Well sorta, a former president's power is pretty limited. It's more like "the three most hated pieces of shit in the world." I say this to give do credit where it has been earned. This content creator has actually managed to make me like three people who I consider worthy of the most brutal of deaths. Donald didn't think the Geth thing through very well, and clearly didn't ever broker peace between them and the Quarians. If he had, he'd know that the Geth could interface with the Quarian suits and help them develop immunities. This, in turn, means that unlike in ME2, when you 'romance' Tali, you can actually get her and all that hotness out of that suit to explore a deeper kind of intimacy.
I agree, D is unfair but I'd say A tier because his character growth isn't as big as say Wrex who's in S tier, and unlike many of those in S tier, he only has one game that he appears in, limiting the dialogue we get with him.
nah. jacob fighting for the good guys just makes him more bland. but kai leng does indeed fall below him for other reasons. kai that being said, I feel like kai leng could have been a good character. only a couple tweaks would have done it. first tweak: put him on mars with eva. have him knock out the virmire survivor and get away with some of the data while the robot gets trashed and captured. no story beats change but it shows him to be an actual threat instead of a mall ninja. Also, since mars would require a helmet, he could still have a face reveal and character reveal on the citadel later. tweak 2: have the fight on thessia be actually unwinnable. not having shep lose due to cutscene incompetence. they wanted to give him a silly monologue, fine, but have the fight timed, so shep needs to just stay alive until the end of the speech. this would have built his credibility as a threat further, whilst simultaneously not having players feel cheated at losing a fight they felt like they won. as for thane stopping him on the citadel... still could have that. just have thane die right then and there, and that allows the salarian to live just long enough until shep and co show up to chase kai leng off. none of which changes the major story beats, but drastically improve kai leng as a character while making the final fight with him much more meaningful.

Especially after the very valid point Obama made about Liara having a total character shift and needing a dlc to shift her character again for the 3rd game to make sense. (As someone who didn’t play Lair of the Shadow Broker when 3 came out, playing without that dlc didn’t do her character any favors) at least all 3 of them should be on the same tier.

