In fact, there is a story behind the song, which is the reason for writing the song. Hoshi made a mistake in one of the last concerts, and when the members met, they told him that he made a mistake and he replied that he lives today for the first time, and from here woozi got inspiration 😭🥹

I love how Woozi and Seventeen write songs about struggles and embracing your fears, flaws, and shortcomings without telling you that you have to change to overcome your problems and find your happiness. I love how it's always about accepting and being aware of what you are and what you are not, finding your own pace, and navigating your life in your own way. Cheers to Youth and F*ck My Life has a special place in my heart because it's about being aware of where you are in life, looking at what's holding you back, and taking its hand to bring along in your journey to live the life that you want. It was never about forcing yourself to change or to be like someone else, it was never about hiding your pain and fears- it's always about acceptance.

The tiger at the end refers to Hoshi, who was the inspiration for this song. They mentioned that there was a fight and Hoshi at the end as an apology said "I'm sorry this is the first time I live too" which comes from the song that we should celebrate our youth even with the fears and mistakes

It really is amazing that they're still together. The same 13 since debut. And what's more, if you watch their 17 debut project, or even earlier than that, predebut videos, it's crazy to see that they are pretty much exactly the same. They never changed, not too much anyway. They showed us exactly who they are and we love them all the more for it. 🩷🩵💎

Joshua (called Shua) has been called a meerkat, since he's always looking around; and I guess he's wondered if he was lovingly called that or not, only to find he has a SHUAKAT fan club. Woozi HATES going out and has groceries delivered; so I think it's precious that when he finally faced his fear to go shopping for himself, he gave the grandmother (a tip of the hat to his own grandmother who inspired the Vocal team's first song "20") a bouquet of chamomiles, which is the official flower of Carats and also represents calming and healing. The rock is Jeonghan and DK's pet rock named Jjongdol. They take turns caring for him and even post pictures and updates on Weverse about how Jjongdol is doing. :) DK never liked school because he said his butt wanted to move too much. Perhaps DK and Jeonghan setting Jjongdol free is their way of releasing comfort in pet rocks and finding it in each other. (??) As for Seungkwan, he LOVES his phone and has said he wouldn't be able to live without it. (I also can't help but wonder if it's a little tribute to Moonbin who doesn't call him anymore.) As for Jeonghan, he has said he doesn't like getting older as his eyesight is getting bad. So each member faced their own fears, came together, and found love in the Tiny Issue Club, or TIssue Club! I LOVE how Seventeen never fails to give hope and comfort!
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE how Woozi thanked Hoshi for inspiring the song! "It just so happens that it's my first time living today" is what Hoshi said when he made some mistake in one of the concerts; and Woozi took that inspiration to make this masterpiece. Horanghae forever!!

Actually Jeoghan got the pet rock first and named it Jjongdol like you said. Then DK found it interested so he bought the same set and named his pet rock Dodol

I saw a comment that theorized Seungkwan represents elementary school years, Jeonghan represents middle-/high-school years, DK represents college years, Joshua represents young adult life years, and Woozi represents older years. It's certainly possible.
Whatever the case, I cried...a little out of pain, understanding/empathy, happiness, and then when the tribute to Hoshi appeared, I cried even more out of SHEER LOVE for Woozi, his heart, and how they love and cherish each other!

I thought that FINALLY Vocal Team came out with a song that wasn't going to make me bawl my eyes out...but nope!!! This MV did it!!! 😭😭😭
The tiger at the end is a nod to Hoshi 🐯, because he was the one who inspired Woozi to write the song, when he said that line in the beginning, something like "Sorry, but it's my first time living today, too" when he made a mistake during one of his speeches during their Follow concerts.
    ❤️🐾🐯🐾❤️
Also, the behind the scenes/making of vid for #Spell dropped this morning!!! (The one for this MV should be released in a few days-next week). 😘

i think this was less about seventeen's own personal struggles and more about the struggles of youth in general. i think the obvious ones for me are woozi representing social isolation and an addiction to technology, joshua represents the struggle at the workplace with repetitiveness and burnout, and dokyeom with academic related struggles. im still figuring out jeonghan and seungkwans lol

