Great video, Mike! 👍
Nice, short, and to the point! Many thanks!
Mikey Pipes, What about the drain on the catch pan?????
Quick and easy. 🛠
I have a tip from a 60 year old dude that will prevent the dreaded overflow of water and cause the ceiling to cave and or just nasty water spots in the future. I mainly did this in Texas where everything is in the attic. They have a special little safety attachment that is mounted on the side of the pan. It is wired in to the system and turns the system off till you get the drain cleaned out. It's about six inches by three and it uses a small plunger and it trips.
What do you think of Air scrubbers on air handlers
Are float switches required at drip pans? Would a cleanout at the trap be better than a union?
Hey Mikey
“All That Remains” shout out to Phil Labonte!
Thank god for float switches. Great way to save your ceiling. It should be code to put a drain on emergency pan and put a pvc ball valve to drain until a service tech can come on clear the primary. Just my opinion. Unions are key as well. No more couplings. Good work Mikey pipes
Good job budd
Mikey! You blew the big white pipe!
Am I the only one who uses a simple garden hose to blow out the drain lines? I have DIY installed the same type of male/female PVC screw-on coupling. When it comes time to flush the drain lines, I simply unscrew the coupling, and then use an alternate fitting which has an end that attaches to a garden hose, and flush with water. Works great. I've always been afraid to have a service tech "blow out" the PVC drain lines (which run under the slab of my house using air pressure of any kind, because too much and that could crack the pipe (with all its twists and turns and elbow joints). And PVC drain lines like this that are 25+ years old could potentially be damaged by high air pressure which would be a nightmare scenario to fix with a bypass drain line.
mine, along with the one in this video are on the 3rd floor in an attic...not really easy to run a hose 100 ft, but I guess it would work....I usually do what Mikey does here and just disconnect and blow a little air(not high pressure) into the pipe to clean
Hey quick question. Recently had new system installed seem to have a small drip at the air handler where the drip tube comes out. What can I do to fix it? I do not want the installer back at my house, helper stole stuff when they did the installation, thanks in advance
My ac is only 5 years old. New home. Ac still runs but pan is full. Does your ac still run with pan full
How about a clean out tee and a vent
Hey Mickey, of Mickey Pipes Plumbing not easy being chessy. I like your podcast/social media. I guess some more of your customers still checking in on you. A little more Terminator two, Judgement day ? Hmm, a t-y ? how about a double t-y ? or a long pattern t-y ? Love you buddy you be safe out there. Jolly good show old boy, God save the King.
I'm going to go ahead and give you another line to use on the big show Mikey.
Cocky-Free HVAC!!! 💪😎👍
I don't see a float switch in the emergency tray and I don't see the condensation tray either. It is super important to block the condenser and thus avoid further damage. The drain does not have a line through which pressurized air can flow. The universal union is a good option but it is also good to periodically put vinegar in the water traps and leave access for this purpose. Otherwise the video is good.
would it be better if the drain were underneath the unit instead of on the side ? it appears water has to stand and get to a certain height before it can drain
How about a clean out tee,and a vent
Ya got some nice pipes on ya there Mikey
Thanks, buddy! Your comment made my day!
I figured out what prev clog uses. So I just use that.
@@PipeDoctor awesome. Can’t wait.
@@PipeDoctor pipes 4free install? or are you replacing this?
great video Mr pipes, i tell my customers, you know when you do preventive maintenance on your air conditioner system? yup in the fall or early spring, not in the summer.check capacitors, inspect overall condition of unit, put condensate tablets , in the now not boiling attic, rinse outside condenser. yes, checking pressures only in the summer, or temps over 70-80 degrees. or if their is an issue. most homeowners really neglect their hvac systems. until they are hot or cold. hacks brings stacks.
@@PipeDoctor Heck yea! Keep doing good! Expect nothing in return! Much love!
Great video! ? I keep hearing mixed things regarding a vent, after the p-trap. Some people say you need it some say you don't. I'm about redo mine because they forgot to install a clean out and wanted to know if I should do a clean out AND vent.
Yes. Just make sure the vent is dirt dobber proof.
I always install clean out/vents before the p-trap and throw a cap Not glued of course for easy cleaning in the future. Many systems I've come across don't have clean outs/vents and many didn't have the safety switches in line either. It amazes me how many guys don't put these things in when they install.
Thank you!
What causes the clog?
schmegma
By the way Mickey, no vent on the drain line, again negative static pressure coming from the air handler does make a different. But again the ball is in your court. lol
1980's grey Thermaflex.
Trane ahu?
Might be one of mine
I don't get it. You blew the stuff blocking the drain back into the pan, but you didn't clean that material out of the pan so what's to stop it from eventually running back into the line and reclogging it?
yes, we vacuumed afterwards and flushed with water. relax
My drain isn’t clogged but when my unit kicks on 1/2 the water goes out the drain and the other 1/2 out the pipe to the pan then out that drain. Any ideas?
Some kinda pressure issue
How much condensation should come out of the central unit?
Is this really a question? You’re gonna ask me how much condensation should normally come out of the unit? Are you kidding me seriously
No bueno.... Cap up the primer when not in use
What’s the product that’s guaranteed to not clog condo drain for 20 years?
"hope and prayer" 🤪
@@throttlebottle5906 Did you get the product? Thanks!
Don't want the pipe cleaner to drip on the wood but unwilling to vacuum out the P trap? Pipe primer will NEVER hurt the wood in such quantities but the junk WILL fill the P trap again.
Who knew plumbing could be such a balancing act? Just be careful not to let that pipe cleaner drip on the wood - it's like playing Jenga with your plumbing!
It only showed about draining the pan. It did not show or describe the cause/ why the pan was filled with water and how to prevent that from happening again.
Clogged drain line buddy
close your glue and primer cans, before rattling on videoing. 🤣🤣
@@PipeDoctor lol, just seen them still open an unknown amount of time later in video and had to bust balls. 🤪
Why dont you just put a easy trap in? It's got a vent and a service port...
I call it a serviceable p-trap...anything else is none serviceable
I stand behind installing "easy traps" for members and new installs so the customers have a vent and a capped clean-out during regular maintenance..catching the junk in the trap and pushing it out through the capped clean-out.
