One of the best around, no doubt!
@@WonderMommaOG Seconded - Jay and Amber's channel is utterly brilliant and I get to learn about a whole load of brilliant US bands I never knew about (being a Brit). Thank you both of you for putting in all the time and effort you have whilst working hard as teachers and bringing up wonderful children (+ showing them some of the amazing music you have experienced as well). We're a worldwide community and it's all thanks to you.
This is their first album. You guys need to listen to Zeppelin song "Tea for one". I think it's on Presence.
This song is such an amazing example of the conversation between Robert’s voice and Jimmy’s guitar.
One of the highlights of Led Zeppelin's first album is the way this song rolls into "How Many More Times" to end the album.
absolutely classic segue and never ever to be forgotten...i can hear it in my head and i havent played the album in 40 years.
Incredible first album, one of the best debut albums ever.
I saw P&P in 98 and they played how many more times, absolutely blew my mind 🤯
How many more times is my favorite off this album
P. S. Every FAVORITE Led Zeppelin tune is ALWAYS the last one you heard: until the NEXT one!! 😍🤩😍🤩😍
Too true!
It's always going to be the master class ' Achilles last Stand'
Truer words are not spoken
Written by the late great Willie Dixon, mastermind behind Chess Records ❤🎸
I knew some clown would mention that😮 fact is i dont recall hearing his version in my 66 years. Imagine that😂😂😂
@@Brandi6666 th-cam.com/video/4GO2nU57Ldk/w-d-xo.html
@@Brandi6666 Actually, this was originally written by Willie Dixon and he was appropriately credited as the author of this song on Led Zeppelins debut album.
@@Brandi6666 Sad. You should expand your horizons a bit.
Correct! And Zeppelin knot it out of the park
I've been lucky, I was 15 when this came out. That means I've been able to listen to it for 55 years now. Peace!
It’s insane the feeling, the pain, the soul in Plants voice at 20 yrs old, it sounds like he’s lived a lifetime. Blows my mind
Led Zeppelin Is The Best 👍
You still haven't heard the pinnacle Led Zeppelin blues song, which is a true masterpiece. The song is called "Since I've Been Loving You". Yes somebody bamboozled you into listen to a live version, as they have done with so many other reactors, but the true genius, the true masterpiece that is displayed by Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and Jimmy Page (not only as guitarist but as producer), manifests itself in this studio recording. You truly need to revisit this song, because the studio recording of "Since I've Been Loving You" will open your eyes to the true power, majesty and magic that was Led Zeppelin.
Peace
Couldn't agree with you more. All of the reactors choose the live MSG version, which has its merits, but nothing compared to the majesty of the studio version. The guitar solo in the studio version is one of the greatest, most emotional solos ever performed, and it was done in a single take. I think it easily compares to Comfortably Numb for emotionality. Generally speaking, I think all songs should be listened/reacted to in the album version first, since this was the band's artistic creation that they wanted to present to the audience. Concert tours are usually in support of albums, to enhance sales, and although some are quite excellent, their spontaneous nature usually reduces the quality somewhat.
Jordan did a reaction to the MSG performance of "Since..." in the early (pre-Amber) days. Although LZ3 is probably my favourite album, and "Since..." unquestionably my favourite studio track, I prefer the live version simply for the performance element.
@@stuBdoc, So perfectly stated! The only thing I would add is that many times live recordings on these classics were marginal at best and they may have performed, like 14 out of 15 days straight, and the lead singers voice was subpar at best. ALWAYS START WITH STUDIO VERSIONS FIRST!!
Yep. MSG was such a garbage show as far as zeppelin is concerned. If you want perfect zeppelin live, it has to be pre 1972 before plants voice went out and everything got over-bloated and long
When you have a chance check out Robert Plant in the 80's after Zeppelin - Tall Cool One - 29 Palms - Big Log - Heaven Knows - Ship of Fools - In the Mood
Big Log is one of favorite songs from the 80's. Actually, in any decade!
ALL GOOD ONES!!!
Love all these ❤
Also check out old Robert Plant. It's still good.
LED Zeppelin FOREVER, FOREVER LED Zeppelin. 🥁☮☘
Their bluesiest album…the debut
My favorite.
As my now deceased best friend use to always say: “we can argue all day long about the 2nd greatest band, and that’s all good. But there ain’t no arguing about the greatest. It’s Led Zeppelin. That’s it. Discussion’s over.” 😂 We spent hours, and hours, and hours, and hours listening to LZ together. For years. Miss you Wyatt C.