    • @ddeonu2424
      @ddeonu2424 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

I think Seungkwan is about not being able to fit in, like his phone that turned into a fish, he went to the phone store or the fishing place but wasn't accepted in either place. And then on the 2nd part where they said "Let's try not to care" and it showed him and DK being together in comfort shows that he just accepted the fact and that he's still loved by few important people and that's enough. That's how I understood his part.
But I also saw somewhere that it's about him not being able to open up with unfamiliar people, and that the gold fish represents for opportunities for personal growth.
I'm not really sure with Jeonghan too though 😭

13:45 i truly believe they’re good people cos it’s not just the things we see on cam, there are endless stories of actual people out there who have encountered seventeen who said they really felt Seventeen’s sincerity. PD Na and all the staffs they work with, waiters/cashiers in places they’ve been to during a personal schedule, a random stranger at a club Mingyu encountered (Mingyu thought the stranger’s gf was being harassed he stood up for her lol) im sure there are more anecdotes out there as proof. 🥹
and yup as everyone commented, the tiger is a shoutout to Hoshi who was the inspiration to the “it just so happen that we’re living today for the first time” lyric which he said backstage during one of their concerts after upsetting some members with his ment… he talked about it during comeback meeting with fans

The tiger at end is for Hoshi because Woozi got inspiration from him. The story was Hoshi messed up his ending ment at a concert so the members teased him about it on stage. Hoshi said “It my first time living today too” and that’s how Woozi made this song

But for some reason, I started seeing all these strange comments under other reactions making it seem weird... 🙄 Like insinuating that Hoshi had said something hurtful or something, and then they basically all met up and talked to him about it, etc...??? The Vocal Unit and their comforting heartwarming gorgeous songs that reach out so sincerely to us! We can feel who they are even if we don't know what their day to day life is like or what they'd be exactly like - but I think we know a lot. They're so genuine. I mean... consider Nana Tour and what they were doing before they burst in on them hahahhaha They were as expected really. Truly. Of course they still have private parts of themselves and their lives, but they are really so special and I adore them.

I have a kinda long analysis about the MV but I'll try to reduce it for this comment:
Woozi - Social Anxiety. He thinks he doesn't fit in society (there's a frame of him with a puzzle piece) and only have his food delivered, a shut in maybe. After joining the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he tried going out by controlling his robot, like testing the waters, before eventually going outside by himself to thank the lovely old lady and hangout with the rest of the vocal unit.
Joshua - He takes care of his department as an Assistant Manager and thinks that all his effort to do so remains unnoticed by them. Meerkats are known to be protective of their gang that's why it's his representation for this MV. After joing the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he received a note thanking him for lending them his umbrella and realizing his effort to help his department are seen and they love him for always looking after them.
Seungkwan - He's afraid of being perceived and constantly ignores calls and messages. Related to it is the goldfish bowl idiom where one felt their actions are always being watched. He tried releasing his phone fish back on the ocean and returning it to the phone shop which was both denied meaning he has to solve it himself. Eventually after joining the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he started to be open about it towards the members and when it was shown that he's popping the answer button on the bubble wrap, it meant he's finally stopped caring how he's perceived and the popping of the bubble wrap might also mean he doesn't need unnecessary protection for himself anymore and just let life be.
DK - Uncertainty of the future. On his paper, he answered rock (돌) for his future aspirations which could probably mean he's not looking forward to the future or he's anxious about moving forward. During his time on the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he learned how to let himself be free by throwing Dolkyeomie (the rock) and he also looked on a frame with another rock which could be someone he's looking up to and finally found an inspiration to keep going.
Jeonghan - Avoiding the future. His eyeglasses are both blurred so he can't read the 'FOREVER IS A LIE' on the Snellar chart during his vision acuity test meaning he doesn't want to accept the fact that everything is finite. By the end, after joining the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, we saw him remove his glasses and see the members as themselves and even returned the glasses to the ophthalmologist and has decided to see things as they are.
Hoshi - Other than being Woozi's inspiration to write Cheers to Youth, his Tiny Issue might be thinking he's an actual tiger.
Hope this analysis helps, CARATs! I spent 2 hours writing my theories and analysis right when the MV was released lmao I hope no one steals this and claim it as theirs tho (thread is @/gsvtboo on twt). Ofc these might not be accurate but it's the best I can do :>

