I can't believe that MB doesn't have major theme park close. The fact this one didn't make it very long still amazes me. Thanks for the video. Happy New Year.
Good old Outlet Park/Waccamaw/Fantasy Harbour. I still remember the 3 malls, Medieval Times is still there, the lone survivor. I went to that outlet a lot when I was a kid. My mom & sis even toured hard rock park while they were still building it & I got a hard hat from there. I was bummed that this park didn't make it, it had a lot of potential.
We went to the movie theater often! That was the place to go, after the movie we would go to Waccamaw pottery to the food court to eat! The Run to the Sun car show originated on these grounds! They had around 250 cars back then in the 90’s and that was considered a good turn out, Now there are thousands of cars that make the trip every march for the car show which is now where the old Myrtle Square Mall was! Wow! How times have progressed!
Was vacationing in Myrtle when the park opened. My wife and I visited on Day 2 of the opening. Still have my Hard Rock Park baseball cap and my wife has the guitar pin. The rides were good.
I wanna see a new and more exciting theme park built on the site of the old Hard Rock Park/Freestyle Music Park like maybe a Six Flags Myrtle Beach or Cedar Fair’s Myrtle Beach Kingdom!
Unless myrtle beach can get an express way to I95 AND triple its population it will never happen. It's the reason it failed to begin with. Myrtle Beach's peak tourist season is only 3 months

My thing is like I just always wonder what the last day working at any of this abandoned theme park must have been like. Like I want to see it a week after the last day of work for these people. It honestly depends on how the park approaches it, the hardest is when they announce a closure. Closing a ride is VERY emotional, and just not fun. I can say from various people who worked in the Industry. After the park closed, they still had ride maintenance to look at the stuff. I remember an old story from someone, he worked with the company that helped relocate the rides. They had people come by from Vietnam to look at the roundabout coaster, he was able to get the ride going, but the wires and everything to the Onboard Audio were toast. Maintenance just cut it.

The movie theater was a nice, ordinary theater that was the go-to theater if you lived between CCU and the ICW. I remember watching The Matrix and There's Something About Mary there. One of the interesting parts of that area before the park was built is that they had all of these circus tents. But they were actually brick and mortar buildings with the exterior made like a circus tent. One was called the Cercle Theatre (yes, I spelled that correctly).
