I think it's his own way of being passionate and enjoying a few different types of food that he happen's to find tasty. some of the different types of food has not gotten the same reaction. lol
I reckon if they had a PCC in New Zealand the food would be more traditional and accurate. Seriouly, kaleve sosisi and alaisa for Samoa? When thinking of Samoan cuisine I would never in a million years think of bloody sausages and gravy wtf?!
I'm glad you enjoyed my island's Polynesian Cultural Center, I'm a retired Grayline Bus Driver and I drove the Circle Island Tour stopping at the Cultural Center. Glad you loved the food and shared it with the world. Aloha from Oahu!
Sausage and gravy... for Samoa? Are you serious? I know it's honouring British influence but I thought this was about Samoa? Where's the lu'au, fai'ai fe'e, oka and faalifu kalo at? And then a meat pie for NZ to rep Maori? Nope.
I used to live in Honolulu in the late 80's and would drive by the center often on the way to my favorite beach. Wish I had, seeing the two videos you have shared. There is a nice selection of Polynesian treats!
I'm not just giving this vid a thumbs up because I'm Polynesian and Mormon, but also because of he face. Heck, he's funny - the way he chews and looks at the camera, then his eyebrows are raised and goes, "ummm". Freakin funny, bro.
Wish you could try a real NZ pie! I reckon you'd be quite impressed. That one looked really dry and old. Regardless, awesome video. Those sweets look delicious.
I went to school there and worked at PCC. I wish they would have featured more of the traditional food, like palusami in Samoa. Nevertheless, the food at the center is pretty good.
Please come to new Zealand and try a real pie . That was way to dry . They should have more gravy in them and also try a maori hangi and a good boil up of pork bones and water cress . Is so good
Yes our Maori warriors used to slow bake their mince pies into a dry husk just before they would head out to battle. Jokes aside, at $7 that's a seriously over priced pie, that would get you 3 pies and a can of drink in some parts of Auckland. What makes me sad is how the pie is supposed to represent Māori cuisine and if that wasn't a big enough joke it is sold by an Asian vendor. Misrepresentation at its finest
I miss eating all kinds of Hawaiian foods super delicious I lived there for over 7 years I have great memories living in Oahu Hawaii I have family that still lives there and I miss them A lot I hope to visit them again soon Thanks Mark Weins you're the best
Bro the way this guy takes a bite of all the food he ordered then he just stares at the camera for like 2 secs then tilts his head and goes “mmmm” with his eyes wide open is so funny 😄 7:25
He Mark and Ying!Another awesome video!!Love all the food especially the bread with coconut cream..I'm hungry right now! Thanks again mark and ying for sharing all your adventure..-Elwyn-
+Eric Thach It depends on who makes the the pie or how the pie was made. I've tasted good ones and bad ones as well. There even better when they're hot. They're like apples. There are good tasting apples and there are crappy tasting ones.
Hey Mark, since you liked our Fijian Curry so much. Would you please do a tour to the Fiji Islands. Am sure you will love the islands and our amazing food. Our lovo is a must try and you'll love our palusami, similar to laulau in Hawaii but with coconut milk and corn beef/mutton.
Isn't it amazing that the food represented here is found in some way around the world? Purple yams and the quiche are two examples of food. Quiche is a meat, egg, cheese and vegetable filling in a crust. I don't use the crust. The little meat pie and the pineapple goody were like empanadas. Little morsels of richness. The only thing I didn't see was poi. I am one of the weird ones, I like it. Great video Mark and Ying.
Wish you could try the samoan Luau it's taro leafs with pure made coconut cream. I think that would be more of a taste of Samoa for you that I reckon your sure to love.
Mark and Ying, Wonderful video. I would really like the drink with lychee and also the Fijian Curry - oh my goodness that looked good. Have a great day :)
I loved d way u eat the food, I miss those looks on how some few people eat and they really enjoyed it. I remember one of my teacher and every time she eat her looks almost same as u. Love all ur videos!! Love Thai food soo good!
Hi Mark....Peter from Peter and Yen youtubers commented as you being their fav utuber so I have now followed as well....i gotta say mark that your videos are awesome....cool video !!
