You nail it!! I'm 58 and can wear what i want. When i was in town i look around, not the teens, but the 30 years old men are good for "studies"..... what looks great on them, is good for me
Albert Manuel You’re right. I used to buy expensive clothes and not know why nothing looked good on me. So I stoped wasting money on clothes and was honest with myself about my weight and decided to concentrate of getting fit. Now I’m 54 and look even better than when I was 34 with a HM t-shirt and jeans. Go for it Albert. Change your lifestyle and make everything about eating well and getting regular exercise.Make it a big part of your life and not just squeeze in a run or a gym session whenever you can. You won’t look back.
Nothing looks worse than a well fitted piece of apparel on a guy with a beer gut. Agree wholeheartedly. Age doesn't matter if you keep yourself in shape.
I'm 54 (will be 55 later in the year) and I absolutely LOVED your advice on; "Classing it up!" Wow! I told my wife that coming into 2020 that I was going to change up my wardrobe. I found you guys and a few others here on the tube and my "eye" for fashion and being "stylish" has changed considerably! Thanks!
I am recently divorced after 25 years and I am 55 years old. I used to dress nice when I was younger but now that's downgraded to sandals and sneakers, blue jeans, cargo shorts and black concert tees. After watching your videos I went out and bought myself some dress boots chino pants in different colors collared shirts long sleeve and short. I look and feel much better. I actually caught a couple of girls staring at me. my confidence level is sky-high. And shopping has become fun. Thank you so so much.
I'm 62 work as a person trainer and am in good shape .I agree with everything you said ! I don't wear Anything unless it fits good especially suits! I threw away all pleated slacks four years ago and now wear only plain front slacks that fit .I feel and look like I'm much younger in part because my clothes look like they are tailored just for me and they are!! Thanks for your good advice ! Especially non footwear !
They're basically saying if you're 40+ you look like shit, and in light of that you should wear clothing that makes people think you're wealthy and powerful.
The advice you're giving equally applies to the under 40s as well as the over 40s. Im 56 and ive always been a sneaker guy and that wont change. I also love wool overcoats and that has been the case for 30 years. Ripped jeans ive never worn. I also have a liking for formal shoes oxfords derbys and single/double monk straps. I live in the UK and I would suggest the style rules (if there is such a thing) is a lot more 'varied' than the states possibly.
Chino's give the lower half of my body a V-shape, the material is always too thin and has a draping effect. Jeans give the lower half a straight down look, overall better. At 5'11, 32-33 waist, how much should a good pair of chinos be and when should I give up because my body type may not work with them?
charles.d - artpipe TX my measures exactly, I know what you mean. I tend to keep my shirts untucked so that helps a little. Also there’s a regular fit chinos that fit better than the slim or skinny fit, but it’s still an ongoing quest for me. Some day I hope to get the magic formula right. Keep experimenting and contrast colors of your chinos with your shirts or t-shirts.
I am turning 43 but people still think I am in my late 20s or early 30s and if I dress what men in their 40s, I look like I am wearing my dad's clothes...
I am so glad that Dorian is looking better ( slowly ). Hope the recovery continues to go well. Saw an old video Feb 2019, hope he gets to look like that soon. And love Ashley's hair colors. My fave would be the cool rose tone from some time ago.
Love this channel. And as a slightly older guy this content was especially welcome. Maybe you could do a bit more on this subject. Keep up the great work guys.
It really doesn't matter what you wear as long as you carry yourself appropriately and with confidence. I can put something on from Nordstroms or Walmart and make them both look good by the way I carry myself.
I was well into my 40s when I decided to dress well. To any guy who need's to see what happens when you dress well. I went into a bar in my hometown wearing a leather biker jacket and jeans and the barman said " Yes Mate what can I get you "(I'm English hence the mate reference). One day later I went into the same bar wearing a suit and the same barman said. "Yes sir , can I help you". Says it all.
Excellent points, and as a mature gentleman, I have the courage and wisdom to class it up just a bit when I am in the public. I always get positive feedback appropriate to my age. Thank you for putting these points out there.
Great video...i fully support your comments. I also believe,as an older man, that by a certain age, you should know what colors, textures and fabrics best suit your complexion and build.
It's funny that most of the photos in these videos show men in their late 50s or more like in their 60s. Most of us in our early 40s still don't have fully grey beard or wrinkles even. There are tons of cool things to wear over 40 instead of the lame bomber jackets, business shirts, polo shirts and cardigans. Wear what makes you feel comfortable yet mature. (OK no more T-shirts with stupid logos, we can agree on that one.) Over 40 staying in shape is much more important than the perfect wardrobe IMHO.
In the sense of dress, their is a big difference between 41 and 48, and using the term older makes a man feel like a senior citizens, men in their 40s are not grandpas by no way.
Hell, I’m 72 look 60 and have never been a fashion follower. I’m a blazer and relaxed trousers guy. Add a solid color button down collar shirt and that’s me.
The issue with this video and any video offering style advice for us in our 40’s, 50’s etc Is the examples are on people in perfect shape. Ryan Reynolds types. Which is a great reminder to focus on being in shape #1, but it would be great to see suggestions that may be helpful for us who aren’t in perfect shape. What outfits are flattering for imperfect body shapes etc.
Im 58 ,1 year ago I decided to lose weight and do something about the way I looked .So i didnt quite reach my goal of 1kg for every year of my life but lost 53kg ! [ [130lbs ? ] this charming couple and my girls helped immensely, got my strut back !
I'm 45 and one thing us well seasoned gents need to stay away from is neon anything especially if you are going salt and pepper. One thing we should run too is mono tone styling .We pull that off proper.
You should do a summer video. Live in south texas and it’s been over 100° for the past few weeks and the nights are in the mid 90s. Sometimes I run out of ideas
This is great advice when your 6 foot tall, weigh 180 Lb, and live in the city. What about some advice for the shorter, heavier gent who lives an active outdoor life. I cant be wearing dress shoes, and a fitted jacket when I am heading out for a 4-6 hour hike in the mountains of the Pacific North West ... Looking for more appropriate advice for a 5'7", 190Lb, active outdoors lifestyle.
