Old school with horns on the roof As someone else said make the side markers both signal and Marker mix the old with new technology Good job keeping the old trucks alive Glad to see it Well done
Love nostalgia when it comes to big rigs, the paint is really faded looking but maybe its my eyes... I am seventy five... old truckers never die..... wishful thinking
This has to be the coolest thing that ever happened to this channel. Brian getting his own truck and doing a build series that we can all relate to. Awesome Stuff Brian and congratulations on the Pete!
Congrats on your new ride Brian. I liked it the first time I saw it in the older video. I'm really partial to the 359's because that's what guys were running when I was younger, and when I first started driving... This one's a time capsule. Yes on the new cab lights and the fender lights. I always liked those. I remember when they stopped putting those on the fenders. I'm 63 years old, and I'm still not over them not putting the fender lights on anymore. It's really cool that they make replacement lights for those... Yes on the air horns. The air horns have been such a focal point on trucks for many years. To me it just looks like something is missing if a truck doesn't have them. I like the idea of putting 200 gallon tanks on each side. I think it will really improve the look of the truck. It's to bad that the dash isn't still wood grain because that's what I'm used to seeing since I was a kid, and I stared at one for quite a few years when I was driving. The Corvette dash is as iconic as it gets IMO. That is the perfect dash... I can't tell you how happy it made me when you said that you were going to put Hogue half fenders on it. Perfect !!! I've voiced my opinion of the SHIFT painted fiberglass fenders numerous times, and the thought of having those fenders on a 359 almost makes me ill LOL... I've been thinking about picking up a long hood 359 and going through it for about a year, but it has to be the right truck. Well, I know a guy that has had an incredible fleet of 359's for about 50 years and I think he will part with two of them. Both are 1978's with long hoods. One has a Detroit V-12 and the other has a 1693 Cat. One has a 36 inch sleeper and the other has a 62 inch sleeper. Of the two, I like the truck with the 1693 the most. Both trucks are very solid, rust free, complete trucks that run and drive...
I'd love to have the one with the 1693 in it I drove a cab over kw that had that engine in it and it would run 105 and back in early 80s it was double nickel everywhere on the big road man I miss those days it was fun but now trucking is gone to hell no brother hood everyone in there own little world we use to set in the driver's section of the restaurant's and talk while on a break loved Cassie's truck stop in Columbia SC was in there few times a week getting fuel and shower and would step in the restaurant and the girls new what I wanted to eat so while I took a shower she would get it ready miss those days now it's all fast food joints after 45 years I'm about ready to hang it up
@@timatwell3728 I really miss those days too. Things were so much different. There used to be small truck stops scattered around everywhere, but those are gone. Now it's all big chain truck stops, and if you aren't parked by 3p.m, you won't be able to find a spot, and thanks to a lot of the local Governments, many have implemented parking restrictions. I'm a third generation trucker. My grandfather taught me how to drive his log trucks when I was about 9 years old . I drove for a little over 40 years but I got hurt so I retired early. I miss the driving, but I don't miss the over-regulation and all of the b.s... You are right, there is no brotherhood. Most of the truck driving school graduates that are behind the wheel today aren't drivers. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked to put someones tire chains on, and there have even been several that have asked me to back their truck into a loading dock. It's pretty sad when trucking companies had to start buying trucks with automatics because so many of these people can't drive a 13 speed.
@@SEMICasualShow 😎 Absolutely. It's amazing how much it has already changed since it was pulled out of the weeds. It's hard to tell in the video but I wonder how well the paint will buff out ? I know it's not bright and flashy, but that color of yellow is one of my favorites.
Love seeing the old iron being restored. Reminds me of being a kid back in the 80's seeing these trucks rolling across Pennsylvania on the turnpike going back and forth to Ohio to visit family.
Dbl. Clutch, Ron, I had a 1970-- great truck, ran hard around the country. I ran 2 x 200 gallon tanks, put new stacks on 7" chg interior with a refrig. an apu , storage containers for clothing etc. ran great. Wish i still had it. I had repaint to a red flake and blue w/ gold highlights . thanks for rebuilding this classic . I alsi installed more lights ( chrome ) every where i could. battery box , tool storage etc etc
