    The title should have been how to clean a barrel.

      um, some of my buddies who shoot thousands of rounds a year never clean their shotty's. So who cares? I once saw a video of professional shooters doing a "how to" video of how they clean their shot guns and basically all they did was shoot some Gun Scrubber down the barrel over a trash can. Boom done. Thank you! lol I think most guns will outlast us no matter how their cleaned.

      @@dgunearthed7859 your choice, but if I'm relying on a shotgun to protect me and my family, you bet I am taking the time to make sure it is cleaned, lubed, and functional

    Exactly. You didn’t clean the entire shotgun what about the ejection port?

    My hoppe’s kit didn’t come with a soft bore cleaner but everything else. What could I use besides that?

      You can use a rod with a patch on it and spray bore cleaner and run it just like he does in this video. Run a few patches through to make sure that there is no excess bore cleaner/ oil in your barrel

      I had the foaming bore cleaner

      The first "brush" he used to clean the barrel is more correctly called a bore mop. They are gauge/caliber specific so if you purchase one, be sure to get one matched to the gauge of your shotgun.

    I have a brand new Remington 870 field master I have only shot 7 target loads through it and I went to clean it and the patches keep on coming out a brown color and I let the break free clp set for about 25 minutes and I repeated this for 3 times and they are still coming out brown I used the bronze brush in between the patches and it doesent help but I looked inside the barrel with a bore light and it looks completely clean ?

    in the final step where you apply oil! You grabbed the Rem Oil in the first shot(@4:48), but in the second shot you had the orange bottle of something applying to the cloth(@4:50)! Was that Hoppe's Oil or ??? I was legitimately watching your technique and happened to notice that. Thank you for the video!

      It is Hoppe’s gun oil from the look of it

    Do I have to leave the choke on.

    • @mytheoryofmind
      @mytheoryofmind ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I take my choke out.

    • @PencilProper
      @PencilProper หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you should always leave the choke in as when scrubbing the bore you will put gunk and shit into the threads of where the choke screws in!
      Last thing you should do is AFTER youve cleaned and oiled the bore then you unscrew the choke, clean the threads on the choke and apply fresh gun oil and screw it back in. This keeps the threads inside the barrel clean and prevents the choke from ever getting stuck in.

    Thank you. I appreciate especially your clear measured American accent. So many of the how to clean a shotgun are from uk posters and I just can’t follow their English.

    Is bore cleaner just regular solvent with lube?

    Hello! Thank you for the great video. I have a question. Do you remove any excess oil from inside the barrel before using your shotgun? I read a few articles saying you shouldn't shoot the gun with oil in the barrel. I am trying to figure out if it is valid or simply being nit-picky.

    • @johnsmith-lx9lw
      @johnsmith-lx9lw ปีที่แล้ว

      No just put a lot of grease in the barrel so the shots slide out easy.

    • @dgunearthed7859

      don't listen to him....I personally use G96. It's a clp. So just make sure the inner or outter barrel isn't dripping in oil/clp, and you should be good to go. I think if you were to use HIS method, and you cleared the barrel of excess oil and then threw a bore snake through it with a "mist-ing" of G96 on it, you would protect the inner barrel until you use it and you would not need to clear the barrel. I mean it takes another 2 seconds to put something dry through the barrel before you shoot it and you're good to go. Don't over-think it friend. ;-)
