Hey bud, this is a way better review of a case knife than I've found recently. Most reviewers are so slow and boring. I really appreciate you getting right to it and keeping my interest. Keep it up dude, you got a new sub with this review! 🤟
My biggest issue is the ball detent when closing the knife. It seems to just "stick" when trying to close it instead of dropping shut, it needs to be pushed closed! At least that's the case on my new Case (I bought this exact same model).
There are several misses in this knife, (such as the bulky pocket clip, the stickiness of the detent, the aluminum "spring" framelock, among others) that reminds me of Chinese production many years ago...though priced at $145. This knife is worthy of a gas station knife and should be priced at $30-$40 tops.
I bought the blue one and absolutely love it. Thank you for your review. I watched a video on here by a guy named LeftyEDC and he put ceramic bearings in the one he had. He was grascious enough to send me a set of ceramic bearing that I installed in my Kinzua. I figured with ceramic bearing and brass race, it would eliminate the possibility of rust like the factory steel ones since it is going to be my EDC blade.
Good video 👍. I have about 40 benchmades your definitely right about the action out of the box lol. But I haven’t really cared for this knife till I seen this video. I didn’t realize they made it a frame lock. You wouldn’t think it would be so overbuilt with good blade steel for $115.
Always liked Case knives and just picked one of these up with a 20% discount at my local knife shop. Great modern flipper knife made in the USA and I would rather support Case. It’s a really good knife for what you’re paying for it. Sure it has a couple things that a knife snob could pick on but I think they’re headed in the right direction with what they’ve put out here with the kinzua. I’ll be watching to see if they’re listening to their customer base and making improvements over time.
"Deep carry"...except that it sticks up a little... that was my one hesitation. I just ordered a blue one and I'm hopeful it doesn't bother me. I'll consider getting a custom pocket clip if it bothers me too much.
Absolute awesome Knive, ich liebe mein Kinzua and mein Marilla. Made in the USA aus tollem Stahl. Thank you for the super Video, i also love this knive.....100%😍🇺🇸
Bearings are a way to disguise poor construction and tolerances. It’s a huge failure if they’re not smooth right out of the box. The blade thickness wouldn’t be an issue if the blade was wider to allow for better edge geometry. I’ll be interested to see how Case improves moving forward.
This is a pretty cool knife BUT, the detent hole is too big for the detent ball causing a lot of play when the knife is closed. Also, the jimping is too soft it needs to be a sharper. The pocket clip is pretty bad as well. When the knife is opened, it's SOLID but when it's closed, there's a lot of blade play. Too bad it's a great design, Case needs to work on the fit and finish.
Bought mine locally. Case apparently sourced the screws from foreign source. Who new going from 6 to 8 could change a price point? Blade, handle, machine work, all US. I can live with Made In USA for this.
It's great to see such a vaunted brand building their own folding knives. Thanks for the video.
Agreed!

Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the review! I’m thinking of doing an updated review on it as well.
Was looking at a Benchmade till I ran across the Case Marilla, glad to see Case has a modern folding knife now. Case was about half the price too.

That's a great idea! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I hope the blade gets the attention it deserves!

I love Case knives, I definitely want one.
It’s a great addition to the line

Haha indeed. To me, the knife itself is worth doing some work on the clip.
Great review!
Thanks!

Agree with your Kinzua quality assessment .Have you seen the crosshatch handle?Any thoughts on that ?
I have not
Great review
Thanks Jacob!
did you ever end up finding better low profile t8 screws for this? looking for some myself. great video!
I haven’t unfortunately. Still on the hunt
It should be up to the manufacturer to fix this problem...especially at this price.
Good review. This sure looks a whole lot like my CG01. Gotta wonder if Case actually did make it in house.

The a is silent in Kinzua.

It’s pronounced Kin-Zoo; the Seneca word for “fish on a spear” .
Good to know!
I really tano blades
…kinzua is pronounced “kin-zoo”
A reserve area near bradford, where the knives are made,
Kinzoo
Made in the USA and “assembled” in the USA do not mean the same thing. Read the box again.

Their bone handle knives; the bone is Imported from South America. Everything else is made and assembled in here.
