yeah but honestly thats what hell in the cell, cage and elimination chamber matches are used for. Wargames proved to be too much of a risk for the main roster. Wargames was cool when it was on nxt, Survivor series was completely fine when it was traditional 5 on 5/4 on 4 matches along with decent feuds and world title matches. Two rings, two cages, 10 guys + weapons + trying to memorize 30 spots in 20-25 mins sounds like fun but when you think about it, it wasn't needed especially in the type of pg/mainstream era their in. This year alone was probably the worst buildup to survivor series due to them only paying full attention on the og bloodline vs the new bloodline, could have done easily in a 5 on 5 with Punk purposely tagging Roman in the match instead of the shark cage spot
The thing is, they’re not “selling” it, cause they’re all real injuries that happened. Selling it would be having kayfabe injuries as angles and having them around for Rumble and Mania.
@@210Dinero Doesn't matter, you missed my point. You interpret kayfabe as being make believe, when that wasn't the concept of what kayfabe was supposed to be.
Sell it... how? Everybody knows that Reed got taken out by his own stupidity, by a deliberate unforced jump. It's not like Foley getting thrown off the cage and then chokeslammed through the cage roof by The Undertaker.
@henrygvidonas9573 WWE never said that Reed hurt himself doing a stupid stunt. That's people taking the piss out of wrestling being fake. Which is not buying or selling something through kayfabe.
"It's Tonga Loa....maybe he was walking" is fantastic! Reed was always going to end badly. When he does a regular Tsunami he never REALLY gets on the top rope. He goes outside and gets one foot on the top rope, the other outside the ring on the second rope, and he pushes off with the one foot on the top rope, but he's never balanced on the top rope. It would still have been a spectacle if he had used the cage to just stand upright on the top rope and gone from there instead of the top of the cage. That might have made the CM Punk save look a bit less than it did on the night, but maybe Reed would still be available for the Rumble and Wrestlemania.
That wasn’t even a splash from Reed. It looked like a newborn bird being thrown out of the nest feet first trying to fly and flapping its wings as hard as it can.

To be fair the spot itself was great. I remember it. The timing of Punk pulling of Roman was perfect. Though that might have screwed Bronson because it seemed like he wanted to slow his splash by landing on his feet first.

I mean, if you were to go one on one with another wrestler and you happen to get injured thats an injury rate of 50%, so since only 3 out of the 10 wrestlers in the match got injured thats like a 33 and a third percents rate of injury, meaning the injuries go drastically down
And that’s why the Memphis territory for years said nothing higher than second rope. To avoid injuries and it still looked good. When I was a kid seeing Lawler with the strap down jumping off the second rope to drop a right hand on someone was fantastic.
Same as Edge, I just don’t get how these professionals can’t look ahead to an outcome of what they’re doing. Far too many people doing shit that people that heavy/tall just shouldn’t do. To be honest the War Games should not be a regular thing. It worked in NXT, but it doesn't work on the major stage. Not all things work as they did on NXT
Dive off the cage isn't the problem its guys who jumped and got scared and tried to land on their feet. If they committed to the dive like say Snuka who you can see from his dive he kept his ankles up during the splash. Both Edge and Bronson jumped but had their feet pointed to the ground. You gotta keep your body flat and keep your ankles pointed up towards the sky.
Well, not to mention that Snuka was flying on the wings of mountains of cocaine, on top of an industrial-strength-steroid-fuelled confidence. He probably could have dived head first into the ring floor and not felt anything. At first...
If there were ever three injuries in a single AEW match the people would be out there with pitchforks , but bc it’s WWE all of a sudden it’s an awesome angle to sell the dangers of the War Games match?
I fractured my Talus bone in my ankle last year in a Car accident. I have a stainless steel plate and screws in my ankle now. Didn't walk for 4 months i still cant run and walk with a limp still hurts like hell somedays. I really don't know how Bronson is going to recover fully from this lucky he probably has some of the best medical care rn. Sucks cuz he was getting some good momentum. What a terrible spot hope he recovers.
