- Unboxing the brand new Zoomer Playful Pup! This bot is not fully released at the time of posting, but is expected to show up in stores very soon and is available from some online retailers at the moment. I had trouble finding videos of this robot aside from the ones at Toy Fair, so hopefully this is helpful to some people! I want to note that I missed the quick start guide which was hidden in the cardboard of the box, along with a note about potential leg issues.

He's just overjoyed, happy and hyper to get out of that confining box. That's why he's so exuberant.

Oooookay? He is very inthusistic as you said. I like how responsive he is. The interaction feels more like a real dog than a robot in that you don’t have to capture him and hold his head to get him to listen like the old Zoomer. I never could get my.Zoomer to dance. He just sort of... bounced happily up and down and panted. Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of this guy. Oh and if he had trouble on your wooden floor he’d have no hope on carpet which might be a drawback for some owners.
I'm very impressed with the voice commands on this model and was able to teach him his name easily, but this model doesn't move around much at all unfortunately. He mostly wiggles in place and tries to jump/bounce to move backward and forward, but falls over half the time he tries. I think he might do a little better on a low pile carpet since he actually seemed to be slipping on the hardwood a bit, but I don't see this bot as having a huge amount of longevity given how rough he is on his legs.
retrotoylover 2012 Huh? This bot isn’t an Aibo at all. It’s the newest Zoomer which is a toy ment for younger kids. I do however agree with you about the newAibo not being programmable. I suppose if you wanted to program an Aibo 1000, Sony will probably make a skill store for it kind of like the skill store for Amazon’s Echo devices. Who knows? They might take suggestions from users and then allow you to purchase new tricks? I honestly don’t know. I don’t like the new Aibo’s cloud-dependent updating system. Give me a nice functioning Aibo 210 with multiple memory and PMS sticks loaded with AiboPet’s goodness any day.

It looks cute but the way it is bucking and slamming itself around it looks like it is trying to break itself. I don't think the motors and mechanisms will hold up to such constant abuse.
Better have plenty of superglue and duct tape on hand...sounds like it's going to fall apart at any minute.
If you want a cheap AIBO, I definitely don't recommend this, he's just insane, I recommend a Poo-Chi or Chip.

I had the normal Zoomer, it broke its leg within a week (I was being really careful with it too!) then stopped working super fast. Mainly a piece of junk.

i’ve had mine for 2 years, i left him in a pile of junk then i managed to find him, i charged him and surprisingly he still works

With all of the hyperness, I bet the battery doesn't last very long. Also, let's stop comparing this to an Aibo. There just isn't anything to compare. The first Aibo was $2500.00. This is $100.00. So, what's to compare? Did you really expect a $100.00 dollar toy to do what a $2500.00 toy could do? Honestly, through a manufacturer's perspective, this is actually not enough money for the technology that went into the design and manufacturing of Zoomer. Sure, as a consumer, it isn't worth this much. It doesn't do what people want/expect it to do.
I sure hope they made some really good plastic joints and legs. With all of that bouncing around, it sure looks like there isn't much longevity in those legs. Hence the note, "......along with a note about potential leg issues.".
