This is a Lizardman appreciation post. I will fire the full power of the sun at Lorecrimes HQ if the next Fantasy Fireside is not the Childen of the Gods
I would love to see the lizardmen, however I would also want a more in depth look at the wood elves and Athel Lorn, you could do the lore of the forest too because athel loren was already there in the days of the old ones
I got the 6th edition dwarfs codex for like my 13th birthday and to this day I still love the fantasy dwarf astetic. Thorgrim Grudgebearer's model lives rent free in my head.
So Collen did touch on the runemagic of the dwarves but he didn't really go in depth on them. After the Slaan moved the world the dwarves actually lost the ability to access/create the most powerful runes. The exception to this is Thorek Ironbrow but even he doesn't have the ability to create all of the runes. It should also be noted that 2 of the 3 mortals that entered god-like status had powerful rune weapons. Aside from Nagash who is the father of Necromancy, both Sigmar and Gotrek had runes as their weapons on their path to godhood, before AOS of course. I just find it interesting since we know from the first Sigmar book that the strongest rune weapons choose their wielders and as such raises a question, do the more powerful runes elevate the wielders to godlike status or are they chosen becuase they already have something special about them.
A decent case study for your question would be Felix. His regular sword is a rune sword specifically designed to kill dragons, and when wielding it against that for he gets a passive buff to his courage and fire resistance, and has had his life and vitality extended over normal humans over time. Then in Daemonslayer, he literally showed his worthiness to wield mjollnir long before Captain America, taking up a mighty master-rune Warhammer to the shock of every dwarf in sight. Gaining the strength and prowess to throw the hammer to full effect. Many, including Felix himself believed the weapon too powerful for a mere human to wield safely. So to me a little of column A and a little of column B, depending on the potency of the weapon, with the more powerful of the Master-runes having a feel of "Almost" sentient, and as having a sense of their own agency
In regards to Malekith undoing the vortex, that was actually During the Sundering, which happened before the war of the beard. Malekith was facing down against Caledor the conquer, Father and all round far superior phoenix King, of Caledor the second. When he was finally close to being bested, Malekith tried to undo the Vortex and ended up getting slapped down by Caledor Dragontamer, all round best Archmage to ever exist. then he ran away to Naggarond. Also incase anyone is interested, the dwarfs have a lot to say about our idiot Caledor the Second, with no less then 437 grudges still in the book for him. As well they have quite a few additional titles for him. These being: The Coward, The Friendless, The irredeemable, The Thin, The Beardless, The Goat Lover, The Pale Princess, The Ale Sniffer, The Goat Worrier, The Goldless, The Unnecessary, The Broken, The Long Nosed, The Slayer of Kin, The Untrustworthy, The Nervous, The Frightened of Loud Noises, The Dark Fearer, The Fragile, The laughable, The Beard-thief, The Pointlessly Tall, The Honourless and the Intruder.
Hoping you talk about the flesh eater courts at some point. They are just really fun as a concept and we know they are getting an update around december
Khazukan Kazakit Ha! Always a good time when the Dawi are on the spotlight. And yes, please talk more about the lizardman, and give mah boi Kroq-Gar the recognition he deserves.
thisi so good, pls more lore sit downs. i knew already everything about the dwarfs but this type of story telling of lore is so nice while doing something else on pc
Some suggestions for next fireside chat is doing the Elves, Empire, or Orcs! Each will need a nice little overview and I think spreading the love is good. Love this series hope you make more fast lol
>The Old Ones made the dwarfs >The dwarfs say that the ancestor gods made them So, I'm picturing one of the Old Ones, putting on a fake long braided beard and putting on an accent, frog dude turns to the others and goes "Alright, lads, you think they'll buy it?"
I believe the question at around minute 41 was slightly misunderstood and then not picked up on again. I believe what Remember Man here was trying to ask was if a Dwarf had ever created a false grudge as a pretense for something, basically an equivalent to the modern claim of someone having WMD's as a pretense for war. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I understood the question.
Great one guys! I really like learning more about fantasy and AOS from y'all! I'm really hype to learn more about the lizardmen cause they're the AOS army I'm most likely to start. Keep up the great work, love y'alls humor
I know we have the Leagues in 40k but I honestly think the strongest analogue for the Dwarfs and the Chaos Dwarfs is the Imperial Fists and the Iron Warriors. Aside from their hatred for each other (though admittedly the IF and IW hatred usually leads to more fighting) but also the fact that both actually have a lot in common. From the stoic, focus on defensive building of the Fists to the destructive power of the Warriors who (like the Chorfs) seem to have some level of disdain for the rest of Chaos. Plus the Chorfs and Iron Warriors both like to imprison Daemons into machines to fight for them.
I bought all the total warhammer games and the Gotrek and Felix series bc of you guys like a few weeks ago and now I have 120 hrs and am 5 books deep...... Anyways great vid as always!
