Regarding the weight, not sure how all websites have this wrong. I weighed this several times and my scale is accurate. I hope my scale is not on the fritz! I've covered many 15" laptops and I have developed a "feel" for the weight too.
Not sure what to think about the keyboard. It just felt cheap to type on if that makes any sense and the trackpad wasn't any better. Otherwise, I dig it as a gaming laptop but not sure if I would want to type on this all day.
There's two keyboard RGB solutions. Single zone for 3.5 zones like this model. 3 zones for the keyboard and 1 for the WASD keys in case you were wondering.
While I do have a connection at HP to get review units, the wait to get one was 4-6 weeks out and that's only if i'm sent one first which is rarely the case. Buying laptops for review isn't an ideal way for a small channel like mine and I risk a lot doing so. Buy, review and sell at a loss isn't a smart business decision so hopefully you'll appreciate this as I've been on TH-cam for about 4 years now.
I cannot recommend an 8gb model in 2020 and for another $100 you can get 16gb. Now we're getting into a territory that questions the overall value on this laptop compared to the competition today and the near future. But, I definitely like this laptop and it'll be interesting to see what the bigger channels think of it too :)
Those interested in a comparison between the Matrix RP and this OMEN, please realize I no longer have the Matrix as it was a review unit and this OMEN will be gone before you know to move the channel along. I'd love to have a few dozen laptops on-hand for content like this but I cannot afford to do so.

Afaik you're the first English channel to review this laptop and the a15 as well, and this is huge. You cover every aspect of the laptops and give thorough review of all aspects of the laptops, with all of their pros and cons, excluding nothing even the smallest detail.

@@BobOfAllTrades I think TH-cam doesn't like short videos, so it is not promoting your videos. Make at least 10 mins with more details and use timestamps, you can get millions of subscribers.

@@tanker242 would you say that the thermals are better than the bulkier 2019 model? Apparently that one is a toaster and the only way yo use it is by undervolting. Have you undervolted yours or you don't feel the need to so as the thermals are already good?

Sagaris Music.id it could be due to agreements with intel for example, some of the decisions to put max rtx 2060 on amd. However, the closed fans is very suspicious doesn’t make sense at all. Asus said it’s because it helps the pc breaths betters, absolute bullshit as all reviewers are saying and people that have the laptop. Give me a break asus

@@rafael6693 Are you stupid? ASUS is just bad in thermals. I bought so many ASUS DCU/StriX GPUs for so many years and they are hotter than the competition while being bigger and fatter. I mean WTF. ASUS will spend more of their money making a laptop look good for young gamers instead of making it functional. They've been like this in many years...they are only good with motherboards

Its now for $949 on eBay, sick deal!!! Ps I've seen many vids stating lower sRGB around 94%
That 8gb of ram is just an insult at $1249. Would love a more detailed review though.
If ryzen cpu can be paired with a gpu stronger than my 1070 then I defo will buy :).

The new brand aesthetic for Omen is a huge improvement and one of the best in the industry now in my opinion
2 questions:
How is the build quality? (screen and keyboard flex).
Does the right exhaust hit your mouse hand?

This laptop arrived for me yesterday in the UK. 16GB with I7-10750H and RTX2070 Max Q. The right exhaust air will be felt on your mouse hand if you use your mouse in very close proximity to the vent. However, its not enough to bother me and its cool rather than hot air. He is right about the thermals, they are insane.
I wonder what it is that makes the thermals so good. The thermal solution doesn't look so much different to other laptops.
@@sebastianp4023 the laptop has some heft to it. The fans are 12v, so they sound like a high pitched jet engine at full blast if you so choose. It has a really nice HSF design with 3 i takes and 3 exhausts.
@@sebastianp4023The proportions of the fans may make them look small but if you compare the size of them to almost any other laptop they will look absolutely massive.
I heard that it flexes pretty bad. Would like to hear from actual useres though

I was about to post my unboxing last night, but then my editor decided corrupt my project somehow.
If anyone is curious I have the EN-0023DX, and im still deciding if the build quality is worth the MSRP premium vs the other options. I definately like the cooling solution this laptop has. The only problems I get are probably nivida optimus related.

I am still going with RP 15. It has 16gb memory and a boosted RTX 2060 which performs similar to 2070 max q. It's lighter with similar thermals too. The only thing this HP is better at is webcam placement and a little better battery.
@@ishneetbhatia3070 for some reason the eluktronics boosted 2060 performs the same as the regular version in other machines, strange no? Well according to notebook check review numbers they posted at least.

Great review, Bob! How’s the portability of the laptop? I’m having a hard time choosing between this and the g14 for a college laptop.
The G14 runs hotter, & has soldered RAM. If you're considering this, it is as he said, the HP Omen (Ok 4.6, as per Bob, doesn't match HP's site) vs the Eluktronics RP 15 (4.2 pounds, maybe a little more with the larger battery, but under 5 pounds). I generally avoid HP, but they slayed the thermals and the bench, so good on them.
Just a heads up, this Omen is 4.6lbs weighed several times along with a few other laptops on hand because it was much lighter than what was posted online. Perhaps they’re using their previous Omen as a weight reference.
It felt about as heavy as the MAG 15 and weighed only slightly more.

A performance laptop done right. The way those PCIe slots are neatly laid out on either sides of the battery is just wow!
i would prefer they're on top and leave room for a bigger battery personally..