Reminds me of Rikishi splashing Val Venis from the top of the cage in 2000. How Rikishi didn't break something there was a miracle. How do you protect your feet and wrists landing like that?! These guys have my respect.
Just when I was starting to be a fan of the guy, Bronson Reed does a silly spot like that and gets injured and now he's going to miss out on the RR and Mania.
On the one hand, it sells WarGames as this legitimate battle where guys get injured. On the other hand, I hope this leads to Wargames being more exclusive to work just once a couple of years or similar, and the company instead focusing on the Traditional Survivor Series 5v5 matches. Side Note: I remember Tommaso Ciampa doing the air raid crash on Adam Cole in during a TakeOver: Wargmes match, from the top of the cage. For all the comments we give Adam Cole about being tiny, he was all well and good the next day for his Survior Series 1v1.
@10:11 YES! Dudes hands were like TWICE the size of a normal human, AND they were made of stone and LOOKED like it too😅. Shaking his hand reminds me of when i shake hands with a 5 year old. 😂 For a true comparison.
I agree with Father Jim. There was absolutely no fucking reason for Bronson Reed to go off the cage. It was completely unnecessary. This injury will affect him for the rest of his career. It was just stupid.
This was the 2nd time io has done that trash can spot, at a minimum. I’ve seen it once before, they may have done it more. It looks ridiculous to me, and I don’t understand how putting the trash can over your own head helps you at all. It’s a spot that deserves to go the way of the “Canadian destroyer” or Adam Cole’s sunset flip move. It requires far too much cooperation and when it’s over, you aren’t quite sure who took what.
Well, they say Wargames is where you leave everything in the ring, but this is insane. Bronson had a memorable spot, but it reminds us too much of Edge got hurt. Jimmy and Tama's injuries were unexpected.
Bronson same as the Edge injury, can't be landing feet first without expecting injuries. Looks like they're scared to commit but actually seems to be more dangerous.
No injuries on the women's side and they were more sloppy and their match was more violent than the boring men's one. So who are the more professionals again?
Vader and Yokozuna were both big guys, and arguably, their most devastating moves both involved them jumping off the second rope. It was sold that they were hospitalising people with internal injuries with those moves. The short distance covered the weight of the guy's doing the moves to try and keep people as safe as possible, but it was believable that they were nearly killing other guy's with those moves and they had stories built around how dangerous they both were. What do you gain by moving these big guy's up to jump off the top rope, or top of a cage, when they (for safety reasons) will never be allowed to land those moves? All you're doing is asking them to risk injuring themselves, as happened here to Bronson Reed - there was never going to be a story for him that would be built off the back of taking that bump. His normal "off the top rope" move (where he is really on the second rope, but pushes himself forward using one foot on the top turnbuckle) could be booked to take other guy's out, just like with big guy's of the past, and it would still be believable. They just wanted a cheap pop & a story for 2 other guy's, not the one taking the risk. Bad booking decision & stupid for him to agree to do it, when it was never going to pay off for him.
I’m with Brian. WWE needs to be the women’s version of Survivor Series, a TRADITIONAL Survivor Series match. And let the men have the War Games version.
Tonga Loa my GOAT I was watching him carefully throughout I think he did hurt his arm on the toolbox he looked like he got clipped and was more or less gone for the rest of the match
Anytime a big guy is about to do something stupid like that they should think about Sid. Bronson is lucky he didn’t hurt himself even worse than he did. He’s stupid for doing it and whoever told him to do it should be ashamed of themselves.
I would have been perfectly happy if Tiffy Time hit the Swanton off the cage, Jimmy hit the big Uso Splash off the cage, then Bronson just hitting the Tsunami off the top rope. No reason to send Bronson off the cage. Sending Iyo in the trash can was stupid. Especially since she's already done it in the past. Don't need the member berries.

To be honest the War Games should not be a regular thing. It worked in NXT, but it doesn't work on the major stage. Not all things work as they did on NXT
It was the spot where Punk did save Roman from Reed’s tsunami splash.
