The ToyBiz Marvel legends toys were amazing
They truly were!
Some of these Toybiz honestly still hold up i was really debating just picking up a toybiz beast just because it’s older proportions still work as a beast lol
I broke the Marvel legends rule for him and cyclops who’s referred to all the time as skinny. Toybiz might’ve had some misses in the face sculpt department but all the characters were always the right build
You should totally pick one up!
That Lady deathstrike is still the go to on my shelf ..... and that Toy Biz Mr Sinister is still my favorite ...... It captures the creepy and evil nature of Mr Sinister better than the later Hasbro versions

Beast, Colossus and Magneto were the very first MLs I got from Toybiz, right when they came out, and I still have them displayed. I got Mr. Sinister, Nightcrawler, Mojo, Shadowcat and the bald version of Bishop much much later, but stuck with them instead of Hasbro's revamps.
I think all of those are good calls - I don't have that bald Bishop - that is an awesome figure!

i remember drawing comic book characters and i always drew Wolverine as like a 7’5 hulking monster, the claws made him bleed from the knuckles every time he’d get them out instead of the skin slowly retracting like in the movies (don’t forget the Brown Suit too 😂)

That xmen classics nightcrawler was based on the ultimate universe. I think sabretooth was ultimate too
You are right about both of those. Ultimate X-Men didn’t work for me (whereas USM is one of my all time favs) but that Nightcrawler is sweet!

That storm was an xmen classics repaint of toybiz series 8 storm.
Omega red reused the body mold from sabretooth and sin6 venom
Storm has a fantastic sculpt

Man I had so many of the xmen classics when I was younger and I unfortunately got rid of most of them other than that ultimate nightcrawler

Oh and that sabertooth with the extra claws is ultimate sabertooth! I still have that figure too!

The gambit figures you were backwards on. The multi pack one had the pleather coat the single card one had the normal soft goods

I´m a DC guy. I did watch X-Men the TV series back in the day. Two characters that gave me nightmares from the show were Omega Red and Mr. Sinister. Don´t know why.
Cause they are both super creepy!

@CarbonScoring the new figures do look good but are missing something about the depth that toybiz really had. Also, the price point is too high for what consumers get, but I can still enjoy seeing other people collect thwm. Maybe someday I'll put together a Jim Lee xmen team. I got some of the retro carded a few years ago. Crazy to think Legends have been on shelves for 20+ years.

In my opinion the only thing wrong with the so called “hey Jude beast figure” is that his head seems a little big for my taste, that’s why I think the newer one is slightly better in that department. But other than that, that figure is a GOLD MINE!

Cyclops reused the same body as series 2 namor and series 5 nick fury. But those boots and gloves were totally original to him

That first ice man was the toybiz ML series 8 ice man but that ice sled was from the first xmen classics one. The one at the end was the classics one

I don't fully agree, the standardization in sculpts has really helped - both companies have their pluses and minuses

if toybiz would have modernized their articulation.. they'd still be making figs today
I've read they were able to keep costs down because of some shady stuff - there are always two sides of every story
@@CarbonScoring haven't heard that before.. but they kept the MSRP down, they had great sculpts, they just never mastered articulation. Whoever decided ball hip and shoulder joints were the way to go killed the company IMO

You notice that Hasbro put out 2 great female figures recently (Bw and warbird) and made them both target exclusive? Me thinks hasbro wasn’t confident in their selling ability, then they both sold out almost immediately

the main reason hasbro or any other brand doesn't experiment a lot of new stuff anymore is because, nowadays if they make one mistake, people fall over them like vultures. If they make one BIG mistake, all hell breaks loose.
The real reason is because hasbro is cheap and a big company that would rather easily reuse sculpts and repaint figures with little accessories while up charging the figure for more than it’s worth.
They need to understand the higher the price the better the value needs to be and yet the value has either stayed the same or got worse. And for the price point they’re charging and about 30-35 a figure they need to be way better for that ridiculous price.
Mcfarlane makes mistakes but for 22 dollars 95% of his figures are new sculpts while also trying new articulation, good amount of paint and giving us things like wired capes.
Hasbro is just a lazy company that’s trying to take the most advantage out of its customers the as little work as possible.
@@sauceboss3808 i just said it was the main, not the only reason. I don't care about hasbro, i haven't bought anything they make in a long time. I do know their cheap ass tho, and unfortunately i doubt anything is ever going to change
I actually like he fact that Hasbro has been giving us extra hands and extra heads, as well as things like blast effects, those are much more helpfult ot my collection and displays than some of the old hunks of plastic that came with Toy Boz figures - plus, from a price standpoint, a lot has changed in 20+ years

@@CarbonScoring my problem is not with the astronomical price increase, but the astronomical drop in quality. (Original sculpts, paint apps, accessories, pack-in comics, bafs the size of toddlers etc.)
