    Here are my additional tips:
    1. Keep a lean or minimal wardrobe. Fewer clothes cost less money.
    2. I figured out what I *needed.* I then figured out a few extra things I *wanted and liked.* The best "deal" in the world is a waste of money if I never wear the clothes (which is likely if I don't need or want/like them).
    3. Getting too many items of one type. I own a bomber jacket and a Harrington jacket. (I live in a warm climate.) If I bought a trucker jacket and a field jacket, it would just cut into the times that I wear one of my other casual jackets (the bomber and Harrington). That's a waste of money.
    4. I figured out what alterations my tailor can make, and asked how much she charges for those alterations. That way I can mentally add that amount to any purchase (that needs an alteration) to get the "true" cost.
    5. I also found some brands that fit me *perfectly,* so I can save on tailoring costs.
    6. When I'm buying used/preowned clothes, I'll look for reviews of *the brand* to see if they're quality and last well … or if they're trashy fast fashion.
    7. Since we're supposed to match our leathers and metals, I chose two colors of leather and one color of metal for my accessories (shoes, belt, belt buckle, watch, watch strap, etc.). That allows me to cover my bases with fewer purchases.
    8. I purchased quick-release watch straps for my watches, allowing greater interchangeability between my watches and my outfits. (Watch straps tend to be much cheaper than watches.)
    9. My most frequently worn accessories are eyeglasses. Therefore, I wrote down my prescription from my optometrist, *including my pupil distance* (which they rarely give), then purchased a few less expensive pairs of glasses from Zenni. Now I can match my glasses to my outfit, and I have spares if a pair gets broken.
    10. There are guidelines regarding which color pants work with which color shoes. (Antonio has a chart over at the RMRS website). I consult with it before buying shoes or pants, in order to ensure my new purchases interchangeably follow those guidelines with my existing pants/shoes.

I agree with everything except for the Bruno Marc shoes. One is better buying second hand, real leather shoes made in Europe or the USA on eBay or in a thrift store, than buying Asian sweatshop made Bruno Marc.

Found a Tommy Hilfiger sports coat at Salvation Army for $8 with the $550 tag from Nordstrom's still on it. Also found a Brooks Bros Tweed (retail $700) and a pair of vintage Ferragamo Oxford shoes (value about $1200) for $6 each. Estate sales in wealthy neighborhoods are great also, especially for ties.

Estate sales, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc can be excellent resources for name brand and high end clothing, especially suits, sports coats, shoes and ties. When people pass or go into retirement homes, the family will often donate the clothes or have an estate sale which focuses on the high dollar hard goods and furnishings.

I'm noticing that classic menswear is coming down a bit in price. If you go out shopping regularly you can find great buys in good men's pants, jackets etc. I've seen nice sport coats for $99 and good dress pants for $40, so no excuse any more for those who think this type of clothing is expensive.

Great content as always. Shoes are something I do spend more on. Many moons ago I worked in a men’s shoe department in a retailer up here in Canada. It was a part time job so I wasn’t an Al Bundy, but I learn good shoes last and leather souled ones can be resoled . Thrift stores are great. There are places that sell high end suits for half the price.

Off-season is always a bit of a gamble, as there's no guarantee one's sizes are still available, but it can lead to very good deals. Got a pair of goodyear welted, pebble grain captoe boots that went for 360 orginally for a measily 160 bucks in clearance. BUT it was the last pair.

Couple other suggestions would be to try on many different brands and see which fit you best and which size you are in that brand. That way you can take advantage of online retailer sale prices as you already know what fits you. Sign up for that brand's email notifications too. Case in point...my favorite jeans are Paige, which can be pricey but because I know exactly which fit and size I am and sign up for their emails, last week I received their 40% off email so I checked what they had in my size and purchased immediately. Saved $130 and didn't have to hesitate based on not knowing whether or not they will fit.

I think the best tip in this video is thrifting. Most of my wardrobe is thrifted these days, but then again, I'm lucky enough to have great thrift stores in my area. And don't sleep on thrifting shoes as well. Shoes are made to last more than clothing, so you can get some serious bargains that you can wear for years.
One more tip I would give is, if you're gonna shop for new clothes, to never shop in person. If you're looking for value, you'll never find the best price in a physical store. Shop online instead.

The problem I often encountered with thrifting shoes is that they're almost never taken care of properly (no shoe trees, no dusting off, no quick polish) by the stores, so by the time someone picks them from the store, they're often ruined beyond remedy. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I have yet to find them.

Sale racks are a great way to pick up great items at a fraction of the price. Whenever I find great buys on the sale rack, I try to buy at least one regularly priced item to support the store. Online competition and Covid have presented hard times to brick and morter retail. Throw them a bone when you can.

Yeah, I’ve talked about this quite a bit in terms of contrast and carrying extra weight. Dark colors, top, and light colors on the bottom can help visually balance your proportions. Light colors are bulking, so try to avoid light colors where you don’t want to add bulk.

When you upgrade your wardrobe, there are two things you should be prepared for:
The smiles and approving looks from women and...
The dirty looks you WILL get from other guys wearing hoodies. Other men will automatically hate you and there's a sense of satisfaction in that.
