I've been playing Startcraft since 1998. I had to upgrade my first PC to be able to play it. I had the same PC and played the same game up until 2006, when my old PC died and I had to get a new one. Once I did, the first game I installed was Starcraft. The first game I've ever bought on PC was a Starcraft Box set back in early 2000's. I had to upgrade again my PC to be able to play Starcraft 2. I fought on the Ladder back in the day, tried to get into competitive SC2 but failed miserably. As a married man now, I don't play that much SC any more, but one thing has not changed: I still follow you and your channel for my daily dose of Pro Starcraft. I genuinely do not know how many years I've been your fan, Artosis. I still remember your casts back in the day with Nick, I believe I still have some of your old casts saved on my old HD. I'm starting to believe that I'm your stalker... Don't ever stop bringing Starcraft for us older folks. Love you!
40 year old here, never played SC professionally but played a ton around 2000. Found this channel a couple of months ago and it's the only thing I watch nowadays during my tiny lot of free time between the kids falling asleep and myself.
(1) i like starcraft brood war.. (2) but you know, artosis casting stuff with indepth explanation.. some history trivia.. is REALLY the main reason why i am subscribed here. (3) of course.. chills as well. muhahah
A flash game before the end of the year? A Christmas miracle. Also another great example of flash’s game knowledge to have the sieged tanks to help hold
Also reavers, carriers, and interceptors. And anything that explodes of course (scourge, infested terrans, spider mines). Ensnare only increases the cooldown, and those units never actually use their cooldown for anything. It will still slow their movement, though (though it's hard to ensnare a mine), so for instance, ensnaring interceptors effectively reduces the rate they attack. But yeah, I'm sure it's a mistake that it doesn't slow the attacks of tanks and goliaths, which I think is because it doesn't affect their turrets that actually attack.
I was wondering why dragoons would attack slower when ensnared, though it makes sense if they're considered firing from the same level as their motion, unlike tanks and goliaths; they have to aim with their legs (likely by tilting towards their target).
Gratz on the 50k sub, I've been watching your streams on twitch for a long time but can't watch much lately because of work and I've taken the habit to watch your casts here when I get back from work while I eat and I've been enjoying it quite a lot!
Congratulations on surpassing 50k subs. I’ve been in awe on the fact that SC is still being played. I tell people it’s the best game ever created. I remember when I told my dad for a whole week that I was sick so I couldn’t go to school. I was just playing SC all day. Best channel to the best game in the world!
That Zerg composition had 4 different attacking units working in synergy. Even though Zealout lost, only a master could coordinate that level of micro and macro.
I haven't played StarCraft in a very long time and your videos are making me appreciate it even if i don't have the time to play, i can watch on breaks.
Love seeing underused Zerg Air, every Zerg Air was seen here, that's so based. The Support units like the Devourer are so undervalued, you don't need to mass them to make some use of their quirks.
There's a part of me that thinks "Wow, meta developments in Starcraft:Broodwar in 2024 is crazy to me - this is a wild thing". Then, there's another part of me that thinks "This is the greatest video game ever made, of course people are still playing and the meta is still evolving". Bless you for bringing this to all of us, Tosis!
Really?! They also slow the enemy units' attack speed, although not as much as Ensnare. Each Devourer shot splashes a level of acid spores on a number of enemy units, stacking to level 9 max (which requires 9 shots). And at level 9 the enemy units will have -9 armour and their attack speed reduced by half. I just recalled an amazing StarCraft moment from about 20 years ago: I had a friendly team game with friends on an island map. My friend had 9 Devourers and got attacked by 3 other guys with almost full air supply limits each (including a lot of Battlecruisers and Carriers), against which he stood no chance (we were on a bad footing and eventually lost the game). I had only 12 Valkyries, 3-3 upgrades and came to his aid, while instructing him to make sure he had splashed level 9 acid spores on all of our opponents' units. By the time I arrived his Devourers were gone and the other guys were ravaging his base, but all of their units had level 9 acid spores on them. It took my 12 Valkyries 2 volleys to eradicate and evaporate everything they had - 3 airborne supply limits gone in seconds! One of my greatest StarCraft moments!
The real combo is devourers + muta. Normally muta does 9 + 3 + 1 damage for 13 total damage. But if you get 9 devourer spores on the target, it adds to bounces too, so every muta deals 18 + 11 + 9 damage for total of 38 damage, that's almost triple the damage.
4:20 that's only true if you make 16 turrets at once. If you make 2+2+2 to start vs. the initial 6 mutas you only "lose" 8*6*2 ~100 minerals, but you also lose this much 7 seconds later. You basically get to make another barracks slightly faster increasing your marine production time earlier. But you never gain minerals permanently unless you skip turrets
Devourers seeing play because Valkyries are seeing play feels so good. Thank god they finally fixed the sprite limit bug so there's actually a reason now to make either of the damn things
such a cool game! Honestly I think that unusual zerg army showed a lot of promise if it were controlled better. The ensnare on the marines to prevent them from running up to the guardians looked really strong.
Flash is amazing at counter attacks. He does it so often and wins games off of it. He waits until there is a big fight and fights on two fronts because he has such good micro.
Man, spells in broodwar are so fucking great, most of them are very powerful situationally and have a serious opportunity cost to consider, but they shift in relative value based on how the meta shifts and the map in question, definitely something to always keep on ones radar. Except plague, that spell is always good and insane in any situation lol.
He probably wouldn't have won anyways but I was SCREAMING QUEEN QUEEN QUEEN when that command center was in the yellow. I wanted it infested so bad lol. Really fun game!
Ur casts are part of my daily routine, I watch them always after dinner (3PM GMT). Thank You and keep it up! P.S. Can we have some Sharp v zerg replay please ?
thats how you play vs mutas , you go out with marines mms to fight mutas in midle on the way to zerg base you force him to go back and defend his base with mutas instead him flying in your base and killing scvs
very cool game. I wish Zealot did not miss a small group of bio that killed him. Probably couple of guardians in some hard to reach defensive positions would have defended him from Flashes counter attack

