    If you want a challenge, try assembling one of these grills th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I am a technician by trade and the technical instructions were easy to follow. No reading, just pictures and diagrams. You assemble everything in 5 steps from the bottom up. Step #1 - Assemble 4 Legs and Wheels; Step #2 - Add the Front Cover and Cross Bars to support the frame; Step #3- Assemble the Burner to the Lower Grill Housing and install the knobs; Step #4 - Install the Side Burner and side shelf; and Finally Step #5 - Install the Upper Char- Broil Lid, Cooking Racks, 3 Burner Railings and Lid Handle. That's It and you're done in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. You have the option to pay for assembly after making the purchase - I would strongly suggest that you take it if you don't want to be bothered with this challenge. The only tool I used was a Phillips head screwdriver and a standard pair of pliers. The grill cost a little more because of the side burner, but this is what makes the grill so versatile and popular among backyard grillers. Have fun and enjoy!

    I just used mine today. I use it almost everyday. I took pork chops dry rubbed them with Creole seasonings then oiled them a bit. Preheated grill. Grilled for a few min on each side. Very delicious. I put par boiled potatoes in the pan under grill in the hot drippings and browned them. Threw some broccoli in . Great meal

    I have the 2020 version. I don’t use the griddle OR the air fry basket on mine for anything. I like just using the pan. I do steaks, chicken, fries, etc., all with the pan. I don’t need the grill marks because it’s another part to clean and it’s not the easiest to clean. Love it and use it a LOT ! Thanks for the video !

      I agree about cleaning the grill plate... until I learned to put it back in the appliance with everything still hot and pour in enough water to just cover the plate. Come back once it has cooled down and your food is gone, and it is now MUCH easier to clean.

    • @JackieDannenberg
      @JackieDannenberg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmyHilton In the meantime, I figured out you can put it in the dishwasher. I soak it in the sink first with HOT water and let the food disperse that way. Good idea on your part however. Thanks !

    Thanks for this video, Doug. I have this grill and I LOVE it. We use it almost daily. I had also wondered about just cooking in the pot. A previous version of this grill (I had one of the first) referenced cooking directly in the pot and there were even a couple of recipes. Good to see I can still do that. One of my favorite things about this grill is cooking the meat and removing the grill plate with the meat on it to rest, and then cook my veggie in the basket (or the cook pot, thanks) while it sets. I got a granite cutting board that sits next to my grill just for that purpose. And by the time I have cooked veggies for 7-8 minutes, the meat is still steaming and the juices are sealed in. I love it!

    I do wish that it would cook like the Grill/Griddle, cooking from top and bottom, but it works good. I love to eat, and make things how I want. This thing, I never run out of ideas.

    I have the original XL grill. I like the idea of buttons instead of the digital options. What Ninja really needs to improve is the cleaning of the grill and cover. What a pain! Really discourages me from grilling as much as I would like to.

    Based on Ninja website, this grill (model dg551) grill does not appear to be replacing the grill & griddle model (ig551/ig651). This grill is the 2nd generation of the Smart XL Indoor Grill (model fg651). Basically the same but $20 cheaper.

    Great video. I have the old basket style Ninja Air Fryer and it works great but it's a pain when you want to air fry stuff like wings which takes about 2 hours because you can only put about 6 wings pieces at a time. I hate cooking steaks indoors because of the smoke, whether it's skillet or broiled. This is a two-fer, definitely going to pick this up.