The perfect mesh of musicians that let each other shine. Like Yes or Rush, they don't step on their bandmates.
After all these years, I still get chills
They are the rock band. I was blessed to see them live in 1975. It was wonderful, but also kind of sad as I knew I had seen the best concert I was ever going to see. 50+ years and the music still sounds fresh and amazing.
Led Zeppelin did a slow blues jam like this on most of their albums. You should check out the one on LZ-II, The Lemon Song. Jay will flip over the bass playing on that one.
Yeah, agreed. The Lemon Song is a straight up 🔥🔥 track!! As is the alternate version of Quit found on their Coda album too.
Love the grooves from album 2
Yes! Gotta do it.
I love the reaction . When Led Zeppelin released their first 2 albums a lot of their songs were based on blues songs . Most of the groups coming out of Britain at that time had a lot of American blues influence . I can remember being a kid at the time and my Mom rockin' out to Communication Breakdown in her Chevy Nova . Try listening to Led Zeppelin's The Lemon Song off their 2nd album , very bluesy and I think you guys would love it !
Can't go wrong with the Zep! You should listen to their most unique song (IMO) "The Battle Of Evermore". The only time they used a guest vocalist to back up Plant.
I concur 💯
My personal favorite for its uniqueness.
You guys really need to hear the Rain Song by Led Zeppelin 💧
Beautiful song, no doubt.
One of the best debut albums. The whole thing is good bluesy rock. "How Many More Times" off it is awesome.Real good bass line.
Masterpiece is right. Rock on Rob Squad
To see them play these great songs live is a special part of all of us who saw them! First album is and always has been my favorite! All 4 were each the best in their own talents!! Thanks for appreciating great rock blues!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ RIP John Bonham
They played on Monday here at the San Diego Sports Arena. I'm known as the screamer. During, Whole Lotta Love, I was still screaming when the music kicked back in. A few songs later Plant announced they had nothing going on that week so on Thursday we will do another concert. There are a lot of people outside that didn't get in so, pick up a ticket before you leave. On Thursday, there I was screaming but when Plant finished I was still screaming. He said to bring me to him. I was lifting and carried to the stage. When I finally stopped, the band kicked in. Security wanted to get me out of there but Plant told them, he's with us tonight, leave him alone. We played off each other the rest of the night. One of my favorite concerts, glad you found another jewel ❤️
Robert was 20 years old on this. Crazy good. He has said he was only there to watch the great musicians in Zep play and he was only adding a bit here and there for added color. For as much charisma he had he was equally humble. My favorite band since 1976.
Amber, one thing you might have been noticing about his drum part there was especially near the end of the song, he started doing these triplet and even sometimes quadruple hit rhythms on the kick drum. Even by this first album, he was that talented and it just sounded so good.
I've never viewed this as a hidden gem for some reason, I guess we heard those albums so much including this first album, that it was just one of the huge songs on it.
This song is a "hidden gem" only to casual LZ fans. Those who know, know.
Right? I played all their albums in their entirety all the time
"How many more times" are you going to listen to one song off this fabulous album without realizing, you need to let it flow into the next song, everytime??? 😮 Glad you enjoyed. Who would have believed this little channel and it's two great hosts, would have come this far and still learning every day! Thanks guys, keep em coming!!!!
Their entire first album is astonishingly great. Amazing to think this was released in 1968. It's aged well ... Unlike contemporary albums from the same period . (The Monkees, anyone?!?)
haha, i just posted the same sentiment. IYKYK!
Guys, you know how versatile they are with their many different styles. Blues, acoustic, mellow vibe (Ten Years Gone), flat out rock & roll, reggae style, and Caribbean style (Fool in the Rain), and others that are hard to classify (No Quarter, Ramble On, etc). Please listen to "The Rain Song"! Talk about throwing you a curveball! I guarantee you'll be caught of guard and pleasantly surprised. Pretty Please!!!
The complete package. All 4 members were masters of their craft.
The complexity of the drums in the intro section of their live version of this always gets me.
The mighty Led Zeppelin!
This is 1967-68. First album. The blues and chemistry is already there! Genius!
Led zep is the peak of rock evolution.
My FAVORITE Led Zeppelin song is the next one that I'm going to hear!
What Is And What Should Never Be on Led Zeppelin 2 is another one that will blow you away.
Jimmy was just playing with different tones and sometimes throwing in a completely off note just to keep the listener on his toes. Sounds like he was having the most fun with this recording, but at the same time, delivering a smoking, sexy blues number. One of my favorites by them. Just raw talent.