Those injuries are very expensive Douglas.
Well, not to mention that Snuka was flying on the wings of mountains of cocaine, on top of an industrial-strength-steroid-fuelled confidence. He probably could have dived head first into the ring floor and not felt anything. At first...
You think they wanted to land on their feet? They know what to do, they just fucked it up when they went to do it for real.
A million wrestlers have jumped off the top of a cage, including Rikishi. Its pointless now.
Flair having a broken finger and being mad because he can't throw chops seems like such a Flair thing.
If there were ever three injuries in a single AEW match the people would be out there with pitchforks , but bc it’s WWE all of a sudden it’s an awesome angle to sell the dangers of the War Games match?
I said the same thing... why was it even needed?
Sky's spot makes me nervous. The amount of things that have to go right...even a regular dive through the ropes can go wrong.
With his size ,Bronson Reeds injury will probably have a lasting effect on him the rest of his life
Well Wargames lived up to how dangerous that cage is
Iyo does that trash can spot every cage match like this going all the way back to NXT.
Not a fan of it, everytime she gets put into this match I already know she's just there for that dumb trash can spot.
@chrishernandez3699 it's OK, but no one else needs to jump off the top that night.
I thought Brian was the one who took tolls on joints 🤣😂🤣
I fractured my Talus bone in my ankle last year in a Car accident. I have a stainless steel plate and screws in my ankle now. Didn't walk for 4 months i still cant run and walk with a limp still hurts like hell somedays. I really don't know how Bronson is going to recover fully from this lucky he probably has some of the best medical care rn. Sucks cuz he was getting some good momentum. What a terrible spot hope he recovers.
I'm sorry War Games should still have a top on the cages and no need for all the damn furniture. The best is still the first one.
Bronson is about to be way over when he's back.
No he isnt.....no one will remember that spot by the end of the month
Based on what exactly?
@@trahapace150 Delusional.
We’ll see
How could Jim and Bryan forget that Bronson missed splashing Roman because CM Punk missed him. That was an important moment of the match.
Jim Awesome Shoot Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
Corny always worried about the girls getting hurt in gimmicked matches and the men are the ones limping away from ss
Man, poor Bronson Reed. And right when they were starting to push him too.
1:45 Synn's got pins?
Reminds me of Rikishi splashing Val Venis from the top of the cage in 2000. How Rikishi didn't break something there was a miracle. How do you protect your feet and wrists landing like that?! These guys have my respect.
8:03 that popped me lmao
Just when I was starting to be a fan of the guy, Bronson Reed does a silly spot like that and gets injured and now he's going to miss out on the RR and Mania.
WarGames got Big Jim's big toe.
Didn't edge just get a similar injury doing the same shit in aew a couple months ago?
Let’s go back to the elimination style survivor series next year. No more war games, to protect talent.
I thought jimmy uso broke his sternum, he hit the splash sternum first
Probably his own idea
Nobody got hurt from those vicious Nia Jax chair shots?
They gotta give Loa his eye patch back
I was just happy CM Punk didn't hurt himself..lol
They want him to have a Cage Match with either Gunther or Rollins though 🙄
TBF Vader would moonsault of the top on special occasions...maybe big guys need 2 finishers a house show one and a ppv one.
example, If roman somehow injured himself when he did that cage dive, they probably would have reconsidered taking war games back to nxt lol
I'm glad they showed the X-ray of the injuries to show hey this shit is dangrous don't try this at home remember those ads i cause i do
I think Tonga Loa's injury is kayfabe. I think they wanted to write him off of TV
Damn that sucks. Bronson Reed can’t catch a break smh.
technically he did catch a break
This is outlaw mudshow level.
3 guys injured in one instantly forgettable match.
Honestly I loved that spot

I do think that the bump is legendary and will be remembered. BUT he might have filled out half of his bump card in that one spot.
I feel like this was such a dumb risk for WWE. Bronson was already over, now it will kill his momentum as he’s out for a year.