Nepotism is not a dirty word to Dwarves because they trust that whoever they choose for the job is either already qualified for the position, or he will kill himself trying to rise to the challenge. Dwarves are stubborn to a fault, but they aren't stupid and they will make alternative career choices if their skills and talents lie elsewhere, rather than just taking up dear old dad's job. The problem is that most dwarves are compelled to do so anyways by honor, and honor demands they devote themselves to it utterly. This is why Slayers tend to live so long that they go a bit crazy; they devote themselves so utterly to fighting for their lives to gain a worthy death, and they will not half-ass it and allow themselves to die, even when they're fighting gods.
Spoilers: Thorgrim's cool and all but I really hate what they did with Queek. That whole neck snapping sequence is part of Queek's own book. Like you have this whole plot and then it just skips ahead to Queek getting old and then getting stomped on by Thorgrim. His story just doesn't go anywhere. It wasn't even really a fight and Thorgrim just dies after that anyways to something completely unrelated. I hate the end times so fucking much. It's just them throwing away all these cool characters in anticlimactic ways by having them do stupid things so that we can have space marines except they're in fantasy now. A whole intricate setting thrown away for a blob of D&D schlock with a giant space marine shaped turd sitting on top of it.
Passing through with lore correction as a dwarf player The Dwarfs did not have cannons during the War of the Beard, they didn't come around until late into the time of woes Also no mention of Thorek Ironbrow, Im afraid thats a grudgin
I really want to see Colin's reaction to the H.R. Geiger Dark Elves Aliens that are the Spires from Conquest: Last Argument of Kings. They're a pretty interesting take on the elf archetype, and I think he'd find them interesting
Slayers CANNOT be forced to take the oath. It is ALWAYS a self imposed decision. (as told by Sotek and Andy Law, the latter wrote a bunch for WFB). Also not just death in battle. a WORTHY death in battle. Don't just charge into a group of clan rats, kill a dozen and then die, no. Not good enough, you wasted it. Trolls are often the minimum. Also they get trained, thoroughly, so they don't just die to a random goblin with a stick.
Bought a lot of WH fantasy books at Book-A-Million decade ago but last I went they had almost nothing WH related even though it used to take up an row and part of a wall. Used to annoy me how much more 40K there was.
At least there are the lessons of Khazalid tips on the Taals keep loading screen, and eventually you do know what he is saying. for example, Rakizharr is a flame rat
Ok, so when it comes to the High, Dark and Wood Elves, I believe there are some actual physical differences between them, mainly in the form of hair color. If I recall correctly, black hair is exclusive to the Dark Elves, while pure white/golden hair is only seen on High Elves. I don’t know if this is actually canon, but HE mainly worship the Cadai, the more benevolent gods, like Isha or Asuryan, while DE mainly Cytharai, the darker elven gods like Khaine and Morai-Heg. The wood elves keep the balance between both, and they have the most variety in appearance. This may be an absolute schizopost connecting gods to hair color, but there is at least a bit of a connection there.
Khazukan Kazakit-ha. Corrections need manling Chaos had their fingers in the war of vengeance shapeshifters infiltrated both sides and fucked with thing, if you read the war of the beard series and earlier on Dawi did fight chaos while the elves and lizards created the vortex its just looked over as its not the big event. Dwarfs even hunted the remnants of chaos when they met the Elves for the first time they were bastions of defence that chaos threw themselves at where by lowering the amount of Daemons attacking elsewhere. Gotrek Starbreaker got his name for almost eradicating the Urk in his campaign, his clan name is Thunderhorn. Well both Space Wolves and Dwarf are inspired by Norse Mythology and thus Rune magic. There used to be a collection models for the Gotrek and Felix crew. Thaggoraki you mean? I find that to be the best part of the voices in Skaventide
Waiting for Fantasy Fireside: High Elves over here, but I wouldn't mind watching the Lizardmen have a go first, if for nothing else than just to listen to Colin lose his shit over Lord Kroak.
Ill keep saying it: AoS Gotrek books just aint it. Gotrek without Felix is like Obelix without Asterix. Sure, Obelix is everyones favorite, but Asterix is the very much needed voice of reason and wittyness.
YESS FINALLY COLLEN GETS TO RANT ABOUT THE GLORIESB AND TRAGEDIES OF GOTREK AND SNORY!!!
I am happy to say that any mention of the dwarves not being perfect in this video has been written down in the book
Our great book of lorecrimes remains full
*dwarfs
That’s going in the book, you should be ashamed
The dwarven language is made up of 50% slurs and 49% slurs for elves
How to tell Collin to get good at Vermentide without telling him directly:
“That’s no ordinary flame, it’s a Raki Zhar!!!!”
This is a Lizardman appreciation post. I will fire the full power of the sun at Lorecrimes HQ if the next Fantasy Fireside is not the Childen of the Gods
I second this notion
Speak on the children of the old ones before they unleash jurrasic park on your neighborhood
They wouldn't even need to, they'd just have to build the Astromantic relays
I would love to see the lizardmen, however I would also want a more in depth look at the wood elves and Athel Lorn, you could do the lore of the forest too because athel loren was already there in the days of the old ones
Im in the opposite camp on Bardin using Khazalid. I actually have a half-decent grasp of the language just from hearing him use it so much.
That reminds me, i have to put today's entries into my personal book of grudges.
I’d like to see a full timeline/tactical breakdown of the Battle for Karak Eight Peaks.
I got the 6th edition dwarfs codex for like my 13th birthday and to this day I still love the fantasy dwarf astetic. Thorgrim Grudgebearer's model lives rent free in my head.
Cant wait for this, !!! Us short Kings finally get their time in the sun

