I love that the sword and roller players face against each other in an epic standoff at the start of the video, but the same two players join forces and fist bump each other after it’s revealed that the two have been working well together in comp. A really subtle yet amazing show of storytelling from the editor and writer!
The editing on this video is so fcking sick, I would absolutely LOVE to see more weapon comparisons like this if they're all going to have editing like this
I don't think I've ever actually watched one of your videos before, but this was a great introduction to your channel. Gotta say roller is just more fun imo
The sound when the score increases being the Puyo Puyo chain sound was genius, since they sound different at higher numbers. Its a small detail I dont think many people will notice. Great job, Oliy!
4:33 Decav would prefer to have any other throwable bomb. Especialy Burst bomb because Decav is the weapon that has the most combos with it. Roller would enjoy having Fizzy bomb, trading less mobility for more paint and chip damage
8:09 Can we get a video covering the top tier weapons? I like to play Tetras because I like the 4 dodge rolls and auto bomb, but every time I use slider I just wish it was splashdown instead, so I'm a little surprised to see it up so high
I'm a roller main and i also love the mint, but could you in the future make one of the categories gear dependence? Like how roller NEEDS ninja squid and maybe a lot of QSJ making for less swim speed up or something?
5:35 sir I can charge a curling bomb and throw it over a ledge giving me a suction bomb with the timing of a splatbomb on flounder lol, it’s funny how no one sees Curling as a kill sub lol
Comparisons that can be interesting: -Short-range shooters + Splat dualies and L-3 -Long-range shooters + squeezer and Douser -Splat charger vs E-liter -Carbon vs Ink brush vs Sploosh vs Dapples -Octo brush vs Trislosher -Luna blaster vs S-blast -splatana Wiper vs Dualy squelshers -Rapid blasters vs Bamboozler -Long-range splatlings -Dynamo vs Big swig vs Flingza vs Pain Brush vs Dread wringer -H-3 vs Squiffer vs Gootuber -Splat brella vs Recicled brella -Undercover brella vs Clash blaster
Personally, I think that Splat roller and Krak-on should’ve swapped subs. Make a fully aggressive roller and a fully supportive roller. Not sure how well that would go, but I love me some kraken so I’m using it either way
Small note, I’ve been grinding Decavitator since it launched and you actually have more reach than you think under ledges. If you charge and release the slash on the ground but jump immediately after you release the charge, you can get off the slash at the peak of your jump. I use this a lot under ledges, and while it’s not as good as roller or the other Splatanas at ledge poking, I’d say it’s significantly better at keeping things away from the ledge because of the wide hitbox. Basically you can block off the enemy team from using a ledge effectively unless they have a slosher or blaster.
With both of these sharking weapons defining the meta, does this mean that we will be seeing more double big bubbler and sharking in the upcoming meta? From a solo queue perspective, it seems that the ideal team is a weapon with 210, 200, 200, and 190/180 points for specials or some kind of variation. However, what that would look like in battle is 1 tacticooler weapon, 1 ink strike weapon, a big bubbler, and maybe one of the 210 weapons. Sure, the weapons could vary (possibly), but the special weapons would still be the same.
As a Splat roller main myself, I could argue against pretty much all of roller's points, 1. Ink efficiency is irrelevant since roller should NEVER be prolonging an engagement that they've lost stealth in, tossing curling bombs isn't that useful compared to suction or splat bombs. Decavitator being a more flexible (and better) weapon means it does see ink efficiency being an issue, but thats not because its worse, its a trade off for a positive attribute. So where as roller has better ink efficiency, it has worse fighting potential, while decav has worse ink efficiency it has better fighting potential. 2. Roller's 1-shot hitboxes are good, but to use them you need people to not clear you out from spots in which you can use them, you can easily force a roller out from a ledge with a bomb or two, or just firing at it. Decav's one shot hitbox is more just added gravy than a large part of the weapon. So even though I'll admit roller has better ones, that doesn't necessarily mean this point is worth a whole lot. 3. For sharking, Decav doesn't NEED to shark, but roller is BUILT for sharking. So this point is really apples-to-oranges and shouldn't be counted as "who can shark better" but as "who's fighting style is better" to make it more fair, in whichcase Decav definitely wins due to being able to shark but ALSO being able to fight without it, which roller is definitely weaker at doing without a bubble. 4. The bubble camping point depends on what/how the weapon is fighting. I definitely think this point needs more testing because they both have their own strengths and weaknesses. However Imo, with Decav being way more flexible in way more situations, you have better bubble placements than a roller. I think if people started dedicating themselves to getting better at Decav it could definitely push roller out of relevance. I've mained roller for nearly 9 years or something like that and i dont plan on stopping, its my #1 favorite weapon and the whole reason i even bought splatoon 1 in the first place, but with that much experience i can confidently say my favorite weapon SUCKS. I honestly believe the only reason its been in a good spot for this long is because nobody has seen it used in so long people haven't learned how to shut it down yet. Once they do, i think Decav will be the final nail in roller's coffin.
4:32 Honestly I think splat roller easily wins best sub weapon, i mean curling bomb is perfect for roller it helps a ton with it's mobility plus it can do other things like chip damage and what not. It's hard to think of a better sub than curling for roller. But decavitator's suction bomb doesn't live up to curling bomb on roller, i could think of a better sub weapon than suction for decav. Yes suction could help with chip-damage/comboing but it's too slow
The Decavitator is a broken weapon, regardless of who or whatever someone says. They're the ultimate in Timmy weapons that no-skills use to grind ranked matches.
0:00 Chara easily has the best editors on the whole fucking platform I swear
Agree
that intro bit was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oily is def the 🐐
The Xenoblade music also a prime choice!
"Hey, do you guys remember endgame Splatoon 2?"
2:24 Aha, bold of you to assume Sploosh players gauge whether they could take a fight before dropping in.
This made me laugh so much that is so true 😂
same for inkbrush, they just go in. don't care about results. all that goes thru our minds is damage = good and fast = good.
@@johnalexanderaylward I am speaking as a Sploosh main, I would know 8)
You should give Oliy a raise cause damn that intro 😭😭
i know! now I want to see the full match 😭
In 2 months i swear the intros are gonna be full 2 hour movies with amazing graphics
The editers ate actually making the intros better and better