What an amazing center, I love all the different types of foods that you tried!! You are right, the curry looked the best of all the foods. I hope that one day I will be able to travel to Hawaii....I really want to visit the island and eat the native foods!!!!
For me, the interesting thing is, how easy it is about the food to come into contact with other people and cultures. Eating brings cultures, countries and people around the table. Food says a lot about other countries and people. Whether one speaks the Different languages, it tastes good, everyone understands.
Polynesians might be surprised but we people of the indian subcontinent make the same coconut dishes too, just not in the same method, I included Sri lanka too.
I know this video is a bit aged! However, you must come to NZ i think its in March for our Pacific Island festival called -Pacifika. Free event lots of performance stages of Polynesian and Melanesian foods and arts crafts etc... please New Zealand on your bucket list. And if you come look for me and i’ll make you some South African food
I love that Mark can try everything and give his best feedback. How he stays in shape after it all, I'm amazed. I wish I could do the same. If he didn't like it, great, good on him for his honesty. Not everyone likes all and Mark does not have to like everything he eats. It's a shame the market didn't sell what we islanders prefer to have seen. It's not Marks fault. The NZ pies. Not Marks fault. His feedback is all we need. @Mark Weins, well done. I love your travel and tasting of food. I stand by your comments. If people want to complain then don't watch these videos. Go there and try it yourselves. Marks videos are of good quality. Clear information. Subtitles. Recommended by others for him to try. God bless you Mark Weins.
I remember when I was little and going to Hawaii emerge school , we had a field trip to the Polynesian culture center and they had this like strawberry ice cream with coconut milk inside a pineapple, probably my favorite part of going there 😂😂 (around 2000-2001)
When I was there I never saw any of the food places which is a shame as I would have loved to try some of that food. I did enjoy going round seeing the different areas and the food at night was pretty good.
I even bought round Samoan banana pancakes. My other mate liked it. She asked me the other day "if I could buy her those delicious BALLS I brought the other day"...I ended up eating her muffin...haha
The thing is this isn't real Poly foods lol these are snack bars he's visiting they're serving most popular SNACK foods only. The real Poly food is actually served there at the Polynesian Cultural Centre in all the restaurants I know there's a main restaurant with a Poly buffet from all islands
omg so happy you got to taste panipopo which is the best in my motherland island and also our meat pie which is the best in the world here in new zealand happy travel to your next journey. I love watch your uploads thumbs up to and your team crew as well stay blessed :-)
I wish for Samoa they had oka (raw fish in coconut cream), and maybe luau (taro leave and coconut cream package).. or even curry lamb.. the nz pie looked a bit dry.. shud consult the Asian bakeries in South Auckland 😂 Cool video regardless 👌🏾🔥❤
Hi Ying & Mark, I was very surprised to see you eating a meat pie on your channel. It did look a little dry though; not enough gravy. Here in Australia, it's one of my favorite snack foods. What did Ying think of the meat pie? Jim.
I think a lot of the foods shown here are catered toward the tourist crowds, so it may not be the more common traditional foods most Polynesians are accustomed to.
I can't get over the way he chews the food and looks @ the camera without blinking. And then he's like "Mmmmm." XD good stuff
Frank Botos. He's staring into my soul.
Frank Botos yeah I know it's like he has a screw loose. lol.
I think it's his own way of being passionate and enjoying a few different types of food that he happen's to find tasty. some of the different types of food has not gotten the same reaction. lol
marty fowler
Thank you for your manners.
🌺🌺🌺
omg it scares me!
I reckon if they had a PCC in New Zealand the food would be more traditional and accurate. Seriouly, kaleve sosisi and alaisa for Samoa? When thinking of Samoan cuisine I would never in a million years think of bloody sausages and gravy wtf?!
Haaaaaaaaardout
Because Hawaii is plastic as Lol
yep you right...i was thinking how the hell Mr sausage came to be in a tradition dish
Don't ever remember sausge, gravy on rice as Samoan food😲
Lol......
Nope.
Redeemed Stone they show the most voted food
Zane Devoux
Oh ok, but nah it's not true Samoan food. Sapasui should take over sausage and gravy. C'mon PCC.
+Zane Devoux most voted???