Feel like Garrus is B - A tier if you play as male shep, but S tier if you play as femshep and romance him. Tali is B - A tier if you play femshep, but S tier if you play male shep and romance her. Besides these two literally join Shep throughout the entire series, even in ME:2, on the suicide mission, simply because they trust him as a leader and wished to be beside him on this quest.
While her voice acting is indeed outstanding, the character herself is exactly what AI Trump said: a politician who has no own opinion and one who can not choose a side. Makes her completely weightless. It is understandable in ME2 since she is related to Tali making her automatically biased and thus should not interfere with the other admirals' decision regarding TalI's exile, but she should have had a much bigger role in ME3. Han'Gerrel, Zaal'Koris and Tali all voice their opinions on the geth matter heavily, while Shala'Raan does absolutely nothing.
Ashley in C next to Alenko, that one hurts. For me she is A-tier: good voice acting and a solid (interesting) character even though she was not sympathetic in half of ME3.
Doubt you will see this but I just finished the legendary edition last night and it was fantastic. I never played the first 2 games. I played the third game 2 or 3 times and that was when the game first came out. 3 is probably still my favorite but wow playing all 3 with the decisions..... absolutely fantastic
I've been replaying the series recently, and Tali's quests in ME2 makes me wonder if the cut dark energy storyline will play a role in ME4. I can't really think of anything else that would make sense with current lore, other than some sort of galactic civil war.
GUYS YOU FORGOT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SIDE CHARACTERS IN THE TRILOGY Upon landing on the Citadel in ME2 there is a character simply named Gunnery Chief who gives a speech about how Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space this character belongs at least in A tier if not S-Tier
Does anybody else enjoy watching these tier list videos and trying to figure out what PR's "true" thoughts are? I can't tell if his true opinions are just everything Barack says while the other two are stand-ins for other common ME opinions or if the three are more representative of different aspects of PR's thoughts (Barack, Joe, and Donald being his Ego, Superego, and Id respectively). Either way, it's a neat thing to consider while watching.
When I first saw one of these I thought it was a bit of a gag but the videos actually represent a very considerate, well-rounded synthesis of opinions. At the very least he's a true fan.
Another thing that makes Mordin imo the number one best character in ME is that even in ME3 he still defends the genophage modification project, saying that now the parameters and situation has changed so while undoing it is right but that doesn't mean he was wrong in the past. UNLESS You are full renegade and really really press him to let the Krogan die. Then he raises his voice and loses his cool for the only time in the entire trilogy and admits "I MADE A MISTAKE!"
You meet her in ME2, but you don’t learn that it is her until ME3. She will be at the bar closest to Liara in ME3, and can discovered than. You can then encourage Liara to talk to her father, though she already knew because of being the almighty shadow broker. :)
Not sure how well known this is but both Mordin and Grunt are aware that Morinth replaced Samara. On Tuchanka Morinth has some dialogue where she breaks character and Grunt and Mordin react to it
In my honest opinion I think it would be better if you did these like how you did them reviewing the missions I really loved that one because of the presidents describing the missions, with also videos on the side showing said missions, so it would be cool to have them talk more about the characters objectively and stuff and then debate, with changes in music and video on the side I'm still at Thane rn tho so things could change
8:52 I agree with Berry here. If Shepard had a “Canon Love interest” it’s Liara. The majority of your interactions with her lead into romantic implications even if you are not actively pursuing her. What could have saved it might have been a unrequited love angle for Liara. Make it clear that she is crushing on you hard and if you are romancing another person she could have a complete breakdown believing she could never have Shepard even thou she loves him/her. But that not what BioWare did many of her interactions are unchanged regardless of romance. Which is interesting because if you did not romance either Garrus or Tahli (and they survive to ME3) they hook up. If I recall Kadin does express an interest in Liara back in ME1 but nothing came of it. I’m saying they had other options to deal with Liara, but what they did was push her on you and if you didn’t take it you just feel bad for the girl and there is never a scene to confront Liara about it.
Tali is a better LI than Liara by a long mile. I think the intentional canon LI from Bioware is Liara and always has been since they try to force it, but the canon LI amongst fans is Tali.
@@SEXUAL-ABUSER I agree Tahli was my first LI and it was a Renegade run. In ME3 I was unsuccessful in getting the peaceful ending for the Geth and Quarians. As a result my Shepard effectively was forced to commit genocide. My Shepard felt like a very dark person always forced to make horrible decisions with just a Glimmer of light that was Tahli. I say I was looking forward to building that house by the beach.
Ashley was *right* ! When the Reapers attacked Earth, every council race was perfectly happy to let us, their 'dogs', take the brunt of the initial invasion.
The fact these boys put Liara in S but only had Garrus and Tali in A kind of hurts my soul, I know she had a strong ME1 presence and an amazing DLC in ME2 but outside that she felt kind of lackluster at times in presence, meanwhile Garrus and Tali exploded in both development and presence in ME2 and ME3 becoming two of the most beloved romances across the series, I do feel they outpaced her at the end but I would of been alright if they ranked them at least together but i feel like those two got snubbed a bit for a character that got shoved down our throats for the whole first game. :(

