend. Think it was 'Turkey Call Masterclass' or something like that.
As good as it, after 45 years in the turkey woods I pretty much use exactly those same sounds and it worked for me for years. But I learned it through the school of hard knocks and listening to a lot of birds not people. But that’s some outstanding calling Mr Brooks, keep bringing it especially for new hunters.
I can’t watch you work without smiling man. You definitely have a real gift. It is beyond cool that you are sharing your secrets. I am new to this and don’t have a lot of availability to hunt. It is really a blessing to have content like yours out there. I will definitely be paying attention to your stuff. Thanks man!
I learned how to do all these calls just using my mouth without a reed and I seriously improved my calls when I’m using a reed. You learn better control over your diaphragm and other muscles. I went an entire season without using any call devices. I called 2 jakes and a Tom in the second day to within 20 yards.
In the part of the PA Appalachian Mt where I grew up, I was always told that when cutting could be interpreted as a warning call for other birds. I’m not sure if it’s because we do have a lot of coyotes in some areas or not, but we’ve witnessed the sharp cuts of birds dispersing when spooked. Curious to see if anyone else has seen or heard this?
Beau when i grow i hope im a quarter of a caller as you are... your my hero
