When you rewatch and you will…during Crazy Little Thing Called Love..Dr Sir Brian May plays 3 different guitars..acoustic, Fender and The Red Special…so many fantastic moments.
It wasn’t only Queen who realized they had been sensational. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star. “Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, because they could connect with an audience.”
I love this concert. I have listened to it so many times and never get tired of it. Each act was only allowed 20 minutes at this benefit concert. Thank you for your reaction.
Saw the whole LiveAid Concert on good ol' MTV, back when that channel used to play music, and the Queen performance definately stood out, Freddie Mercury sure got the crowd fired up and responsive. Never got to see Queen live, really like their first four albums a lot, but it just never happened. RIP Freddie, you were something else. And Messers May, Deacon and Taylor were pretty okay too. LOL.
Good to see another generation enjoying Queen’s brilliance. The whole western world watched Live Aid ‘live’ on TV transfixed - we knew it was a special moment in time ❤
At a later concert Freddie asked the audience what they'd like to hear. Everyone shouted Bohemian Rhapsody. He explained why it couldn't be done live because of all the over-dubbing in the opera part. So he asked again what they'd like to hear. Again, everyone shouted Bohemian Rhapsody. So after that they created a different presentation. They would sing before & after the opera part which was shown on a big-screen video on a darkened stage with a light show.
Man, Queen just didn't rock that stadium. They rocked the whole world. At the moment of this broadcast, the best estimate is that approximately 1.9 billion people were watching that. At no point in the history of man has one person held so many people in the palm of their hand. It is the closest anyone has come to ruling the world. In bars and living rooms, stadiums and theaters and everywhere in between almost 2 billion people sang along and clapped together. I did in a living room in New Hampshire as did so many of my friends, I've met people from every part of the country who say the same thing. Around the world, we were all there. Almost 25% of the human population. This moves me every time I see it. It was beautiful.
I’m with you ❤ Freddie is the best Vocalist, frontman, musician, entertainer!! And agree there are many that are great! Freddie though, it’s unmatched! My opinion! 💕 :)
Four excellent musicians ALWAYS working together bringing fans The Best entertainment. Each song was brief - enabling them to do 6 selections in the mandatory time limit. John Deacon (Deaky) the bass player was constantly rockin' all over that stage, Roger Taylor, drummer, relentless and still giving vocal backup to Freddie Mercury, Queen's legendary and spectacular Front Man. Sorry this was cut so many times....didn't even get to hear Freddie at the end tell the fans "We Love You". Oh well. . .
FANTASTIC REACTION!! FYI… THERE IS ALSO A QUEEN ENCORE AT LIVE AID… “IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED?” (You can find the video on the official Live Aid YT channel) And a little fun fact since you’re a Brian May fan: MOST FOLKS DON’T NOTICE that during “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”… Brian plays THREE DIFFERENT GUITARS.😃
Radio Gaga was pretty recent a release.. they wanted to play all of it. Just sped up..BohRhap is usually split up if it’s done live..20 mins isn’t really a lot of time to do 6 songs with ad libs in between!! Another cool observational fact.. Brian changes guitar 3 times in Crazy lil thing called love..acoustic to black electric to his famous Red Special!!
I wonder if when people refer to 'the greatest concert ever' they were actually referring to the whole Live Aid concert in general or Queens performance? If the former, then I certainly would disagree as the 1969 Isle of White festival and Woodstock are probably the greatest. However, Live Aid was most definitely a momentous occasion. As to Queens greatest performance, I think a lot of people would consider their Rio concert to be this. However, Queens performance here was brilliant. As you so rightly pointed out, Freddie Mercury had the audience eating out of his hand. For me personally, Queen were a band that at first I liked very much. I still have their first 4 LP's in my collection. However, after that they became too commercial for my taste. I didn't mind at all the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, as it was and still is a masterpiece in my opinion. But songs like Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race? Err! No thank you! So all in all...very enjoyable reaction. Many thanks. Regards as always from little old England. Cheers. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦
Nice! in 1977, Queen and Thin Lizzy (with Gary Moore in the band) went together on an american tour. Billed as the Queen Lizzy tour, it must have been one of the most awesome double bill shows ever. With three of the greatest guitarists ever and two of the best frontmen in the history of rock. Here's Thin Lizzy from Sydney in 1978. To celebrate the cleaned up release of this Thin Lizzy Sydney show, you should react to this video. th-cam.com/video/juiJiuAaWc8/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1

david Bowie followed them and said "bastards, how do I follow that?"that sums it up.
I remember catching bits and pieces of LIveAid on MTV when it first aired. I was 14 years old then. Good memories!
I love this concert. I have listened to it so many times and never get tired of it. Each act was only allowed 20 minutes at this benefit concert. Thank you for your reaction.
In one hand a mic and in other whole audience. He is the greatest forever!! Beautiful reactions. Thank you 😊
Being a big-time deadhead, this is probably the best 20 minutes in rock and roll absolutely amazing

Wow.. Wish I was in that moment of unity. Love you Freddie and the members.
I’m with you ❤ Freddie is the best Vocalist, frontman, musician, entertainer!!
And agree there are many that are great! Freddie though, it’s unmatched!
My opinion! 💕 :)
I too happily notice how Freddie said ‘occasion’. ❤
Freddie sounded amazing despite having laryngitis the week before, and was performing against his doctor's recommendation.
This concert was sold out before Queen was announced to be there.
Enjoyed your Enjoying
Really enjoyed, thank you for the vid

And Brian was awesome too and yeah Freddie was playing his best instrument…the audience
Great reaction thanks for watching it ❤
Love Freddie so much ❤❤🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂
They had to shorten Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You to fit into the time slot.
FANTASTIC REACTION!!

And a little fun fact since you’re a Brian May fan:

Brian plays THREE DIFFERENT GUITARS.😃
I wonder why?
@@marvalstith2749 probably because each guitar has a different kind of sound.
@@bandmom3505 Hmmm Freddie aimed for simplicity for that track...
Greatness

Ummmmm it skipped over the whole dayo section? That’s a bad clip, should run approximately 29 minutes and it cut off the end too
I agree wholeheartedly. I knew about the ending but not the dayo section
❤❤❤❤😊