Grover roof mounted horns - left and right spot lights on roof - make marker lights on side fenders - turn signal on top finder - round fog lights in bumper . 2 red watermelon on each side of bunk ( down low ) - rectangular double led cab and sleeper lights with stainless steel guards. Maybe same lights along top sleeper . Basically lighting configuration ot the ol 359 chicken trucks of the late 70's / early 80's ....
WOW! Love this truck. I could just imagine what you guys could make this out to be. It would really look cool as a teal color but yet i like it like it is as a vintage look
There was a Cab Over project that lured me to this channel...? Still Watching, I enjoy all the projects, hard work(ers), and the dreams I have wishing. Keep up the great work all.
WOW.... I see great things with this truck..... CONGRATULATIONS Brian.... if it's a 400 a-cat.... Great engine... we had 2 both put 625 to the ground.... 6.5 mpg.... driving it rite.... and ran unlimited miles.... loved them both.... good luck with it.... ❤😊
WANNA see this OLE GIRL BUFFED😍spotlights & horns 359 still the King of the Road reminds me of The Big Mammo ... Winslow Moore 's graphics were the Bomb ... needs rectangular headlights back on it .everyone takes them off
Old school lowering the mirror brackets. Remove the door mirror brackets and flip them over. They will need to be switched from right door to left and vice versa, and they will look awesome. We used to do this back in the day. When done, the straight bars on top will be on the bottom and the angled up bars on the bottom will be on the top. Follow me?? Just a suggestion or reminder of what we did back in the 80s and 90s. Also while the mirror brackets are off we would sand and polish the aluminum piece of metal that the lower bracket mounts to. Keep the updates coming. Thanks, Bob in Idaho
Awesome old school build can’t wait to see when it’s done. New school trucks have dummy stacks or only 1 active this ol girl got 1 dummy air breather 😂😂
Yes, put the horns back on the roof cap but add two more with a total of 4. You cannot beat the old school cool Peterbilt 359s. I’d like to buy that truck from you guys if the price is right. Keep up the awesome work.
Glad you bought this truck Brian. Put the horns back on the cab. I forget the name of the gentleman that does the hand painting…. But you should get him back to some restoration. That would be cool.
Cool. Had an '86, but didn't have time or resources to play with it and sold it to a logger and he trashed it. Life happens and sometimes we really miss out.
Awesome Brian. I definitely would vote for roof horns, parking lights only on fender lights, put the directional lights on the mirrors in time era style. I need to swap my door hinges like you did. Kc
Glad you finally showed Butternut 👍🏻🙌🏼👊🏼🔧🔧🔧 I was there in August, been waiting to see it inside 😂😂😂😂. You can use armor conduit from Lowe’s on that headlight wiring 🔧🔧👊🏼🙌🏼 looking forward to more 🎥🎥
Put the horns back on for the classic look. And if your replacing the marker lights on the cab and adding them to the bottom of the bunk also add the lights to the top of the bunk for that old school broadway look
That’s a bad rig, can’t wait to see more videos on this one and see where it goes with the upgrades. Kind of reminds me of the truck on the old movie-Silent Thunder aka revenge on the highway
That really looks like a 359 I once owned. It was a short hood 380 cat 36 inch coffin sleeper 81 model. The man I sold it to stretched the frame and put a 63 inch bunk. Mine was yellow with a white frame
It’ll look awesome with the horns back on top. Beautiful 359.👍👍👍
Yes, horns on top, please! It'll look good with that sleeper.
Yes, it definitely needs the horns, and put the covers on the bells it keeps the bugs out so the horns work
I'd put 4 on it, the long Grovers that were an option on the earlier 379's.
The older the truck, the cooler it is to me. New trucks don't have the same badass attitude the old ones do.
70’s and 80’ are my favorite
Agreed. 359’s are the original badass.
Spotlights and horns 😎😎
GOT DAMN that looks better than every new truck out there!
4 horns on top !!! I remember seeing this truck around Richmond VA. Please keep old school love see at antique shows this year
Needs to remain old school the 359 was always my favorite model of Peterbilt its a beautiful truck
Old school with horns on the roof
As someone else said make the side markers both signal and Marker mix the old with new technology
Good job keeping the old trucks alive
Glad to see it
Well done
Good looking truck love 359s
Good to see a truck on here with functional stacks!!!
Love nostalgia when it comes to big rigs, the paint is really faded looking but maybe its my eyes... I am seventy five... old truckers never die..... wishful thinking
The paint definitely has a story to tell! It’s pretty faded and she has a few scuff marks here and there.

