@@paulhope3401 Other drivers at his level seem to manage. I like Randy Pobst's description of racing as being like chess. You need to learn your opponent, and position yourself in a way that gives you an opportunity. Watch how your opponent defends, see where on the track you are stronger than they are, anticipate how they will cover you, and position yourself so that when they do so they expose themselves to your strengths. It's a game of tactics and psychology as much as it is raw pace. Max doesn't do that. He torpedoes up the inside and forces the other driver to back out or crash. It's not so much a chess move as a sucker punch.
@@t_z1030 You paint a nice picture but against drivers of a similar level you are very rarely going to be given these opportunities... especially on a track like that with short straights, close car equality and in a train.. going into the corner is literally going to be where the only real opportunities are. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate it being done to me.. but I accept that if it has been done cleanly and I haven't been punted off the track, then I just haven't defended well enough. I've always gone with Senna's famous saying.. 'When you no longer go for the gap, you are no longer a racing driver' I absolutely do agree that Max is the most aggressive driver in F1 and does it more than most but everyone does do it (in F1) to lesser degree and it is largely accepted and within the rules. Can you imagine the Stewards banning late braking as a means of attack? There would be no more real racing other than maybe a few DRS passes on the straights and the sport would simply wither away. It has to be part of it.
Change the title to "Race Driver Reacts to Max Verstappen's Sim Racing DIVEBOMBS" As much as I agree to other comments, that Max is giving as little respect as possible, the title is very misleading 'cause Max is NOT ALWAYS like this. Reflecting on this video: Are you a good overtaker when most of the times you have to rely on the other driver to avoid you? Maybe you are just a "bully" driver. "Get out of my way or we'll crash!"
I love to see Max drive. He sure is very very good; That second overtake however was quite risky. The gap between the two cars ahead was very small. I'm sure the overtaken driver will have cursed.
Is there actually footage max making an overtaking without a divebomb or shunting a car off track? How he’s alive is down to car and track safety improvements over the last 3 decades
I honestly don't get why people have a problem with lunges down the inside. As long as you make the corner, it's a fair move in my book. It's the whole reason why defensive driving exists, a driver in front with some one right behind should defend the inside of the corner! If they don't, that's their problem.
If you do that and someone is overly aggressive, then you are guranteed to get rammed. You can only defend against it if the guy going for it is willing to stop the commitment. You typically are in real life, not so much in the sim
Pretty sure there was contact in T1 at the 6 min marker... if the other car wouldhave made the corner, he wouldhave showed up at the 90 degree angle that verstappen was facing at the track. Verstappen held space for just about 1 car towards his right. Harsch driving though, but simular cars demand shouldershoving like this, alas. As the bop has changed this game into a play of of inches, not feet or yards. Nice analysis though, thanks for the insights! And sorry for being late to the party... #youtubealgorythm
Do an analysis of Jarno Opmeer! He's a real-life racing driver but is more well-known for his F1 Esports career. Would be interesting to see how his driving style changes playing Codemasters' F1 💯
Max is overly aggressive... for a regular driver. In his case though, he has the skill to pull off moves that most simracers wouldn't be able to. I also wonder how much simracing contributes to his ability and confidence to make those moves on the real track. It has to have some significance that he was able to try them out so many times in risk-free environment.
Max is untouchable, he can do about anything he wants and he knows it.. and he uses that privilege. He can push you off and receive no penalty... and he does that, deliberately, ALL THE TIME.
As said in this video, Max relies on the other driver to avoid contact, which is wrong but so effective. The thing that annoys me is his complete one sidedness when someone else either doesn't back off and avoid the contact, or puts the same squeeze on him, then we hear "that's what happens when you don't leave space".

I've always felt that once you get to this level, besides waiting for others to make rare mistakes, dive bombing remains the only other real remaining option to get past. Not advocating it but can see why those not happy to just sit in the train... do it.
'When you no longer go for the gap, you are no longer a racing driver'
I absolutely do agree that Max is the most aggressive driver in F1 and does it more than most but everyone does do it (in F1) to lesser degree and it is largely accepted and within the rules.
