    15” M3 Air / 24GB / 1TB is my daily driver… for WINDOWS. I’ve used Intel MBPs with Parallels/Windows as my primary work (IT) machine for about 10yr, but I thought the M chips made this the end of that road.
    Boy was I wrong. I had NO IDEA until a couple of months the ago just how far Win11 on ARM has come. It’s pretty unreal. The performance and stability I’m getting out of this combo are stunning to me, and I’m shocked at just how many of the apps I run are ARM64 already and don’t need emulation.
    Yes, I know my M3 Air specs put it within $100 of a baseline Pro, but I just like the design of the 15” Air much better and don’t need HDMI or more TB.
    Anyway, can’t recommend M3 Air running Parallels with Win11 ARM enough, if you’re a Windows person.

    The MacBook Air M series is a work of Art. No question. But the Software lack of extra control is a problem. A windows computer has more benefits. I'm running X-lite and windows 11 is King. I installed the Defender free yes defender is gone and the computer works amazingly. The upgradeability is also a problem for a MacBook. I'm running a Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 AMD (14") OLED with RTX™ 4060, 32gigs RAM. 7.1gigs SSD Read speeds. I paid 1,630.00 Canadian. Cheaper for sure. The only think MAC has is battery. Fan is not really that much of a problem but yes MAC spoiled me. lol. The MAC you bought here in Canada is 2,250.00. I encode in Davinci with AMD selected as the encoder which syncs with the Nvidia GPU. I encode 4k video at an average 200 frames per second. That's Huge. Also I can game. It's all about that Battery and silence. The screen is really nice but OLED fixed the PC market for quality.

    I have a question that has never been answered: Is the MacBook Air powerful enough for graphic design, specifically for static content without video or animation? I've always wondered if this laptop can handle the multitude of Photoshop layers or the complexity of creating a logo design with numerous artboards.

    • @theTechNotice

      In Photoshop the benchmark is ridiculously high, within few percent of a 14900k + 128GB RAM + 4080super, so Impretty confident saying yes, but I haven't tested your workflow yet, but so far I've been very impressed!

    Spring 2011 Sandy Bridge came out: I bought Asus P8P67 Deluxe, i5 2500K + 8 GB (2x4) Corsair OC RAM. Back then there were no DDR3 8 GB bars - otherwise I would have taken 2x8 GB.
    13 (!!!) years later I also get 8 GB of RAM from Apple in the basic configuration of a MacBook Air. According to Apple, this is fine: An Apple employee justified the decision with “the majority of our customers use an Air for social media, Office + TH-cam (watching videos). Of course, 8 GB of RAM is enough for these tasks - but then why an M3 chip? I'm confused.

  • @davidgrisez
    @davidgrisez 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I recently purchased a new 15 inch MacBook Air Laptop Computer. I am of the opinion that 8gb of memory is not enough, a person should purchase this computer with at least 16gb of memory. I purchased this MacBook Air to replace an old 2015 MacBook Pro. I purchased the 15 inch MacBook Air with 512gb of flash storage and with the maximum 24gb of memory. One of the reasons I did this is because with this System on a Chip construction that is used by Apple Silicon computers, the memory is not expandable. A person is permanently stuck with the amount of memory that they order Apple computers with.

    • @nicolasb.henry294

      It depends of your workflow I use a base M2 Air and it is slowly becoming my main machine for almost everything: my admin tasks, my artistic workflow, and other tasks. Most people don't need more than 8gb unless you do heavy tasks everyday. My next machine will be a M4 Air with 16 or 18 GB Ram because my workflow will be heavier but I love the Air line up you can work on quite heavy tasks everywhere you want and for me this is priceless

    I would not consider this laptop design as Windows user, because at 15" it should have had numerical keyboard (yea I know Apple users don't really use it, but it's essential for me, especially with non-english layouts I often work with), and also more connectivity WITHOUT dongles

      I agree on the numpad, I use it all the time...

    • @OffersAlone
      @OffersAlone 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I hate numpads. Having a numpad literally only means that you're not getting the most of what the main keyboard has to offer. Your palms are kinda pushed to the left of the screen as opposed to being positioned in the main frame.

    • @TazzSmk
      @TazzSmk 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@OffersAlone interesting point of view!
      it really depends on layout and software to use - for ex. Wolfram Mathematica uses NumPad Enter as different functiona than regular Enter, and many non-English keyboard layouts utilize top "number" row for different characters, so having dedicated NumPads on side is almost mandatory

  • @5GRobo
    @5GRobo 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You can't really test the RAM in a meaningful way since MacOS is really good at compressing any unused data in the RAM, so it all depends on what kind of multitasking you'll be doing, but in general 16GB should be the minimum and 24-36GB for someone tech savvy like yourself. I'd go for 8GB only if it's a used M1 Air that I could get for cheap.

    The laptop has one major flaw, no fan. That means the chip inside is weak for most games. The M3 Chip is around the speed of an RTX 2050 Laptop GPU at best which isnt good if you're going to be paying up to 3000 USD for this device. Something like an Omen Transcend 14/16 would be better. Those are the closest "Gaming Laptops" to the MacBook Air that I could think of.

    Apart from the Iphone the other best Apple products are Ipad Air and Mcbook Air. As for Mcbook Air I bought it in 2020 M1 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD & 8-core GPU and it still rocks. I prefer 13 inch vs 15 inch anytime. And it's good to always beef it up a little bit with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD if you'd like to use it for couple more years. The external portable SSD is always a plus anyway.

  • @busyjt

    I got a 15 inch 16GB M2 MacBook Air with 512GB SSD. It works amazingly well for engineering work I do. What makes me regret the 16GB model is I'm stuck working on huge powerpoint presentations and unless I keep track of things and close what I don't need swap space is used more often than I would like. Sure, swap usage is normal but with an SSD that can't be replaced I would prefer not to put any more wear on the SSD than necessary.
    Sadly the MacBook Air is limited to 24GB RAM so at some point I might have to move up to a pro, but I really like the passive cooling.
    Overall though, it's an amazing laptop, but gets even more expensive when adding AppleCare to the cost.
    We also have an 8GB M1 MacBook Air with 512GB SSD. It amuses me to see people defend the 8GB model. You really don't need to do much to run out of 8GB RAM on that laptop.
    Bottom line, whether creating content or doing software development I've not found a laptop that I like as much so I put up with the downside of not being able to replace the SSD.

    If you can't recognize a great product when you see it, you might be Microsoft cult member.

    Pointless video, I wanted the battery life numbers but the reviewer just kept saying all day battery life over and over. Why bother making a video recommending a product that the reviewer hasn't started using himself yet.

    I like the M-Series Air's a lot.
    But they are very pricy though.
    The effiency is unmatched as far as I know, but I would refuse to pay more than 1000€ for a Laptop with less than 16gb of RAM and 1TB of storage.
    I know most of the time you may not need the extra horsepower, but for that price Tag this should not even be an argument...
    More RAM is more RAM. 🤌
    Not even Apple can cheat their way around that.