As an older guy at 61 I agree completely. At retirement I began to wear chinos, sport coats, turtlenecks, open collar shirts, loafers, brogues, and derby dress shoes instead of sneakers. I'm constantly getting compliments such as looking dapper, distinguished, classic, and well dressed. People are more respectful, show greater courtesy, and even the doctors I visit listen more and consider my opinions with greater thought. As you and other commenters have said/written there is nothing more ridiculous than a 60 year old man trying to look 18. Yes, I know you can wear what you want and not care what others think but that means you must too not consider how you will be treated by them in turn. Most people want to be respected. Why not dress in a manor that allows such respect be given easily? Final thought. Being retired and on a fixed income I purchase most of my clothing from thrifts or factory outlet stores. All were were seldom or never worn. Why spend $350 for a sport coat when one with tags still on it can be found for $15?
I’m 49 soon to be 50 next month. Would love to see more styles for men my age. Especially how to pair dress boots for Fall and Winter, how to wear blazers, when to wear a suit, can we wear v neck sweaters with a no show undershirt. Etc.
I'm over 40 and I love the word you used to describe how we should look...."distinguished." I totally agree with you. There is another style vlogger out there who clearly is well over 40. He's probably close to 50 because I see the age in his skin, which is ironic because he's trying to sell a mens skin care line, trying to convince everyone who great and "simple" it is. Again, I like that word "distinguished" because of our "experience." I will try to go with clothes with a little modern edge to it, but for the most part, my style is a little more in the "timeless classic" relm.
I'm 51 and put more thought and effort into what I wear now more than ever in my life. I would say that I have always paid attention to what I wore and took pride in being somewhat of a snappy dresser for lack of a better term but much to my surprise I'm having more fun with it than I ever have. I always hated shopping but I did it anyway and nowadays it's much more convenient to do it online when I can, and know something will fit properly. There is definitely a fine line IMHO about what you can get away with at my age but if you nail it I think its pretty damn cool.
I really appreciate this kind of advice. I've been pleasantly surprised how positively people in general react or behave toward me when I dress in a more classic manner. Jeans, tennis shoes and t-shirts are now for fishing these days!
That is pretty close to how I dress, despite that I'm only 22. It helps a ton when you need people to take you seriously, especially since I look like I'm about 17 :)
As we mature we should be able to distinguish what apparel is appropriate for what time or what event. If you keep yourself in good condition as we age then we can wear whatever the hell we want to. Age is of no consequence. Dress for your body type and your lifestyle would be far more appropriate than interjecting age into the conversation.
I see the point about shorts, but if you live somewhere where it’s 110-120 degrees outside… pants are just too hot. Is there a better way to make it work?
Somewhat disagree. I'm 48 and an active musician. I stand on the side that the same fashion rules don't always apply. Now that doesn't mean I dress like a 20 something year old, but most of the fashion advice doesn't suit my personality or lifestyle, outside of my job. I work in a professional environment ( engineering firm) so try to dress the part. I agree that older gentlemen should definitely class it up but for the most part, some of your advice comes off very vanilla and boring. I feel the best advice to older guys, stay in shape and you can dress to your liking and personality.
I'm over 50, in shape, all my hair.... my standard is more, what the goodlooking 30 years old wear. They are still in touch with fashion and timespirit. But you have to have taste..... I like it not too formal. Definitely no desk clerk style. By the way, the first of your older guys with the tattoos IS cool... the second a dork...
I’m a youthful 52 now. I’m aging great because I took care of myself. I’m In that middle area where I don’t want to look like my teenage son and I certainly don’t want to look like a senior citizen! This Ashley Weston has really helped me define a good middle ground look that my wife has really noticed looks good for me. Thanks Ashley!!
That clothing is fine for cooler climates or seasons, but what of you are in the heat for most of the year? Please create a separate video for summer wear or hot climates.
Question...I have white motorcycle jacket - short waist, long in the sleeve with a thin red and blue stripe that goes around arms and across the chest. It was given to me as a gift from my father (no longer here), I'm uncertain "how to wear" this out or...do I want to wear this out? Should I just give the coat away? I am 47
I don't see anything wrong with a classy V neck sweater. My signature look for years, even decades, has been a basic black V neck with a white T shirt underneath to accentuate it. And I don't think it looks out of place now that I am 45.
I will be 39 years old in 6 months in decent shape and still look fairly young so I dress how I want sometimes in our teens and in our 20's a lot of the clothes we like and wanted we couldn't afford until we got older in our 30's and 40's so the key is confidence and to be happy
One problem I run into is big and tall clothing is mostly big. Most of the places I go are very laid back. A few shirts meant for the work place do fit me but places that sell casual clothing might have one item of 300 that actually fits me. A tall sized sweater is like finding a unicorn. To be honest, I find most of my dates wearing a Tshirt with holes burned into it or a flannel/denim shirt. A Harley helps me more than any clothing item.
I like the emphasis on classing it up. Most of the time (when I’m not riding my motorcycle) I like the classic slacks and Bill Blass navy blazer. BTW I’m almost 75
Another great video from AWxInc. So I pitched all my suits when I retired and want to get a sport coat for casual wear. Everything I see looks really short to me. Used to be we expected coats to come to the first knuckle. What is the current fashion in men's wear?
I just recently watched 'Road House ' 2024, and I liked Jake Gyllenhaal's style on that movie: Hawaiian shirt (Jake said on an interview that they are custom-nade), dark jeans and classic pair of boots. He's 43.
Great smart advice I agree with everything you guys suggested for older guys. Dorian is almost 40? Wow he looks way younger than that you are aging good bro.
I'm 48 years old man, living in Asia. Can i wear striped rugby t'shirt or long sleeve striped t-shirt from good fabric? I feel great and confident when wearing it instead of polo t-shirt
Just wear whatever you feel like wearing, when you are at that age you don’t need to impress anyone. Don’t need to wear a fucking suit If you’re just going to The zoo with your kid or grandkid!
Have you guys done a video on what to say when you go to a tailors? I’ve been wanting to go get some clothes tailored because I have to “Nail the fit” but I’m afraid of sounding like an idiot.