8:34 I love these names lol
I know right like BlatrNOOB, bro that is comedy gold
I’m sorry THAT XEONOBLADE 2 MUSIC IS SO NOSTALGIC AHHH
I wonder, has Prochara's editor played Xenoblade? All of these XC2 tracks
2:53 Naw man not the curling dab
The editing on this video is so fcking sick, I would absolutely LOVE to see more weapon comparisons like this if they're all going to have editing like this
0:54 Dynamo SHOULD be able to do that too idc

love the editing here the puyo sound effects made me happy as a puyo enjoyer
Same, I was so happy to hear it!!
Mint Decavitator makes me feel like an Anime Samurai. I’ll always enjoy Roller too, but dashing around at the speed of sound just hits different.
The krakon roller kit he showed was out of date LOL, its 170p now
I don't think I've ever actually watched one of your videos before, but this was a great introduction to your channel. Gotta say roller is just more fun imo

4:24 man I know I haven't played Splatoon 3 in a minute, but Suction Bomb's looking a lot different than I remember
The editing is so good
Absolute incredible intro. Also love seeing competitive use on Decavitator, my beloved weapon!
Splatanas are my favorite weapon class, each one is so fun and feels strong in their own ways!
Damn this video format is fire. Props to the editor.
In a 1v1 Decav has an advantage because roller has less range and has to paint it’s way in.
NAH that intro is FIRE 🔥😭
These intros just keep getting better
W intro 0:00
The idea of a series where you compare similar weapons is really cool please do more
Glad to see this video I’ve asked you in past livestreams specifically the tier list which one is better so this will be a good watch
4:33 Decav would prefer to have any other throwable bomb.
Especialy Burst bomb because Decav is the weapon that has the most combos with it.

I can’t imagine decav having a burst swipe combo that’s terrifying
@@lemonquacklol ngl I can enumerate the myriad of Decav burst combos

ehhhhh

burst mint would make me salivate though, gimme.
Burst mint will never happen even if i pray for it every night, suction is already perfect for it tho
this was really interesting and a great way to show off each weapon
INTRO GOES SO HARD 🔥
"wheres splattershot jr?" (i mumble to myself knowing that its only good for bomb spam)

The music is so intimidating for some reason
There might be a reason for that; it’s Xenoblade battle music.