Can you imagine the Stewards banning late braking as a means of attack? There would be no more real racing other than maybe a few DRS passes on the straights and the sport would simply wither away. It has to be part of it.
Change the title to "Race Driver Reacts to Max Verstappen's Sim Racing DIVEBOMBS"
As much as I agree to other comments, that Max is giving as little respect as possible, the title is very misleading 'cause Max is NOT ALWAYS like this. Depending on the situation, he'll either go mindlessly aggressive or cleverly patience. If you want to make a video as the title suggested, includes both.
A lot of the overtakes are contact just shoving the guy on the line off the tarmac. I mean is what is it but isn’t clean. I can do that shit too
Funniest part of the video is watching his partner react to his moves lol
2:58, yea you can see the contact right here, that's why he wasn't able to turn further, that was a savage lunge and he didn't make the corner at all LOL
Max's qualifying lap at Bathurst in the Audi GT3 (i think) in iRacing. 'Nuff said. :)
I'm pretty sure that was a lap record for the season as well.
Don’t see how that’s enough said, he didn’t move anyone in df the track during that lap, like he does every overtake
Roval impressed me so much. I have to see the one you're talking about.
Should title the video: How to get banned from online racing servers.
This would be nice have you go over more of his driving style given how hes crushin F1 and any sim he gets in!
Max The Great Dive Bomber..
1:54 look at Gianni( The guy below max) crossing himself :D
so basically kamikaze dive bomb and run people off the road like how he does it in F1 lmao
5:50 there certainly was a contact there - otherwise we would have seen the other car passing by on the track which didn't happen. This means that the other car was also out.
Alternative Title: Driver61 reacts to Max Verstappen being a prick in iRacing
Damn, his dives are worse than mine in Forza when I get fed up with the AI.
I imagine he enjoys it because in the real world he has to hold back while in the sim he can full yolo his aggression.
@@PresidentScrooge Youre blind then
@@PresidentScrooge Everybody can do that. People are not doing it not because they can't (all you have to do is break late with decent control) they are not doing it because it is an illegal move.
TLDW: best overtake is push everyone out of your way.
Max is the type of driver that does the thing and asks questions later
Max bringing his sim tactics into the real world it seems.
yeap. that video makes it clear!
art imitating life on some of those :)
Correct me if im worng but what I see is he is usually divebombing and expecting others to let him pass, I dont say it is not legit but I feel like if i do these moves in online lobbies I would hear some swears on me.
I'm a Max fan but your reaction to every move speaks volumes
more sim racing videos please!
Reflecting on this video: Are you a good overtaker when most of the times you have to rely on the other driver to avoid you? Maybe you are just a "bully" driver.
"Get out of my way or we'll crash!"
Hahaha babies, it's racing, gotta go for the overtake.
Max is testing the limits in Sim Racing that he doesn't have to do it in real life more often than he does anyway...
Do you have links to max’s races? Trying to find full races. He’s entertaining to watch but I can’t find any races
Team redline twitch
Using my stream VOD without giving me any credit? 😅
great video as always scott!
I hope he wins the championship
Managed more lunges than me on leg day
Dive bombs... Dive bombs everywhere
Max had 2 extra screens on the side, would have been better if we could see those views also.
I love to see Max drive. He sure is very very good; That second overtake however was quite risky. The gap between the two cars ahead was very small. I'm sure the overtaken driver will have cursed.
He’s too much confident coz he is an f1 driver resulting to be ambitious to everyone 😅
but not every real life driver is good at online sim racing. max is exception because he is a veteran in sim racing before entering f1.
With those parameters in mind I could abuse you in fair ways that would be totally unfair.
If you do that and someone is overly aggressive, then you are guranteed to get rammed.
You can only defend against it if the guy going for it is willing to stop the commitment. You typically are in real life, not so much in the sim
That last move was legendary
Pretty sure there was contact in T1 at the 6 min marker... if the other car wouldhave made the corner, he wouldhave showed up at the 90 degree angle that verstappen was facing at the track.
