I love the tenor beyond any. He brings the memory alive of luciano, the great Pavarotti who we had the pleasure to be at his gala concert Covent Garden. Who we personally met a few times. Alas it's past. But Michael Spyres is equal, his voice is a wonderful delight......
Ever since the famous, definitive recording by Jussi Björling and Robert Merrill, it has been a brave tenor and baritone who tackled this glorious aria. But this duo: bravo!
I've always greatly admired the tremendous combination of skills required of successful opera singers - music theory, vocal technique, acting, plus languages (especially Italian, French and German). Do most opera singers have a natural aptitude these core languages, given that I presume their studies focus on music and voice, or do many simply have to put in many hours of private study to become proficient in this particular aspect of their craft? Many thanks!
It is a lot of work ! I mean you can be naturally gifted but even so you need to work really hard to have a great diction in every language you sing in. Sorry for my poor english, it isn’t my first language. I hope I answered to your question !
This "Edwin guy" is Edwin Crossley-Mercer, one of today's best bass-baritones. Google him up. He is a splendid operatic voice and a recitalist (Winterreise and Die Schöne Magelone), who has sung all over the world and even put in an appearance with Pretty Yende last year on the 14th July concert at the Eiffel Tower. Despite the white streaks in his hair, he's only 40.

At last we have a good full-voice tenor in our days. Bravissimi!!
This tenor is a friend.. also an incredible baritone. Michael is unbelievable!
It never fails to catch the heart strings. Thank you.

Try listening to Gösta Björling and Erik Sædén. Incredible! These two singers come very close.
Glorious! I love how, at the end, they cut after “jusqu'à,” and it echoes in the hall.
Sublimissime ! ! ! Merci Georges Bizet, merci Michael & Edwin . . . .
Joli duo et belle diction !
Как слаженно красиво поют.не перекрикивают друг друга
My late father's favourite piece we played it at his funeral 21 years ago and I still love it. This is absolutely beautiful!
Beauty such as this masterpiece needs no further comment.
Beide Sänger sind phantastisch gut😮

Briljante kombinasie. Pragtig en dankie vir die baie mooi duet.
El tenor me sorprendió gratamente, que hermosa interpretación! ❤️❤️
Excellent! Bravo! Beautiful performance. Thank you!
Simply marvellous!
Wonderful voices..
C est magnifique. Avec un gros faible pour le si talentueux michael spyres
Man, that tenor pings with such clarity like some sopranos cannot! Would like to hear him as Wagner Heldentenor.
He did do a workshop performance as Tristan. Give that a listen
Now another surprise - he can play with a range between base, self assured baritone and tenor. Page through TH-cam!
he recorded in fernem land from lohengrin. For some reason he recorded it in french though. It's pretty good though, he makes it sound very easy.
He is not a heldentenor and I truly hope he does not make the mistake of foraying into Wagner.
@@christorabie643He does not have the range of a bass. He is a pure baritenor.
Vaya par de voces y de talentos más bien empastados

@@MVD19 You certainly have answered my question - no short-cuts, just lots of work! By the way, there's no need for apologies - your English is fine!

Look how young Michael is 😅. Who is this Edwin guy? He's great.
