I'm amazed it works at all with all the dirt and crap on it. Nothing like keeping it clean and well oiled.

I understand Sorry if not found the Phosphorus Bronze . Now you have second choice, any quality of Bronze you found Machining the shape and threading the nuts ,done.
Take a pill recipient steel better 🪣 ,fill up whit oil new or old (🚙 From car oil change)🛻. Then heating the oil to temperature boiling ♨the immerse the bronze nuts ,live at least 1/2 hrs.
The material bronze will absorb the oil like foam ,and remain lubricate the nuts for long time.
Another choice manufacturing the nuts ACME -SQUARE thread from CAST IRON ( fundici`on gris ) THE material have carbon and lubricate with oil or grease .
Note of detail you have a good Lathe because it old that mind the casting are good plus has double prism all the way in the bead, good machine for Boring hole . Greeting from Argentina -Canada❤🧉⚽🌗🛠🔎

Greeting from CANADA.🧉⚽🛠🔎