As hard as all of those insults go, “the Unnecessary” is just on a different level. 🤣
Hoping you talk about the flesh eater courts at some point. They are just really fun as a concept and we know they are getting an update around december
Man, wish they talked more about Dawi-Zharr, Hashut is the best minor chaos god
I cant wait for the next fantasy fireside! A live stream for the lizardmen would be fantastic!
Give me a rock and stone
If you dont rock n' stone you aint going home!
yes it is time for the Dawi
11:25 Tea? TEA???!? That’s it! That’s a grudgin’!
Khazukan Kazakit Ha!
Always a good time when the Dawi are on the spotlight.
And yes, please talk more about the lizardman, and give mah boi Kroq-Gar the recognition he deserves.
Finally I can be Dawi pilled
Hope we get a Lizardman episode soon with a 10 min section alone dedicated to how Lord Kroak would demolish the whole 40K universe by himself!
"Just doing some dwarf killing. Signed, Guy Elfman."
thisi so good, pls more lore sit downs. i knew already everything about the dwarfs but this type of story telling of lore is so nice while doing something else on pc
Some suggestions for next fireside chat is doing the Elves, Empire, or Orcs! Each will need a nice little overview and I think spreading the love is good. Love this series hope you make more fast lol

This was an awesome video loved learning some new stuff about my favorite faction
I can finally become Dwarf pulled 🎉
>The Old Ones made the dwarfs
>The dwarfs say that the ancestor gods made them
So, I'm picturing one of the Old Ones, putting on a fake long braided beard and putting on an accent, frog dude turns to the others and goes "Alright, lads, you think they'll buy it?"
Playing Belegar's campaign while listening to this. Can't wait for the Old World models.
I love my Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2 representation here.
All your grudges accumulated over previous videos and podcasts have been stricken from the book as a result of this episode.
KAZUKAN KAZAKIT-HA!
Great one guys! I really like learning more about fantasy and AOS from y'all! I'm really hype to learn more about the lizardmen cause they're the AOS army I'm most likely to start. Keep up the great work, love y'alls humor
Give me the Eli family lore!
FINALLY, THE GREATEST OF AL RACES, ELVES BE DAMNED!
Brothers of the mine rejoice!
My 1st and abiding love haha, can't wait for the old world to come back :)
I was way too late for squats in 40k and waaay too early for the leagues. I like my fantasy dwarves!
I'm glad this video wasn't SHORT.
repub if hate elves