A flash game before the end of the year? A Christmas miracle. Also another great example of flash’s game knowledge to have the sieged tanks to help hold
Yeah... In the last 10 ZvT games, you see Mutas just grinding through these Marines, and you start to question Bio as a whole. But Flash is Flash
I bet it was so annoying for Zelot to not be able to grind the marines at all.
Zerg have the advantage of more hours into Mutalisk control proportionally, so their skill level is going to be higher than bio usually.
The last 10 tvz I played the zergs got steamrolled
In Stormgate, hedgehod can turn into siege mode and fire air units
@@DanBoy-c3lin 2003?
One of the best zvt's I've seen! That air z push from Zealot would be lethal for most but that counterattack by Flash decisively won him the game
stinker
Hope you and your family had a great Christmas Arty!
holy crap 50k subs. Proud of yall man you do a lot of work keep us intertain and we appreciate that keep up the good work.
There's a phrase in melee that Scar said. "There's so much more melee left to play". And I feel that way about broodwar when I see this
Liquipedia says that the only units in the game whose attack speed is not affected by Ensnare are Siege Tanks and Goliaths (and Medics)
@@EebstertheGreat it makes sense, tanks fire slow anyways and gols pilots are inside their cockpit so it should not affect their own movements.
@@FlymanMS I'm not sure why ensnare affects laser beams, rockets, and little guns but not big guns.
it's because of how the game is coded. siege tank and goliath are actually two units on top of each other, the turret part is a separate entity
I was wondering why dragoons would attack slower when ensnared, though it makes sense if they're considered firing from the same level as their motion, unlike tanks and goliaths; they have to aim with their legs (likely by tilting towards their target).
Came for the chills, stayed for the commentary.