Led Zep's improv/jazzy style is rarely mentioned - always underestimated
It can easily be stated that all four guys in this band are individually the greatest musician at their craft. Absolute brilliance!
A staple of their early live shows. Absolutely incredible tune that is even more amazing live.
Those Brits absolutely loved black American blues. Check out Steve Windwood at 16.
I am 62. Led Zeppelin got me through HS although the band had been around for about 6 years.
What a great band.
I’m 63, same story. Zeppelin got me through high school.
@@gilbroussard2240 What I mean is that Jimmy, John Paul and the boys tutored me to help me in my AP calculus class
Great song blues feel.
Always magnificent!!! Live version is unbelievable!! Please do more Zeppelin!!!
You are so right my dear, their version at Royal Albert Hall 1970 is a personal favorite. That show was one of their best, touring off the first 2 albums when they really put their stamp on how great rock music can sound. That concert is dope.
If it's Led Zeppelin, if it's I Can't Quit You Baby, then it has to be the live version at the Royal Albert Hall. The band was on fire that night. Never bettered.
WOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!! LOVES me some LED ZEPPELIN!! Glad to see ya'll reacting to more of them!! HAPPY Not-Monday-Anymore, You-Guys!!
Fantastic... Next up the ultimate blues song. Since I Been Loving You from Led Zeppelin III
The whole of their first album is a filled with gems.
The days of my youth spent playing this album front to back, beginning to end, are really showing up and making me wanna cry Don't cut it off here! The next song up is "How Many More Times!!"
It truly is a hidden gem. I’m glad you did a reaction to it. It was a good suggestion. I highly recommend Buddy Guy’s What Kind of Woman.
🕊❤️🎼
they did that one 4 or five months ago google it
You don't just listen to this song...you exist in the song and let it take you to a different place...
Have to do Royal Albert Hall performance.
Great reaction to a great performance. Led Zeppelin recorded their first album before they even had a deal with a Record Label. Jimmy and their manager, Peter Grant, paid for it out of their own pockets. It only took them 36 hours to record the album over several sessions. Led Zeppelin had been playing the songs as part of the concert series to make up for the Yardbirds bookings left over when the Yardbirds broke up. Prior to joining the Yardbirds, Jimmy Page was a session guitar player and a record producer, so he brought that experience to the recording of that first record. At the time of the recording, Jimmy was still using the Telecaster guitar that Jeff Beck gave him while they were in the Yardbirds together. The mind blower is the guitar amp that Jimmy used. In most of the live performances you see of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy often has tall stacks of amplification (Marshalls / Orange etc). For the first few albums, Jimmy used a small, 25 Watt, Supro amp with a single 12" speaker. Jimmy knew exactly how to use microphones to capture the tone and volume that he wanted on the record. Jimmy also used that amp for the "Stairway To Heaven" solo. Keep On Rockin' 🤘🎸😎
Robert Plant has fuch an effortless way of singing... EPIC...
His live version is priceless.
Thank you Jay and Amber. Glad you enjoy stretching yourselves 😊
Such early Led Zeppelin too - I remember the first time I heard their first album back in 1969! It was just so different, heavy and bluesy and way ahead of its time.
You both need to listen to led zeppelin song wearing and tearing! Killer song !
So right you are. These guys have been my favorite band since the 70s and still to this day I call em that. Nobody does what they did in such a phenominal way.
Great reaction by my favorite 2 reactors! Like many British bands of that era, they were heavily influenced by American Blues and artists like Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters. Many songs on their first 2 albums were remakes of blues songs and their versions were sometimes referred to as Atomic Blues.
Jimmy’s playing in this is just SO good!
I love so much music and I love many Rock Bands....Pink Floyd, Rush, AC/DC, The Beatles, The Stones, and too many more to name, but the one Rock band that will always be top of my list without a doubt is LED ZEPPELIN!!!!!!! Thanks Jay & Amber for never making us go too long between Led Zeppelin reactions! ❤❤❤
One of my favorite songs
You know you're old when every-time you hear this song your mind goes into how nice it flows into the next song. My head started playing the roll in to "How Many More Times" W/o me asking. lOl
You need to see this live at the Royal Albert Hall, mind blowing!!😊
truly is. masterpiece and then some!
At the time this was recorded:
Jimmy Page - 24
John Paul Jones - 21
John Bonham - 20
Robert Plant - 20
So much talent from these young people.