I really like these. Just started playing total war Warhammer 2 and I’m slowly getting acquainted with fantasy. Thanks guys!
I bought all the total warhammer games and the Gotrek and Felix series bc of you guys like a few weeks ago and now I have 120 hrs and am 5 books deep...... Anyways great vid as always!
Glory to Snorri Nosebiter, best dwarf.
Brb gonna make a bunch of accounts so I can like this vid multiple times

scheduling a video 4 days out? that goes in the book...
I learn more about the lore for Total War Warhammer by the month on this channel and I didn't even know I would!
She Bite my Nose till I Snorri?
And now i wait
Dwarfs can cast firestorm, they just use bombers for it, or flame cannons, or throwable explosives.
Would love a lizardmen fire side or a story on the 8 peaks either as a fire side or just a video by colin
My favorite fantasy race! Lets go!
Regardless of which fantasy universe they appear in - I love Dorfs
7:20 that's going in the Book of Grudges
Spoilers:
Thorgrim's cool and all but I really hate what they did with Queek. That whole neck snapping sequence is part of Queek's own book. I had no idea about this video. That damn notification bell is busted.
Passing through with lore correction as a dwarf player
The Dwarfs did not have cannons during the War of the Beard, they didn't come around until late into the time of woes
Also no mention of Thorek Ironbrow, Im afraid thats a grudgin
If Snorri Nosebiter has taught me anything, it's that horses are only good for eatin'.
Not recounting the last stanf of clan Angrund at Karak eight peaks is going in the book of grudges.
Chanting FROGS FROGS FROGS FROGS FROGS. Show him the Lizardmen animation that’s been floating around TH-cam.
I really want to see Colin's reaction to the H.R. Geiger Dark Elves Aliens that are the Spires from Conquest: Last Argument of Kings. They're a pretty interesting take on the elf archetype, and I think he'd find them interesting

They also no longer pay the beard tax once it reaches the ground.
Since Vermintide was mentioned, is it maybe an idea to cover the Ubersreik five in a video?
yis, do the spaceship continent-rearranging lizard frog things
Luv my aeldar but I know next to nothing about the high elves I trust as a fellow elf simp the lore would be done justice
Bought a lot of WH fantasy books at Book-A-Million decade ago but last I went they had almost nothing WH related even though it used to take up an row and part of a wall. Used to annoy me how much more 40K there was.
since we now had alot of fun to learn about the Dwarfs. How about another fun faction that all about eating and kicking ass, the ogre kingdoms.
Give my boys in Lustria some respect. They are the closest thing we have in Warhammer to the Covenant!
Can't wait for more hahaha
Oh, could one of y'all let me know what the intro music for Fantasy Fireside is? The description just has the usual Lorecrimes intro listed.
So dwarves essentially have their own shadow in the warp?
THAT IS GOING IN THE BOOK, DWARFS
At least there are the lessons of Khazalid tips on the Taals keep loading screen, and eventually you do know what he is saying. for example, Rakizharr is a flame rat
And them Umgak warriors
I checked my dexcom when that o so hated sound came up

Man I hope Kat is a stormcast.
I fucking love fireside

Waiting for Fantasy Fireside: High Elves over here, but I wouldn't mind watching the Lizardmen have a go first, if for nothing else than just to listen to Colin lose his shit over Lord Kroak.
Finally, after suffering through a 5 hour review of Quantummania i can hear about something i actually like
(very good review, but quite looong)
You forgot about the slayer pirates
Did I hear a rock and stone?
Wood Elf Lore?
Great vid lads. Everyone needs to take the dawi pill, or else I will be forced to use the book.
Dwarfs are a generic fantasy race but by god they are amazing and I don't know anyone who doesn't like dwarfs.
Them knife ears
Also nurgle
1:19:19
I'd be down for a lizardmen episode
I want lizard men next
Best race, simple as
A GIFT FROM THE LORB!
Stop saying "Waaa!" or I'll start seeing the Chaos Dwarfs as the Wario/Waluigi to the Dawi's Mario & Luigi
Ill keep saying it: AoS Gotrek books just aint it.
Gotrek without Felix is like Obelix without Asterix.
Sure, Obelix is everyones favorite, but Asterix is the very much needed voice of reason and wittyness.
Ork ork ork