Really neat game. Love seeing the Queens and Devourers.
Congratulations on 50k subscribers!
Zealot's defense of his third base was a box art battle - glorious. Fun game.
love the casts I initially watched people trolling you on your main channel, now I basically just watch this channel
Absolutely beatiful game. Thanks Arty for continuing with these casts!
Merry Late Flashmas GITC!!!! Thanks Arty! 🎄🎁
How little the Muta did to the bio ball in the midgame was insane.
Devourers, Ensnare... Infested Terrans? Asking too much...
broodlings
thanks for keeping interest in the game alive
I still remember the long series that you cast of Rain vs Zealot. By far one of my favorite rabbit holes you went down
Love seeing underused Zerg Air, every Zerg Air was seen here, that's so based.

I'm subscribed, therefore Artosis appreciates me. This is zen.
Flash and Zelot have interesting dynamic between them, always fun to watch their games.
Devourer and Queen are the Dark Archon of Zerg, instant like.
I literally had no idea what devourers did until now
you pretty much never see them so i dont blame you

I tried using them years ago and they didn’t do any damage so I thought they were bugged and never used em again
imagine debuff on their armour.
but i did not know of reducing attack speed. so wow.
Woah that zerg play. That was awesome
its very cool seeing devourers being used !
i watch every video you put out, love it

"he's mostly playing custom games...

Congrats on the growing subs!
What an insane game. Can't believe im seeing so much "new" stuff from these pros
Beautiful and eternal StarCraft Brood War
I've never actually seen a devourer until just now
Yeah and it did a lot against the valks
They have popped up here and there in a few games, but they are very rare
They are the vaquita of SC for sure
Holy smokes, I can't believe how well he held that push, and micro'd his marine/medic ball at the same time!
I'm a simple man. I see Flash, I get chills, I press like.
4:38 "Third base on location"
Terran brain
Has anyone ever mentioned how fire the Terran music is?
@10:58 that valk split was cray

New meta. Zelot takes the CC and makes infested terran
such a cool game! Honestly I think that unusual zerg army showed a lot of promise if it were controlled better. The ensnare on the marines to prevent them from running up to the guardians looked really strong.
Now that's a genuine Christmas gift. What a game!
Man that poking he did with those mutas to get dmg in before morphing on low hp was so good beautiful game
I CANT BELIEVE I WAS LATE TO A FLASH GAME IM SO ASHAMED.
What an epic strat. Queens are Zergs unsung hero, just like DAs for Protoss.
This will be devastating in the hands of SoulKey and Queen.
Even with some rust Flash's decision making is just so clean.
Crazy. Queens, Ensnare, and Devourers!!
Best show in Esports. I say this as a big time esports fan.
Flash is amazing at counter attacks. He does it so often and wins games off of it. He waits until there is a big fight and fights on two fronts because he has such good micro.

Love your videos Artosis!!
CHILLS, its ok its ok its ok its ok
What a great game! Very fun to watch something a bit off meta.
Yeh I’m tuning in every day to get my BW fix. GG
Devourers are underrated. Great to see ZeLoT using them, we might see a new meta in future.

Giant enemy flying crabs.

This. Was. Beautiful
One step closer to Zerg Christmas (plague/ensnare)
Oh finally a video i will watch

this one was fun
I don't think I've seen a devourer since I saw me use one.
I was here when the channel was at 20k 😮
Thx, man, happy NY
really cool game, would love to see zelot take this build even further
Would love to see how this build would work against Goliath builds...
Some Valkyrie miss micro by Flash but yea Valkyries can be very difficult and inconsistent to micro and that's the beauty of Starctaft isn't it
FLash, is BACK
I AM IN TEARS
Dat ensnare was sick though...
Devourers, guardians AND queens? You don't get to see those often, especially not together.
That was awesome!
didn't infect CC.. seems like diving on yellow-health CC's should be a strategy. how fast can mutas push a CC into yellow to infect it?
thats how you play vs mutas , you go out with marines mms to fight mutas in midle on the way to zerg base you force him to go back and defend his base with mutas instead him flying in your base and killing scvs
Was really hoping Zealot would do it, I really want to see more guardians/devourers/queens, pretty much any underused unit find a place,
Artosis: Bio ball
Me: people 😭
very cool game. I wish Zealot did not miss a small group of bio that killed him. Probably couple of guardians in some hard to reach defensive positions would have defended him from Flashes counter attack