For me, it was emotional because when you deal with anxiety, depression, stress and feelings is really hard to feel grateful and thankfull. As Jeonghan in the video we can't see the good things in life ... Woozi is an amazing writer and human being because, he is always reminding us that there is still good things in the whole caos.. like Joshua reciving food, Seungkwan having Jeonghan as a friend, etc. And, the lyrics hit harder if you are feeling exactly like that ... the phrase 'I want to be alone but I don't want to be lonely' or 'I hope that the sound of the alarm will feel less annoying than yesterday?? I JUST ❤ I love Woozi well I love SVT

Jeonghan - something wrong with what he sees, but he doesn’t like what he sees after consulting an optometrist. He saw “Forever is a lie”, and became visibly upset. He let go of his glasses (aka changing his view to fit other’s concept of right).
Joshua was a meerkat. He often peeks and looks around. Meerkats are known to be social animals that need a sense of belongingness. He realizes that he was well-appreciated in his workplace, and was even called adorable due to his meerkat-like actions.
Woozi was a recluse who used his tech to do what he cannot do, e.g. going outside and shopping for groceries. This may symbolize social isolation which has become an alarming issue in South Korea. He gains courage to go outside, and even gives flowers to the grandma who helped his robot do his groceries.
DK was a student, who probably struggles with his academics. He wrote just dreaming to be a rock, just to be free from his situation. He realized that even rocks do something really well, hence the caption, 1st place in spacing out. He got inspired by it and threw the rock away.
Seungkwan was anxious , and it’s manifested through phone calls or alarms. He ignores them and just turns the phone off. His phone became a phone-fish the next morning which made him pay attention to it more. He even practiced pressing the receive call button using the bubble wrap.
All of these changes happened when they coincidentally met through the T(iny)ISSUE club where they talked about their issues.

i'm pretty sure seungkwan was related to anxiety/depression, specifically with reference to the lyric "I get scared when my phone rings", for example. The scene with the korean words on the phone near the start of the video says no caller ID, which could be to do with the tons of calls they get from sasaeng fans with unknown caller ID. The bubble wrap also had a phone signal on it when seungkwan was popping them, which seemed like he was practicing picking up calls to overcome the anxiety that comes with it?

    woozi-anxiety(afraid of going outside)

"and DK is a potato." LOL then silence between both of you got me😭😂
And here's my simple analysis for the story :
I think it's about different kind of people facing their own struggles?
    - Woozi is an introvert person who doesn't like going outside, suffer social anxiety perhaps? so he use the robot to buy groceries.
    - Jeonghan, people who is facing health problem? He has problem with his eyes and always struggles to see the 'truth' so he thought his life is "forever a lie".
    - Joshua is an adult who work busily, but at the same time he felt like he was a 'meerkat' at work, doesn't know what to do, always look up to his co-workers.
    - DK represent students who always struggles with their studies and sometimes all they wanted to do is to be a 'rock', to be alone, doing nothing.
    - Seungkwan as a teenager/kid, a loner maybe? (I'm still thinking a good theory for seungkwan😅)

This video/song is very closely related to FML. It really speaks to different struggles carats can go through (loneliness, depression, students, overworked, and lack of vision). At the same time, it is somewhat connected to these members personally...
    My understanding of the video:
DK the student - I know DK struggled in school.
Woozi the hermit - He spends all his time in his studio
Seungkwan depression - He really struggled this last year
Joshua the meerkat - He's said in the past that he sometimes questions why he's a singer
Joenghan with vision issues - He's another who's found it in the past to see his future.
Some other info. Jeonghan has a pet rock. Earlier this year, carats joked that they hadn't seen him for a long time and he must have thrown him the river 😂😂😂
He would joke that he sent him to school, and he reintroduce him for the Maestro comeback.
Hoshi the tiger - well, that's self explanatory. However, also that opening line was something Hoshi told the members when he had made a mistake and they were upset with him.