Watching this again I do find the conversation about Javik interesting. Shortly before this there was criticism about Kasumi and Zaeed not having any plot relevance due to being DLC. Feel like DLC squadmates have an iffy place in these games
Garrus is shaped by your choices and conversations with him so he may follow your lead but he's funny got charisma and he struggles between good and evil as well as honor and mercy
10:19 Miranda and Jacob were both just sexed-up versions of Ashley and Kaiden. Miranda's whole story arc is just daddy issues (jacob's too, but his don't carry on into the third game, so who cares). Miranda could have been more interesting if they leaned more into her being a femme fatalle with inscrutable loyalties and motives, but the only real twist with her is her father was an even bigger bastard than she implied. 11:27 Mordin was great, but I get the feeling some writer wanted him to be the inventor of the genophage until someone reminded them Salarians only live forty years, and he couldn't have been the direct descendent of that guy, because that's not how the Salarians reproduce, so the writers settled on him being the guy who updated the genophage. I think there was a whole lot of wasted potential with his STG background. What other shady stuff was he involved in? That could have been interesting to explore. 12:15 I always find it odd that Ashley gets all the hate over "racism" and Grunt gets a pass over bits like: "I get it. I hate Turians;" and that part where he gleefully recites the implanted memory of a Turian getting tortured to death. At worst, Ashley is skeptical of suborning human interests to the whims of The Citadel and letting random aliens wander around a state-of-the art military ship at will. Grunt openly hates other species - for understandable reasons.
For the third comment, I think most folk implicitly understand that grunts “I hate turians” moment is less about his actually hating them and more about him rationalizing his implanted experiences & trauma, making it distinctly his, he even says he doesn’t hate garrus so it’s clearly not something he takes too seriously. Plus, grunts like a few weeks old at best when he says this so he gets some slack for being a test tube baby
Gotta disagree about Liara here. Liara does NOT have your back in ME2. She refuses to help you so she can pursue her agenda against the Shadow Broker. Garrus is the only squadmate in the entire trilogy that will drop what he is doing to help Shep. Even Tali blows you off the first time you meet her in ME2.

(As someone who didn’t play Lair of the Shadow Broker when 3 came out, playing without that dlc didn’t do her character any favors) at least all 3 of them should be on the same tier.

Feel like Garrus is B - A tier if you play as male shep, but S tier if you play as femshep and romance him. Tali is B - A tier if you play femshep, but S tier if you play male shep and romance her. Besides these two literally join Shep throughout the entire series, even in ME:2, on the suicide mission, simply because they trust him as a leader and wished to be beside him on this quest.
I love how all their opinions stayed consistent throughout the playthrough you've been doing.

Shala'Raan, worse than Jacob? You're tripping. Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice alone justifies C tier, minimum.
While her voice acting is indeed outstanding, the character herself is exactly what AI Trump said: a politician who has no own opinion and one who can not choose a side. Makes her completely weightless. It is understandable in ME2 since she is related to Tali making her automatically biased and thus should not interfere with the other admirals' decision regarding TalI's exile, but she should have had a much bigger role in ME3. Han'Gerrel, Zaal'Koris and Tali all voice their opinions on the geth matter heavily, while Shala'Raan does absolutely nothing.

I played the third game 2 or 3 times and that was when the game first came out. 3 is probably still my favorite but wow playing all 3 with the decisions..... absolutely fantastic

I've been replaying the series recently, and Tali's quests in ME2 makes me wonder if the cut dark energy storyline will play a role in ME4. I can't really think of anything else that would make sense with current lore, other than some sort of galactic civil war.

GUYS YOU FORGOT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SIDE CHARACTERS IN THE TRILOGY Upon landing on the Citadel in ME2 there is a character simply named Gunnery Chief who gives a speech about how Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space this character belongs at least in A tier if not S-Tier
Does anybody else enjoy watching these tier list videos and trying to figure out what PR's "true" thoughts are? I can't tell if his true opinions are just everything Barack says while the other two are stand-ins for other common ME opinions or if the three are more representative of different aspects of PR's thoughts (Barack, Joe, and Donald being his Ego, Superego, and Id respectively). Either way, it's a neat thing to consider while watching.
When I first saw one of these I thought it was a bit of a gag but the videos actually represent a very considerate, well-rounded synthesis of opinions. At the very least he's a true fan.
Another thing that makes Mordin imo the number one best character in ME is that even in ME3 he still defends the genophage modification project, saying that now the parameters and situation has changed so while undoing it is right but that doesn't mean he was wrong in the past.
UNLESS
You are full renegade and really really press him to let the Krogan die. Then he raises his voice and loses his cool for the only time in the entire trilogy and admits "I MADE A MISTAKE!"

