This week, after trying to buy a remote cottage in Ireland, followed by some winter van life fun in Scotland, we are driving south for Christmas.
Its a long road trip so we thought it would be fun to pass the travel time answering as many of your questions as we possibly can.
We don't have all the news we'd like on our dream remote cottage yet, as Lou explains in this vid, new problems are coming up in the surveys! Hopefully we will have a full update for you as soon as we have all the info, and hopefully that will be before Christmas. In the mean time we hope you've enjoyed this van life uk road trip with us as we make our way south.

I’m a boring old fart, but hanging out with you guys would absolutely make my day. If you have a meet and great with your followers and fans you’ll probably need either the NEC or O2 arena 🤣
I have 2 greyhounds, who came from rescues. Both were used for hunting and as a result I can't let them off leed, they are sweethearts but small dogs or other animals become prey.
I really wish I could let them off but I respect others in the park.

@@gbwildlifeuk8269 if we don’t stop draining the planet of its resources there won’t be anything left for future generations. In any case I think people who make the active choice to not have children are far from selfish. Just because we can doesn’t mean we all should.
I’m 67 I’ve never wanted children- I love my nephews and niece to bits I’ll do anything for them, but I never wanted my own child. I don’t consider myself selfish, just that I have self knowledge sending love for safe and happy travels
On the subject of picking your battles, sometimes you have to ask yourself, “Would I rather be right or happy?” 🥰

Having 2 beagles who love to abandon us on walks in favour of sniffing out deer, rabbits, squirrels etc. I can completely understand keeping AJ on his lead, never mind his cruciates. We were once 'abandoned' on Christmas Day at 3.30pm on the way back from Catbells to our van after I had suggested they went on the lead. 'Sensible' husband thought they would be fine and didn't respond well to the tears and "I told you so!" over an hour later! Beagles well happy and oblivious to the drama - though certain they would have been scared to death and turned tail immediately, had the source of their sniffs turned to confront them! We now have a tracker which doesn't bring them back sadly, but does reassure us we know where they are - hubby is still stupid, sorry, brave and still lets them off! Merry Christmas 🎅
I hired a campervan during a stay in August, and went around New Forest. I am the same age as Louise's mom, so I felt really pleased with myself. ❤
Not wanting children isn’t “selfish.” The cultural pressure to have children is not cool. My preference is rescuing animals. 🌿

I can almost guarantee that question was from an American. Here in the states you're not considered a proper adult unless you've managed to create some little monster with your reproductive bits, usually because you were either drunk, or too stupid to understand birth control.
Fully understand your concern re AJ and the precautions you take.
We have 2 Beagles aged 9. One of them had TPLO Cruciate surgery aged 3, thankfully the other leg has been fine, as the percentage rate of a second leg going is around 70% She’s been on daily medication for a number of years as she has a lot of arthritis.
She has also had Meningitis twice, first time was just before her 1st birthday, such a horrible illness in dogs.
Despite all that she still just loves to run on the beach & enjoys life.
We are so lucky to have them both as you guys are with AJ. 😊
For your solo single female traveller….i travelled the Wild Atlantic Way on my own and never even came close to having any issues. Everyone was lovely! One of my top trips to Europe ever!
We moved over from the UK to Mayo in 1999 - best thing we ever did! If you're ever traveling near Westport and need somewhere to do some washing/have a bath/cup of tea, a chat and perhaps dinner and a few drinks - get in touch. Plenty of parking space, animal friendly :) Not sure HOW you'd get in touch, but am sure we could work something out :) Meantime, have a great Christmas, and best of luck with the cottage.

Welcome to our beautiful Norfolk. I live about an hour away. Having children is a private matter between two people. It’s nothing to do with anyone else. I like those songs too.

Love oddball people. Converted a 41 seater coach to a mobile home back in the early 70s (wife and 2 children). Police were friendly in those days, if there were complaints they would stop and suggest a suitable location to stop for a day or two. Lived on an 8 metre Bobcat catamaran for a year sailing around the UK. Also lived in caravans as we travelled round Britain.
Now bricks and mortar so I have something to leave to the children and at 76 I need a relatively quiet life.

I loved my wife dearly for 51 years of marriage but she could instantly recall any of my transgressions and gently ‘remind’ me of them,but I didn’t really mind, it was just the way she was. Now she’s gone I actually miss them !

CONFIDENCE is often an issue. I pushed myself into a P.O.C. (Potential Officer Cadet Course) with the British Army at only 18. I was challenged with lots of new sports: Pot-holing, surf canoeing, Rock climbing/Abseiling, escape & evasion, trekking, touch the Land Rover, etc. I was asked to try again, the next year, but JOINED UP instead. I have lived/worked in Germany, Kazakhstan, China and now Thailand. visited 24 countries. Had at least 3 careers in Education, Finance, and Technology.
Push yourself to HAVE A GO! Confidence is just a state or mind and a bit of acting/bluffing. I encourage everyone to experience life's challenges and fail, but by failing you learn. I failed my first driving test at 18 but went onto drive class 3, then class 1 trucks.
HAVING A GO, is KEY.

I didnt want kids until I had one and another and another, once you pop you cant stop, they made my life complete and the world be a much duller life without them.
