That filing vise gets me every time I see it. Must be old as currently unobtainum. Don't know if it matters but I like to file my drags the same direction as I file the tooth.

Inside to outside is correct in my book. Probably went both ways for camera access. Thank for the comment.

That vise I’ve had since 1987 I think.

I would think that you’d address the fact of static vs dynamic depth gauge filing styles as well. With static you’re effectively cutting the DG’s down below the .25 , both in the grabbyness of the chain and not to mention how hard that can be on the saws bearings. But you don’t have that issue with your preffefed Husqvarna style like like you do with the Oregon style. Just thought that I’d mention it.😁

Never heard it as static or dynamic. Not sure I totally understand your hypothesis or theory.... you should tell me more.

The cutters “rock” as they are going INTO cutting cutting action. That’s why when you do a simple DG drop for all of them then as they (cutter) wear (get sharpened) it causes them to act like they have been dropped .080” but really only .025”. That’s the drescription is static.
Dynamic is what the Husqvarna does is, tailor each DG to its particular cutter.

@@ToddAdams1234 that’s what I’ve always understood but you explained it a better way. Thanks!

It’s still a good learning video, it’s just that people need to know this stuff. 🤷‍♂️😁
