Use A Rotary Broom To Dethatch Your Lawn! Parking Lot Sweeping Is Easy With A Rotary Broom

  • Dethatching my lawn with a rotary power broom mounted on my tractor.
    I'm not sure if this will work, so I try out the dethatching process with a tractor-mounted power broom on a small area. It looks like it might be too aggressive, so I'm only testing it on a small area of my lawn first. I want to see how well it dethatches the lawn and also what type of long-term damage it inflicts. I'll probably wait a week or so to see how it recovers and then decide if I should use the broom to dethatch the rest of my lawn.
    I try out the broom on my parking lot which has a lot of debris, some crumbling areas of asphalt, and weeds among other things. The rotary broom does an amazing job of sweeping away anything in it's path in short order. I do sell three point mounted rotary brooms for tractors, although they are quite expensive. I do plan to try out a rotary broom for snow removal as well once the white stuff shows up this winter.

    Yikes! I dunno, that looked kinda rough on the grass. Might want to throw some extra water on that, thatch helps retain moisture. Good luck with that, keep us updated on how it turns out.....

    @GoodWorksTractors did this have the poly brushes or the poly and wire brushes? Do you think the poly and wire brushes would be too harsh on a lawn?

    The sweepster’s chain compartment/ PTO shaft should be on the left side of the sweeper, not the right side.

    I have a question about the newest versions of the John Deere 1025R & the 2025R. All I've ever seen is them with the ROPS in the forward position. I know they used to be able to have the ROPS straight inline. Can't you no longer have the ROPS in the straight inline position anymore??? I think it makes the tractor look soooo horrible with the ROPS angled forward like that!!!

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. No more straight up and down. I know the US versions copy the European versions a lot -- something to do with safety typically -- so I'm guessing that's the reason behind it.

    You need better mulching blades. Some thatch is not bad helps a lawn hold moisture. And adds new nutrition back to the lawn.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's good to have some thatch. Not good to have too much. First time dethatching in over three years. It is too thick right now.

    I've heard that a guy can spread sand on your lawn and use the broom and your lawn meows a lot smoother.