The plan is to keep it mostly old school. The Hogebuilt fenders are a must for this old girl.

Sweet old Pete! I had an 81 359 with a 3406 A Cat. 15 OD with 411 rears. I wish I still had her.
Beautiful old school 359 and I agree with putting the horns back on the roof. Gotta have the old school horns on the roof..

Older trucks have character u can’t buy
Damn straight.
Love the content!!! If you don’t put horns on top of the cab, put some authentic train horns on ‘er !!!
Brian
Good morning
No horns on the roof
Great video
Great truck thank you
WOW! Love this truck. I could just imagine what you guys could make this out to be. It would really look cool as a teal color but yet i like it like it is as a vintage look
We've definitely thought about different color schemes, but vintage does have its own charm.
Definitely needs horns put back on and it would be sweet to put the spot lights back on it
I'm very happy you bought it Brian! It definitely went to a good home. Those fuel tanks and half fenders will look good on it, too.
Hey how’re you doing?
Please put the big long Grover horns like it should have from the eighties. Thanks for saving her. Happy New Year.
Horns but put round to go with the age of the truck. Sharp old girl
Looks a lot nicer than a new style truck.
Excellent Video
Sweet old school ride.
Love to be the owner
11r24.5 all the way around the 359 will DEFINITELY be AWESOME & match
Once the chassis is redone & painted it will DEFINITELY be TOP NOTCH

Yes to the horns ( not only do they look old-school , they do sound a lot better )

Oh a real truck ❤

Yeah horns on the roof. Classic. Bruce Wilson tied up on the front bumper perfection.
Yes, put the horns back on the roof cap but add two more with a total of 4. You cannot beat the old school cool Peterbilt 359s. I’d like to buy that truck from you guys if the price is right. Keep up the awesome work.
Everything is for sale 😎

Yes horns. Good work!
Makin the fuel tanks longer of 200 gallons will DEFINITELY be AWESOME 2 match length of sleeper
Definitely put horns back on it! Classic!!
Glad you bought this truck Brian. Put the horns back on the cab. I forget the name of the gentleman that does the hand painting…. But you should get him back to some restoration. That would be cool.

Yeah, I’m a fan of putting the horns back on an 81. I’m jealous you got yourself a nice truck..👍
Stainless hinges are DEFINITELY a Gr8 Addition
Horns on keep it old school👍
Butter nut needs some
8" bull hauler stacks
4" cab panel's
Gotta put the ditch light back on her as well for the Ole school look
Very nice truck...old school !!! I say bags in the front also so you can drop her down...
Please put the horns back
It adds to the already great character of this this truck
Very nice find

Hi Brian, I'm going with horns on the roof. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do with the ole Pete
Horns on top old school looks good

That is a cool old 359.
The nicest thing is that it’s a classic but also there’s no DEF Tank!!! Yippee!!!
Shes a classic dont over do her she needs her horns it's a true survivor of a great age of truckin
Keep it old school.
Спасибо за видео и за вашу работу
Love old school truck. It should have respectable large airhorns.
Definitely OLD SCHOOL Horns for sure !!!!
Nice truck
Yes horns, very classic look.
Best rig so far !
❤❤❤❤😊thankyou
Horns! Cool truck!
Very cool project
Old school 80s look was horns, multiple horns on some with chrome horn covers .
Yes put the horns back on the roof. Plus drop the front down few inches wi some low pro 24.5’s. Killer truck !
Nice truck. Good job.
I like horns on the roof, in fact, I added an additional horn to my old Freightliner FLD because I like the balanced look.

Cool old truck. If you make the fender lights turn signals, you either need a turn/marker light or add another marker on front.
Cool Pete! 😎👍
This will be a neat project anxious to see how it progresses 👍🏽
Horns are a must
Put the horns back on for the classic look. And if your replacing the marker lights on the cab and adding them to the bottom of the bunk also add the lights to the top of the bunk for that old school broadway look
Yes, ol school horns would suit this ol rig, but the only thing I would do to it is, put a clear coat on it.
No horns! Clean and simple but makes a statement.
Awesome truck
Outstanding
Beautiful truck! I also purchased an 81 peterbilt shorthood, b model 400 cat, it's a lot rougher than yours but it has good bones!
I'd put the air horns back on I love that truck it's awesome my dad had a 81 Pete

Sweet truck!! I would leave the horns off the roof, way cleaner looking.Happy New Year!!
One sweet ride.
Horns would definitely look old school
The old 359 needs horns on the cab and spotlights on both sides turned backwards so you can see when backing up a trailer. totally old school.
Nice truck. The paint will probably buff out with some crystal shine glaze
❤❤❤Horns yes!!
