  • Today I discuss 10 Things You Don't Do in Thailand.
First thing you realize when you start traveling is cultures are different. What's normal in your culture may be offensive in another culture.
I shot this video a few years ago with help my Thai friends Miao and Ton! This lives of 10 things you don'd do in Thailand is not exhaustive. There are tons of cultural differences but these are the 10 things you don't do in Thailand that are useful and some are very interesting.
If you are moving to Thailand or just in for some Thailand travel, you should learn the dos and don'ts in Thailand. The things not to do for me are the most important because you want to be respectful of Thai culture.
Let me know what you think of these 10 things you don't do in Thailand! Do you have any things you don't do in Thailand to add? Do you disagree with any of these 10 things you don't do in Thailand?

Thanks for the info! Me and my fiancé just spent 2 weeks in Bangkok and we meet an amazing Taxi cab driver that became our friend. All Thai people are very nice but he was exceptionally nice! He was very honest and sincere and only wanted to help us. Always told us exactly how much a ride was going to be and offered to reimburse us when we told him of another taxi driver that overcharged us. His name is Sak and if anyone is planning a trip to Bangkok I can offer his contact number.

I have been to Thailand before my stroke so I'm familiar with their culture, but I'm not sure if this kind of thing would be well received or if I will need to get into a conversation about disability & shoes every time I find myself in that situation.

Hmmm... Not sure the never eat with your fork thing is widespread. Indeed never criticise the king, but having said that, things are changing. I was in HomePro yesterday and walked past a group of 4 staff members gossiping critically about #10, in full hearing of anyone walking past. And I think it's a bit unfair to advise people to never take a taxi. Sure there are scammers, but if you have an ounce of common sense you will not be rorted. Oh...and the shaking hands thing... it's not because Thai reject physical contact, it's because it's not their norm. Thai that have watched a few movies do indeed shake hands if they want to make the foreigner welcome.