Verstappen held space for just about 1 car towards his right. Harsch driving though, but simular cars demand shouldershoving like this, alas. As the bop has changed this game into a play of
of inches, not feet or yards.
He was a real life driver, not anymore right?
@@wegpiraatjochem Not sure mate, I still see clips of his races on his other channel. Though those could just be archives, who knows?
@@francisferdzz yeah they are just archives. he was a racing driver until the money dried up so he went to sim racing
All the time you must leave the space
Outside view would be awesome to have.
@@stuartchadwick5940 lol just classic racing driver mentality tbh, wait 20 years and he'll be applauded for it like senna and schumacher
@@noturbrother I've said further down this thread that he's like a flashback to Schumacher. I don't remember much of Senna as I was young.
Applauded for their results but I'll never get behind that driving style, it's bad sportsmanship and I'll never be ok with it, in any sport.
His bleating and moaning after someone does something to him what he does to everyone makes you wonder what goes on in his brain. Does he think it's 1 rule for him and 1 for everyone else?
@@noturbrother there's something about guys who become world champions or have the skin to accomplish it. They can be rather unpleasant at times. Just like Jordan in the NBA, they were insufferable at times even by their own team mates. But the results.... The results are there. Even Lewis when he was in the hunt for his first title made some lunatic moves that sometimes cost him.
@ around 6:30 I think he just went over the kerb & caught the grass with the LR.
I’m not disagreeing that the grass played apart in encouraging the spin but Max had already lost traction as he went past the apex. Too much speed and too late on the brakes.
@@TheSnaveeelPlaysGames I agree. He did lose it wide already, Im just saying once his wheel actually touched the grass, that was when he completely lost it.. and It was a total DBag Rookie move. lol
@@fightlikabrave No arguments there 😂
Wow just like he does in a real car! The human torpedo
Max doesn’t pass people!
He breaks so late that he is setting up a no win situation for the other drivers: “ Legitimately defend and we crash or submit the place and we both carry on.”
Thats not passing, thats crash avoidance by the other driver that has a net effect of a position loss!
Agree that Alonso is a study of race craft!! Love that man.
Btw…not a Hamilton fan (at all) but atleast he’s a fair racer.
pretty much physically bullying others into submission or relenting their position, indeed
never was a big fan of Prost, but the guy played mindgames for laps on end to psych his opponents out until they'd make a mistake because of the pressure they were under.
like someone else in here said, max pretty much divebombs his way through.
I'll admit, I'll do that in singleplayer AI races too, but I really try to avoid it online, it's no fun for anyone and there's not an ounce of honor in it.
I'm just gonna leave this here: Still love your insight and have been taking a lot from your pointers. How to attack corners, look ahead, approach setup and overtakes... good stuff on both channels!
Old mate just straight up doesnt care about anyone else lol
Lol do you want the whole lobby cursing at you? Cuz unless you have like verstappen or Norris in your name, youd not be able to get away with half this lol
I think you could put a little bit more effort in this video. The situations you show from the first race could use some footage from outside. A simple TH-cam search would have resulted in the official broadcast from this race, plenty off images out there. This would've meant you actually knew what was going on, because you got it wrong when you said Max lost it on his own in Suzuka T1.
guys is really fast... but not a gentlemen in my opinion
Clearly that is Max's normal driving style as we have seen numerious times on the real world.
What if Mansell only shows examples of Verstappen overtaking rather aggressivly and causing contact?
Max overtake style: Controlled dive bomb!!
If I had to race max I'd just let him pass even if I was quicker and be happy with 2nd. Being anywhere near him looks like a DNF.
where did you find the videos??
Dive bombing! Big time!!!
Max way or the highway 🤷♂️
There must have been contact in turn 1 because the other car did not pass. They both spun.
He hit someone on that dive bomb.
So dirty. He just bullied everyone.
Max is a great driver.. but most of these moves are just crazy dive bombs that will end in contact1/2 the time