You meet her in ME2, but you don’t learn that it is her until ME3. She will be at the bar closest to Liara in ME3, and can discovered than. You can then encourage Liara to talk to her father, though she already knew because of being the almighty shadow broker. :)

I really loved that one because of the presidents describing the missions, with also videos on the side showing said missions, so it would be cool to have them talk more about the characters objectively and stuff and then debate, with changes in music and video on the side

If Shepard had a “Canon Love interest” it’s Liara.
The majority of your interactions with her lead into romantic implications even if you are not actively pursuing her.
What could have saved it might have been a unrequited love angle for Liara. Make it clear that she is crushing on you hard and if you are romancing another person she could have a complete breakdown believing she could never have Shepard even thou she loves him/her.
But that not what BioWare did many of her interactions are unchanged regardless of romance.
Which is interesting because if you did not romance either Garrus or Tahli (and they survive to ME3) they hook up.
If I recall Kadin does express an interest in Liara back in ME1 but nothing came of it.
I’m saying they had other options to deal with Liara, but what they did was push her on you and if you didn’t take it you just feel bad for the girl and there is never a scene to confront Liara about it.
Tali is a better LI than Liara by a long mile. I think the intentional canon LI from Bioware is Liara and always has been since they try to force it, but the canon LI amongst fans is Tali.

In ME3 I was unsuccessful in getting the peaceful ending for the Geth and Quarians.
As a result my Shepard effectively was forced to commit genocide.
My Shepard felt like a very dark person always forced to make horrible decisions with just a Glimmer of light that was Tahli.
I say I was looking forward to building that house by the beach.
Liara isn't anything close to a canon love interest because the very existence of that is nonsensical, point over.

The fact these boys put Liara in S but only had Garrus and Tali in A kind of hurts my soul, I know she had a strong ME1 presence and an amazing DLC in ME2 but outside that she felt kind of lackluster at times in presence, meanwhile Garrus and Tali exploded in both development and presence in ME2 and ME3 becoming two of the most beloved romances across the series, I do feel they outpaced her at the end but I would of been alright if they ranked them at least together but i feel like those two got snubbed a bit for a character that got shoved down our throats for the whole first game. :(

Watching this again I do find the conversation about Javik interesting. Shortly before this there was criticism about Kasumi and Zaeed not having any plot relevance due to being DLC. Feel like DLC squadmates have an iffy place in these games
Garrus is shaped by your choices and conversations with him so he may follow your lead but he's funny got charisma and he struggles between good and evil as well as honor and mercy

10:19 Miranda and Jacob were both just sexed-up versions of Ashley and Kaiden. Miranda's whole story arc is just daddy issues (jacob's too, but his don't carry on into the third game, so who cares). Miranda could have been more interesting if they leaned more into her being a femme fatalle with inscrutable loyalties and motives, but the only real twist with her is her father was an even bigger bastard than she implied.
11:27 Mordin was great, but I get the feeling some writer wanted him to be the inventor of the genophage until someone reminded them Salarians only live forty years, and he couldn't have been the direct descendent of that guy, because that's not how the Salarians reproduce, so the writers settled on him being the guy who updated the genophage. I think there was a whole lot of wasted potential with his STG background. What other shady stuff was he involved in? That could have been interesting to explore.
12:15 I always find it odd that Ashley gets all the hate over "racism" and Grunt gets a pass over bits like: "I get it. I hate Turians;" and that part where he gleefully recites the implanted memory of a Turian getting tortured to death. At worst, Ashley is skeptical of suborning human interests to the whims of The Citadel and letting random aliens wander around a state-of-the art military ship at will. Grunt openly hates other species - for understandable reasons.
Ashley hates for no reason, Grunt was made the way he is. Ashley fuckin sucks all around.
For the third comment, I think most folk implicitly understand that grunts “I hate turians” moment is less about his actually hating them and more about him rationalizing his implanted experiences & trauma, making it distinctly his, he even says he doesn’t hate garrus so it’s clearly not something he takes too seriously. Plus, grunts like a few weeks old at best when he says this so he gets some slack for being a test tube baby
Gotta disagree about Liara here. Liara does NOT have your back in ME2. She refuses to help you so she can pursue her agenda against the Shadow Broker. Garrus is the only squadmate in the entire trilogy that will drop what he is doing to help Shep. Even Tali blows you off the first time you meet her in ME2.