They are all playing with the gift of old souls, don't you think?
@@lisabenneett4735 That's exactly what I think.
The live version of this from 1970 Royal Albert Hall is their best technical live performance imo. It’s incredible.
Total fire!!
G.O.A.T. without question
The Royal Albert Hall 1970/Jimmy's Birthday Bash is one of the well-preserved concert videos in terms of sound, where LZ play a 6' version of this song, as well as the faster, fantastic blues rock Bring It Home on Me (new for you) and other older brilliant songs. Great, keep up going!!!
Takes my breath away & my heart race
The whole album is awesome every song is a banger
I think 90% of their songs are hidden gems .
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've said it before, Every Led Zeppelin song could be your favorite Led Zeppelin song.
An Otis Rush song (written by Willie Dixon) that Zep put their stamp on. The Blues were popular with British bands. Too many naysayers brand Zep as copycats, but they were just fans. Nothing wrong with that.
This entire album - and the next album (with a couple of covers from Willie Dixon and Howlin' Wolf) - are psychedelic blues rock at its finest - it's not just another genre they can do - these are their roots!! Thanks to you guys so much for covering this older material!
You guys will love What Is and What Should Never Be jazziest and bluesiest
I really appreciate the fact that these two youtubers are introducing younger people to great music which many young people would otherwise never know. Led Zeppelin, a group of young English rockers who loved African American blues music; some would say STOLE the songs and made them their own. But anyway you look at them, they were into ROOTS music, be it Delta blues or Chicago electric blues, and then blended that with English folk influences to create something we will never see happen again in current modern popular music. To fall in love with a great Led Zeppelin blues song will inspire some to go back and learn about Howlin; Wolf, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Memphis Minnie, Lead Belly, Sonny Boy Williamson----all those great Black American musicians who without them there would NEVER have been Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Cream, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, or even the Beatles.
Hidden gem that the band couldn't release as a single placed on their first album. Y'all need to react to the whole album, you would certainly get more subscribers that way. 😊😊😊😊Great reactions!!!😊😊😊
This is one of those Zeppelin songs that really deserves a live version listen...
A true classic that puts all four talents on stage. A great compilation to lay back and listen to.. A true Zeppelin track.
Gotta do some of their live stuff as well! Great reaction!
Off of their first album this was a foreshadowing of what was to come. I love this track, one of my favorites
He’s the best moaner ever!!!!!!!!
I spent my entire youth waiting for the next Zeppelin album to be released
I've been a big Zeppelin fan for about 45 years now and "my favorite album" has changed a few times, but over the last 20 years or so, Led Zeppelin "1" is by far, my favorite album and my love for it grows every time I hear a song from it.
The rain song must be next! 😊
Love Ambers facial expressions!
Zeppelin has one of the best voices of the male rockers. Burton Cummings from the Guess Who & Jim Morrison from The Doors are right up there, loved them all.👍💙💖🌸
So many memories ❤
Check out this song live from the Royal Albert Hall 1970… epic.
Saw Zep play in 1977 in Oakland. As a teenage drummer I was blown away by Mr Bonham & JPJ. Fast forward to a few years ago and I saw a Zep tribute band called Zepparella with Angeline Saris on bass , holy moly she sounded as close to JPJ as I’ve ever heard
Anyway always jug this song. 👍
This was not so hidden to us back then as typically, we played Led Zeppelin's first album, start to finish, most of the time in the 70s, so heard it it on a regular basis but not as much as we got older as it did not show up as much as many of their other songs on the radio so to many, hidden gem applies. They had such great tunes that did not get much air play but the fans knew what they were. For another blues classic, later in their career, do Tea For One, more exquisite guitar tone and signature vocals from the masters. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
There are certain albums that you listen to with headphones on, sitting on the floor, eyes closed. ✌🌈🌻💚
There's no such thing as a 'hidden gem' for Zep, anymore than there is for the Beatles. Pretty much every song is a classic and every word and note analyzed from here to hell and back. If you grew up in the 70's there's probably not any song you could play from Zep that we wouldn't recognize after one bar and usually one note lol
One of my favourites, it has it all, the Blues meets the Led Zeppelin treatment as it were…🍺😎☮️
Led Zeppelin's albums 1 2 and 4 were everywhere everyone had a copy they were the most with the mostest!
One of my favorites songs Zeppelin done is, Thank You.
And to think they were only in their very early twenties and making music like this.
Robert is my favorite vocalist
Tangerine is one of their best.
I think you would love it- beautiful song!