I’m 48. The best advice I can give is to stay in shape. You can wear just about anything you want.
Albert Manuel Can confirm. I lost weight simply because I wanted to dress better and being slimmer makes it a lot easier.
You nail it!! I'm 58 and can wear what i want. When i was in town i look around, not the teens, but the 30 years old men are good for "studies"..... what looks great on them, is good for me
Great comment! I'm 40 and can wear anything because I'm in better shape than most 25 year olds...
Albert Manuel You’re right. I used to buy expensive clothes and not know why nothing looked good on me. This Guy
Look good, feel good. I'm happy for you, get out there and keepm living well
👍
This video is spot on!!! I am 66 years old and do my best to dress well with properly fitted clothes. It says a lot about the individual.
Dress the way you like. That's all!
It's all about the fit!
It’s taken me 12 years of incredibly hard labor to get into good shape. now that I’m 65 it’s nice to know how I might dress. Thanks this helps
Once I got old I started wearing all those awesome metal gradient sun glasses I've always wanted.
I'm 62 work as a person trainer and am in good shape .I agree with everything you said ! I don't wear Anything unless it fits good especially suits! Guys…60 is the new 40!
The best is yet to come.
Keep it classy!

I’m approaching 63,also from the uk.I agree quality shoes, dark denim, cardigans, chinos look great if we’ll fitted.more quality than quantity.
Yeah, I'm 43 and I'm starting to dress my age, and more fitted. But I will still wear the printed Star Wars shirt once in awhile...lol
pervert
The guy at 1:12 looks cool to me.
chiefs816kc I was thinking the same thing
Agreed
yeah he have f*king awesome style...
Facts
Xactly. So I don't put any confidence in those guys ---
I dress however, whatever I want, this is my life and my fashion! Thhhhhats It!
My favourite jacket is Harris Tweed, 350-400 GBP new, 90-100 GBP pre-owned on ebay

I'm 43 wear boots, jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts and thanks god lots of girls for me.