Seungkwan's plot might be darker than the phone turned into fish.
"May there be the day where I hate my loud alarm less." This was written in Seungkwan's polaroid at the end of the video. It's like I'm so tired to start a new day. Can we pause it for a while or can we stop it...

This is a bit long but thank you for reading cause they really put a lot of elements in the MV that are so relatable, Seventeen- or ordinary-persons-wise 😅
SEUNGKWAN is someone who seems to be always on the edge, either cause of constant calls or his alarms. I feel like he's got a lot of deadlines to beat that when his phone fell into the fishtank and turned into a fish, he wanted to get it fixed cause he knows he needed it for his daily life but neither a fisherman nor the Oppo staff accept to fix it 😅 he then just made it into a pet fish, even showing it to DK (who had a pet rock 😆) and at the end his polaroid said 'I hope the day would come my noisy alarm is less annoying'. His one way of reducing stress? Popping bubble wrap, which is probably so relatable with a lot of people, including me 😅
WOOZI, who in real life we know is an introvert and doesn't really like going out, has a robot who even does the errands for him, like doing the grocery. But being alone only with his robot friend, he eventually felt like there's a missing piece of him as he was doing the puzzle. He tried to overcome his situation and visited the supermarket himself and gave flowers to the grandma staff, probably a way of thanking her. Somehow it feels to me that it's a way of saying we might rely on AI/robots but having to feel that connection with another person still gives a different, warmer feeling. In his polaroid shot, it said 'My friend who brought me out into the world' talking about his robot friend. AI/technology can be a friend but let's not forget about human relationships too.
DOKYEOM is a student who seems to be struggling and coping with stress in his studies and his college life in general. While this is relatable everywhere else, I feel like it's especially true in South Korea where they put value in studying and grades so much that a lot would say, 'Grades isn't everything' . His way of coping is to have a pet rock (who even won a trophy 😆). On his exam paper, he even wrote Dol (rock) instead of the answer 😅 In one scene at the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he himself was the rock which what he also probably feel at times, that he is a Dol Meori (rock head) or someone whose head doesn't absorb anything/someone who isn't bright. Incidentally, I came across a video which claims that young people on SoKor now take rocks as pets to cope with stress since rocks are easier to take care of. I'm not sure tho how true this is but the video did include a clip of Jeonghan and his own pet rock, Doljjong, so some say JH was the one who started this trend 😆 Towards the end, we see DK throwing his pet rock away with Jeonghan, probably to symbolize him breaking out of his mindset that he'd never do good with his studies. In his polaroid shot, it said 'With Dolkyeong, who won first place in the idling contest'. 😆
JOSHUA is an office worker who is like a meerkat, cause he seems to be looking at everyone, monitoring them. Turns out, in the note with the umbrella, it said Joshua Daeri-nim (Assistant Manager Joshua) meaning he must be at least a position higher than most of those around him. The reason why he's looking around is either cause he's a supervisor to them or he's anxious of what others might think about him, if he's doing a good job. He seems to be stressed about it that he even dreams about it, falling asleep in his car. Unknowingly, his colleagues actually support him, even having a Shua-kat Club 😆 the note on the umbrella said 'Asst. Manager Joshua, i'm lending you my umbrella' since at the MV's beginning, he's shown to be rained on. He also found a flyer with his photo that said 'We love how you look at us. Keep looking around like a meerkat and we will support you whatsoever, Shua-kat!'. Seems he himself didn't know that he's actually doing great in his job being an assistant manager. In his polaroid shot, it said 'With the Shua-kat Club' 😆
And with JEONGHAN, it seems he's suffering from a physical disability that he feels an inferiority complex about it. But during their T(iny)ISSUES meeting, when he took off his glasses, he actually saw everyone in a different light. I feel like he tends to downplay his capabilities and feel he's not good enough when in fact, he didn't really need the glasses. The board he was reading while wearing the lenses to check his eyesight said FOREVER IS A LIE. In the end, he also threw his glasses away (in another fishtank) and in his polaroid shot, it said 'Look straight at it, without glasses'. I think in a way, it also gives the message that we shouldn't overcomplicate things at times. See them as they are.
And ofc, Hoshi's cameo. If you're a Carat, you know even without context that when you see a 🐯 it's no one else but Hoshi 🤣 it just... clicks! 🤣 and it's all because of his quoted line 'Sorry, I'm also living today for the first time' that Woozi got an idea for Cheers To Youth 🥰
I feel like CHEERS TO YOUTH is like a younger sibling of FML... their messages both meant to heal and inspire everyone! ❤️🥰

