You left out another important reason to attack. If your sprint sucks because you're a lighter rider, you need to attack to wear out the sprinters (preferably on climbs). Then you have a chance of either winning the sprint or going solo near the end to avoid the sprint.
Yeah good shout mate, I initially classed that as a long term version of trying to drop someone or get away but you’re right it’s valid to attack with aim of wearing them down without dropping. Nice one for shouting it out 👊👍
You're an absolute menace in C racers with that sprint. It is a little funny how Zwift racing is largely about sprinting (that is 20-30km mostly flat courses are by far the most popular race type), but most cyclists, even most indoor cyclists don't really care for developing or bother working on their sprint. You've definitely inspired me to try to work on mine a bit. Is there a Zwift workout or route you recommend for working on 5-20 second power?
Thanks Andrew mate. I totally agree! 90% of Zwift races come down to a sprint on the front, and even further back you’re usually in a little bunch sprint at the end with your group anyway. Excellent - definitely recommend improving your sprint, everyone can improve even if most of us will never be Cavendish and it will come in useful. In terms of Zwift workouts - no actually, but I would recommend doing an hour Z2 riding and do a max 5-15 second sprint every 15 mins so you get 4 in. That will be a good way to improve sprints as you’ll be fresh and it also stops Z2 being so boring. Add in to that I do 1 or 2 kettlebell strength sessions at home for 10-15 mins with some planks, press ups, etc - you would be absolutely amazed how much difference that will make after around a month or so Finally and most importantly - if you haven’t already watch my ‘100w free’ sprint video and it will give you some quick wins for free without the training! Thanks again for the support and comment - let us know how you get on with your sprint 👊💪👍
That was really nicely explained, great win. I am taking notes for when I am fit enough to contest the finish 😉 I would be interested to know how you became good at sprinting, is it part natural ability and part weight training?
Thanks Fraser mate! Appreciate the support. Yes I think it’s partly genetic and partly training - if you played sport at school you probably have a good idea already if you have sprinters ‘fast twitch’ - for example I did 100m running at school and in football/rugby was always a winger due to my sprint burst pace. However I will never win a long distance event or marathon - so that will give you a good idea and then also no matter how good or bad you are naturally you can always improve with some targeted exercises - I recommend doing an hour Z2 and throwing in a sprint every 15 mins. That is really good training - I also do 1 or 2 home kettlebell and core workouts a week for 15 mins and that makes an absolutely huge difference to your sprint and overall power. Also if you haven’t already, watch my ‘100w free’ sprint tip video for some free and easy technique tips to give your sprint some easy gains!! Thanks as always for the support mate 👊💪👍
Top commentary as usual mate! Enjoyed watching that!
Also… that finish 😂
Thanks mate 👊 I think you could’ve gotten off, had a lie down and a nap and still got back on and won 😂👍

Yeah or if your heavy drop the light people before the climb.
Good race Jake. It was perfect other than last 10 metres 😂

Shame I've just been promoted, I would have loved to have raced you, I think it would be a good race.

@@chrisoliver6690 definitely Chris mate. Hopefully I will be back in B in next couple of weeks so will catch you for a good one there!!
Always

I think it would have been better to let them pass on the line and then tell them you let them win and see the reaction 😂
I’ve been dying to do a race where only 2 of us enter and I want to work for them and give them the win 😂👍