Your advice is the same for everyone. It’s insane tbh. All your videos have the same message.
Love this channel.
And as a slightly older guy this content was especially welcome.
Maybe you could do a bit more on this subject.
Keep up the great work guys.
Slightly?
It really doesn't matter what you wear as long as you carry yourself appropriately and with confidence. I can put something on from Nordstroms or Walmart and make them both look good by the way I carry myself.
I was well into my 40s when I decided to dress well. To any guy who need's to see what happens when you dress well. Exactly.
I love this video am 45 yo and I am so glad to find you guys ... your tips are gold. I will keep in touch! Thank you. Oz
My whole life buying denim jeans 34 W 32 L. After going through your jean fit guide turns out I'm a 30 W 29 L and they look awesome on me. Thanks guys
Tom Ford is a perfect example to strive for. Look at what he wears in his 50s, and how the clothing fits.
of course! but those are not cheap!!!
Excellent points, and as a mature gentleman, I have the courage and wisdom to class it up just a bit when I am in the public. I always get positive feedback appropriate to my age. Thank you for putting these points out there.
Wear whatever you’re comfortable with !
Im 36 and i still wear baggy clothes! Im stuck in the 90s
Great video...i fully support your comments. I also believe,as an older man, that by a certain age, you should know what colors, textures and fabrics best suit your complexion and build.

I'm 45 and one thing us well seasoned gents need to stay away from is neon anything especially if you are going salt and pepper. One thing we should run too is mono tone styling .We pull that off proper.
Really appreciate your videos. Makes a change from all those “alpha male” youtube channels that not every man will relate to. Keep it up.
Yes! Thank you from an older than 40 gentleman.
You should do a summer video. Live in south texas and it’s been over 100° for the past few weeks and the nights are in the mid 90s. Sometimes I run out of ideas

Hi Dorian, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think your undershirt collar should be showing below your crew neck sweater
You're getting that rule confused with vneck sweaters. Okay with crewnecks, bad with vnecks.
Any clothing/fashion tips during summer or when you reside in tropical countries? Will highly appreciate it.

Ur old now lol
I see the point about shorts, but if you live somewhere where it’s 110-120 degrees outside… pants are just too hot. Is there a better way to make it work?
What about gray colored jeans for men over 40? Yes or no?
Just transferred the dressing
Does that also apply to men over 60
Yes!

People should dress however they want I wear urban wear sometimes I wear suits etc

I will be 39 years old in 6 months in decent shape and still look fairly young so I dress how I want sometimes in our teens and in our 20's a lot of the clothes we like and wanted we couldn't afford until we got older in our 30's and 40's so the key is confidence and to be happy
Hey, as long as the person feels good and confident, let them be. You are making fun of how “older” men dress and that’s not cool.
Can I eear my nike air jordans? Or all my hi top sneakers?
Please do a topic on how to dress up for men over 40s here in a tropical country. Thanks.
Where can I go buy a pair of penny Loafers??
I like the emphasis on classing it up. Most of the time (when I’m not riding my motorcycle) I like the classic slacks and Bill Blass navy blazer. BTW I’m almost 75
Another great video from AWxInc. So I pitched all my suits when I retired and want to get a sport coat for casual wear. Everything I see looks really short to me. Used to be we expected coats to come to the first knuckle. What is the current fashion in men's wear?
Wear what you want
I like your glasses. Where did you get them?
I’m 43 and 5’6 and chubby body. Any advice please?
thanks you guys it was very helpful
I just recently watched 'Road House ' 2024, and I liked Jake Gyllenhaal's style on that movie: Hawaiian shirt (Jake said on an interview that they are custom-nade), dark jeans and classic pair of boots. He's 43.
Love that music! What is it?
Dress like the Daddy she wants you to be! 💯
Sorry, but only EVER wear a rugby shirt to play rugby. Terrible style choice for any man, any age, seriously, looks shit. Ask any woman.
I agree
Basically never wear sneakers and always dress like you're going to the office 🙃😒 comeon
Do a top mens top pick of Cologne for Spring and summer 2020
Please turn the music down a little. It is very taxing.
Yes... C'mon class it up
Can you please give us some examples of clothing stores that you recommend for men 40+ to go shopping?
I like bonobos clothing line
Just wear whatever you feel like wearing, when you are at that age you don’t need to impress anyone. Don’t need to wear a fucking suit
If you’re just going to The zoo with your kid or grandkid!
Looking good Dorian!! You complexion is back to normal, glad to see you getting back to your old self. Stay healthy my friend👍🏽👍🏽
Have you guys done a video on what to say when you go to a tailors? I’ve been wanting to go get some clothes tailored because I have to “Nail the fit” but I’m afraid of sounding like an idiot.
The bark at 6:43 is hilarious 😂