+Redeemed Stone any fai ai i'a, or fe'e etc would be suffice.. Sapasui is a from the Saina
Yeah true, but I'll still take sapasui over sausage and gravy.
fijian curry really is something, i'm so glad you tasted a version of it!
All that eye contact man. LMAO
I know right!
Indeed..anything but that sausage and rice...lol
Wish you could try a real NZ pie! I reckon you'd be quite impressed. That one looked really dry and old. Regardless, awesome video. Those sweets look delicious.
Michael Ryan Thank you Ryan, I hope to in the future!
I so agreed that was nothing like a nz pie it looked dry.
+Michael Ryan Big Bens Steak and cheese all day bro lol
If I was to buy that, I would have returned it egghhhh
Michael Ryan omg u should try its like heaven
Did anybody notice the fast and furious Tokyo drift song at 3:45
I noticed it too but wasn't too sure if it really was it lol 😅
Frank tran Hahaha I did so funny was going to comment
Frank tran yea 😂😂😂
i did
😂
I went to school there and worked at PCC. I wish they would have featured more of the traditional food, like palusami in Samoa. Nevertheless, the food at the center is pretty good.
The girl in the beginning was so sweet :) Very kind people
Please come to new Zealand and try a real pie . That was way to dry . They should have more gravy in them and also try a maori hangi and a good boil up of pork bones and water cress . Is so good
I'm sure he'd love queenstown and that area. Just for the incredible fresh air
I so agree that wasn't fair he needs true Aotearoa kai.
Mince and cheese is the pie for me
Yes our Maori warriors used to slow bake their mince pies into a dry husk just before they would head out to battle.
Nz pies tastes kaka
I miss eating all kinds of Hawaiian foods super delicious I lived there for over 7 years I have great memories living in Oahu Hawaii I have family that still lives there and I miss them A lot I hope to visit them again soon Thanks Mark Weins you're the best
really nice video, mark!i watch u video on youtube for 2years..love people like u man.keeping touch
I've never seen someone explain my own food so well
Bro the way this guy takes a bite of all the food he ordered then he just stares at the camera for like 2 secs then tilts his head and goes “mmmm” with his eyes wide open is so funny 😄 7:25
I love watching this guy! The next time I'm at PCC, I'll be sure to try all the different foods at each village! Mahalo Mark!
Mark, when are you going to visit Fiji? I think you would enjoy the food there. Thanks for the great videos!
He Mark and Ying!Another awesome video!!Love all the food especially the bread with coconut cream..I'm hungry right now! Thanks again mark and ying for sharing all your adventure..-Elwyn-
the fijian curry and roti are to die for, UGH! i miss the islands, thank you for the wonderful video! enjoyed it . . .
Every time he does the mmmmmm sound after a big bite and look straight into the camera. It cracks me up 😂
Notice how he didn't close his eyes and tilt his head for the pineapple pie? Pie was bad.
Also, that girl's English was on point
+Eric Thach It depends on who makes the the pie or how the pie was made. I've tasted good ones and bad ones as well. There even better when they're hot. They're like apples. There are good tasting apples and there are crappy tasting ones.
He should've tried a the half moon pies from Samoa.
I enjoy your enthusiasm for the food you eat, makes me want to travel, however I will live vicariously through you! 😀
That is so cool you went to the PCC. I used to work there...absolutely love that place. Good job Mark
This is one of, if not the best, food review/sample/tour I've seen! Thank you I am really hoping to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center. :)
How you gonna have Samoan food and not have corned beef hahaha

....man that sausage looks amazing
They didn’t have this when we went a couple weeks ago. Would’ve been awesome to try.
Otai is good man. But come to Tonga and have a tunu puaka with some Lu Sipi.
Come to Oceania man. There is alot of culture you need to see here.
agreed
Pineapple pie looks very much like an empanada. YUM.
I immediately thought the Koelepalau was Poi. 😂
Wow Mark, u flew from Malaysia to Hawaii straight , that's awesome!
I love to watch you and your wife visit Hawaii, this is my favorite state of U.S.A. I would try to cook Hawaiian food!
I love ur videos SO MUCH. don’t stop PLEEEZ
That pie was a disgraceful representation of the NZ meat pie bra.
it was a fruit pie not meat
8:06 Met pie genius.
