- Sony sent us an AIBO ERS-1000 robot dog! Always wanted one as a kid & now Jon & I get some time to review it! Galaxy S10e cameras FILMED THIS! We were BLOWN AWAY by the AIBO! He is so realistic that we forgot he wasn't real! Check him out! He develops and matures over time to become a unique dog, a product of his experiences!

So aibo has improved the movements dramatically since its first intro. Can’t wait for the version that becomes so lifelike that there becomes a whole movement owning one. Maybe in 20 years?

Fun fact from an animal nurse: real dogs and cats have been studied to like pink the best too! It's suspected it's because it's the color they can see the brightest with their dulled down color vision!
That's really cool! I've noticed that my cat does fight my pink stuffed animals more than the rest. Same goes with his toys, that's really interesting

I wish new aibos will eventually recive features of the old ones like PCMCIA expansion (which was used to connect it to WLAN so you could run software of pc), modular components and interchangeable firmware.
This is incredible! I remember seeing this in a magazine as a kid, and begged my parents for one for Christmas! Makes me think about what Sony could do if they made a full size dog like the Boston Dynamics spot robot.

I used to have one like this back when I was 8 years old but the technology was obviously not as advanced so it was very much like a robot and not so realistic but god i loved that dog, she was my first and only dog ever and I kind of want to get one of these!

The only thing I dont really like is how slow he is with his movement and when he is answering an order.
I dont think it would be able to be quicker, dogs had devolped fast instincts for a long time while this is programmed to try to just not fall over, its not for speed.

@@destiny8967 think about the cost of an actual pet though. Vaccinations/medical costs, food, harness, toys, bed, and the actual cost of the pet. A one time payment of 3000 for kids who can't have an actual pet really isnt that bad
@@aldnn350 youre right but personally i would buy my kid or me a real dog just cause it teaches them a lot of responsibility and i am a studying zoologist so i think it is worth it. Personally tho thats what i would do.

I was referring to kids who literally cannot have a pet, whether it be due to allergies or other factors and how this would be a great alternative. Yes it's expensive, and doesnt have the same type of emotional response, but I think it's a good idea
@@aldnn350 yeah I agree it can be good but there are also other pets with no allergies and hypoallergenic dogs. Plus if your child has a mental disorder a hypoallergenic therapy dog would be great for them to build those social interactions better. I think if this robot dog was cheaper it would be a good toy but since it is so expensive it is clearly trying to be a dog replacement which i think yes it can be good for some who just dont have time to take care of a dog.

I agree, I don't think I could ever trust a robot. That's why no matter how hard companies try to shove "smart" tv's, alexa, etc I don't own any of them and go out of my way to avoid them and fully disable anything similar. My private life isn't for sale.

Not really, you need to give things a long time to settle and for people to relax and get to the acceptance part of guilt. Believe me it's happened to my family (for both cat and dog (different years apart)), it takes a long time, for the cat it was about a year. For our dog, it is still going.
This is perfect for a child who wants a dog to learn responsibility before actually giving him a dog

@@hanac5586 Have you seen the movie A-X-L? That's exactly what they did in that movie. But the robot dog is giant and made for the military, not for kids or people with allergies. Somehow though, the A-X-L is still adorable. Like a giant puppy.

the body is about $2,000 for a reason (taking this from japanese prices, where you're able to purchase just the body and a month of service), a walmart toy wouldn't have anywhere near the sophistication with all the censors, joint capabilities, cameras, ai, etc etc.
Oh it will in the future, do you know how many people a robo dog would benefit? Obviously real dogs won't become obsolete but this could definitely replace one soon