Woozi is one of the tidy ones, but, until recently, he hardly left his house. DK does in fact own a pet rock [or did]. I do not know what the goldfish is about, but SK's tears might refer to his dealing with grief from losing his best friend Moonbin [of ASTRO fame]. I think Jeonghan might have had some eye issues, but I’m not sure. Meerkat?, im out of the loop on this one. Hoshi's appearance at the end apparently refers to him being the inspiration fr the song. Beyond that, you need Carats with deeper knowledge than me to interpret this one.

  • @eoreunai17

This are my take about the members scenario:
    - Jeonghan is scared of what he's seeing (the future), that he doesnt want to acknowledge seeing that "forever is a lie" - he tried to find a prescription glasses but nothing works to improved what he sees, instead when he joined the T(iny) Issue club then he got more clear things to see. Feels like the future looks better around the members, that he just enjoy it and let go of the glasses 🤍
    - Joshua feels like a meerkat in his office, in a way he always look around but no one seems to care about him. He was drenched in one scene, and at the other scene, he got an umbrella and snack with notes saying "thank you for the umbrella". So I think, he lent his umbrella to someone when he was drenched, and didnt expect to get such appreciation back. Hence, small things makes him happy and feel recognized (even furthermore, turns out there are Shuakat fanclub 🤭 that loves him)
    - Woozi has social anxiety, he doesnt go out from his room at all (seen at the very first scene, that there's so many delivery trash surrounded him). The way he looks sad with a last piece of puzzle that arent fit in, feels like, that last puzzle was him that doesn't fit with the society. He gets tired of the delivery food tho (when he put down the chicken), so he tried to reach out the outside world thru the screen robot to buy fresh groceries. And it works! with the help of the old woman. So, he feel relieved and less anxious, that he took a brave step to the outside world to thank the old woman personally ☺️
    - DK probably was a student trying to get a job (?) maybe he went thru such test so many times. Until that question about what his dream, he write the answer as "Rock". Idk how the rock exactly represents, but it's like a dream of getting first place. He throws the rock to free it from such burden. Is that make sense? 😂 but that's how I feel (funny funfact both jeonghan and dokyeom actually have a pet rock, so it was cute appearance here)
    - Seungkwan was having busy days, that he gets startled easily with the phone rings/alarms. He ignored it and go to sleep when the phone then turns into a fish. I saw someone said that this fish can also symbolize opportunity (?). He tried to sell it but no ones want to buy it, as this opportunity was only his. So, he then accept and took care of the phone-fish, even trying to practice accepting phone calls by bursting the bubble wrap with that green phone icon. He just gradually hope that the alarms/phone ring sounds does not feel as bad as yesterday 🥰
It was such a relatable song by the lyrics and by every member scenario on the MV, so it's makes me really emotional, until the horanghae comes out 🐯❤ (it's a cute credit as hoshi line inspired woozi to write the song)
If you read my long comment until here, hope this day not so bad for you either 🤍

I have a feeling that the rock is a call to what Suga (BTS) has said before? I want to be a rock in my next life cause a rock doesn't have to do anything but lie still. Also DK and Jeonghan apparantly share ownership of Jeonghan's rock and there was an article out recently of people in Korea having pet rocks to get past their anxiety.

@@Abzify1 well I guess it's still have open interpretation, so it can be. But the rock in the MV are winning a trophy, so i just thought it was some kind of a dream/expectation. And also, DK actually have his own rock called dodol (dolkyeomie in this MV) besides jeonghan's doljjongie 🤭

@@Abzify1 it just came out on weverse once after he adopt it, not long after jeonghan got one. It didnt get princess treatment the way doljjongie did tho 🤣 so I guess it's missing people's attention