Another fool who comments before thinking or even watching properly.
TonganDeathGrip Dont call me a fool lol you can shut that down right now I don't know your country's slang don't mean I'm a fool bye

Wish you could try the samoan Luau it's taro leafs with pure made coconut cream. I think that would be more of a taste of Samoa for you that I reckon your sure to love.
You should visit Fiji and do a food video there and introduce Fiji food as it's delicious and unique ☺️
Some foods youve got to find elders to make for you. Kanga Waru and Kanga Pirau and Maori bread/Rewana. Those are uniquely New Zealand.
Another awesome video Mark! The bun/pudding looked nice. Looking forward for more!
Love your video's born and raised in Hawaii and seen any of their shows. Right on Mark
Mark and Ying, Wonderful video. I would really like the drink with lychee and also the Fijian Curry - oh my goodness that looked good. Have a great day :)
Tess Cooks 4u Thank you Tess
Very nice! The chicken curry and the meat pie looked especially good! The quiche looked very much like a small French quiche.
I hope that one day I will be able to travel to Hawaii....I really want to visit the island and eat the native foods!!!!
will likely go with the Sausage & Gravy, Meat Pie, Quiche and the Koelepalau

Polynesians might be surprised but we people of the indian subcontinent make the same coconut dishes too, just not in the same method, I included Sri lanka too.

Wow! Your pronunciation of Samoa and panipopo is so accurate. Lol. Made me hungry.
Drinking game: Everytime he takes a bite, looks dead into the camera and goes "mmmmmh", you take a shot.
I know this video is a bit aged! However, you must come to NZ i think its in March for our Pacific Island festival called -Pacifika. You chew weird but it makes me happy when your face lights up as the favour hits 😁 Thanks for the great video
When I was there I never saw any of the food places which is a shame as I would have loved to try some of that food. I did enjoy going round seeing the different areas and the food at night was pretty good.
great video as always 😊
You're just missing some tomato sauce for that pie Mark haha
the Tokyo drift theme playing in the background after he tries the otai gives me life
PCC is basically a touristy-Americanized version of polynesia/hawaii.
and yes! i do enjoy your video!! always support mark and ying! good work!
Fijian raw fish (Kokoda), Fijian curry, 'otai, and Koko Samoa are my favourite Polynesian food and beverages
9 "good delicious food dishes very nice video😋💯👍💖😍
Nice. I enjoyed watching you and the scenery. Shall visit soon.
I even bought round Samoan banana pancakes. My other mate liked it. She asked me the other day "if I could buy her those delicious BALLS I brought the other day"...I ended up eating her muffin...haha

Great video Mark. Now if only visiting different countries was as simple as walking over to them, the way you did there! :)
Sunshine That would be convenient!
Mark Wiens i was at the Polynesian Cultural Center ... about 8 years ago. Loved it. Had a great time, and loved the show(s), as well :)
Mark Wiens I MARVEL at how skinny you stay eating like you do ....
Man, how DO you do it? ;)
WHERE'S THE CORN BEEF AND TARO?!?!?!?
I wish for Samoa they had oka (raw fish in coconut cream), and maybe luau (taro leave and coconut cream package).. or even curry lamb.. the nz pie looked a bit dry.. shud consult the Asian bakeries in South Auckland 😂
Cool video regardless 👌🏾🔥❤
Hi Ying & Mark,
I was very surprised to see you eating a meat pie on your channel. It did look a little dry though; not enough gravy.
Here in Australia, it's one of my favorite snack foods.
What did Ying think of the meat pie?
Jim.
I was trying to count how many thank you's you have said in the video....
I think a lot of the foods shown here are catered toward the tourist crowds, so it may not be the more common traditional foods most Polynesians are accustomed to.
my class had to watch this and we kept laughing at the faces he made everytime he would bite
Ahahahaaaahahahahhhaaaaa 😲 Mark Weins facial expression after eating that 🍛curry. Freakn hillarious!!!
Wish I had seen this before visiting Hawaii.
Otai for life! And curry! And pie! And, I CAN'T COUNT ALL THE GOOD POLYNESIAN FOOD!
Tokiyo drift song playing on 3:44
The meat pie seems soooo good!!
I always feel hungry after watching your videos
