The only Heath Ledger films that I can think of that were good other then this one are 10 Things I Hate About You which I love and A Knights Tale which is was good but not great for me. I know Brokeback Mountain is supposed to be good but I've never seen it. Is there some other Heath Ledger films these two should watch?
Scarecrow scene where he says “thats not him” is what does it for me. The fact he wasnt scared of these fake batmans, even when they had guns was so scarecrowy
Christopher Nolan, and Heath Ledger really nailed the relationship of Batman and the Joker throughout their entire history. That's why no matter what superhero films are made in the future, they will never be able to measure up to The Dark Knight. This is one of the few movies I saw in theatre's 4 times in the first month it came out. I was almost physically shaking with excitement during my first viewing opening night, and I couldn't believe how good it was after I left the theatre that night. I couldn't stop thinking about the movie for a week after first seeing the film.
@@kaiphan1346 It's hard to nail down because it changes so often, but I think I place him just behind Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street on my personal list. Of all the Joker portrayals, Ledger's Joker is head over heels the best.

Fun Fact: When the joker is integrating Rachel when she keeps turning her head shes actually looking at director Christopher Nolan as health ledger freaked her out so much and at the start when he walks in Alfred's face is his legit reaction as he didn't see heath before that scene so he was generally scared when he walked in.
Joker: "you'll see, when the chips are down...these "civilized people"...they'll eat each other, like rats. You see, I'm not crazy, I'm just ahead of the curve!" Please remember this quote Jen! Holden bring this up before Dark Knight Rises.
Fun fact for Jen: that “eeeeee” sound that Holden was laughing about you imitating was actually a violinist dragging a razor blade across a string. The purpose of that was exactly what you said, to cause a mounting sense of unease and dread whenever the joker is around. You never know when he’s going to do something explosively horrifying, or painfully dragged out.
It was so effective! It creeps in so slowly you don't even notice at it first, then gradually amps up perfectly in line with the tension building on screen.
Sorry to be that kind of guy, but that rising string motive is actually played on a cello. I believe on the soundtrack recording it was Martin Tillmann, a swiss cellist, playing. In most of the live concerts, Tina Guo (also a long time collaborator and good friend of Hans) is playing the cello. Gotta love the simplicity of Hans Zimmer's soundtracks. Simple but always captivating and fitting in my opinion. Some though say being too simple is his soundtracks' biggest weakness...
I heard it’s also a bit of a tongue in cheek composition: supposedly it starts in C and slowly rises to D which makes the notes DC as in the comics Batman and Joker are from but it’s inverted (C to D) to symbolize his villainy and how he tends to turn things on their head or something like that
Interrogation scene is my favorite batman movie segment of all time. Jokers lines about "you complete me", "breaking your one rule" and "you have nothing to do with all your strength" crystalize their rivalry perfectly.
The more interesting thin is he didn’t notice joker was holding the hammer of the gun to try and stop it from firing if the coin landed on the other side
@@williamlee7454 And had his fiancee murdered, for which he feels responsible, etc. All in all, a very big day for him. Plus, you can see how out-of-it Harvey is until the Joker sits him up and demands his attention.
To be fair, he was emotionally unstable, half of his face was recently burned off, and he was refusing pain medication. Yeah I imagine I would not be at my most observant then either
Yeah, and smetimes nurses don't go into the post-op wards because everyone's like, "WHOA NICE TITS WE SHOULD GET MARRRRRRRRIIIIIEEEEEEDDDD....zzzzzz" In front of their WIVES. I've SEEN it happen. And I've had over thirty-two surgeries myself, I was a kid, I HOPE I didn't say anything like that, but I was a riot... shit happens. It takes a bit before you're you again, assuming you don't wake up to find out that your fiancee has been murdered, and the last thing she said was "My answer is YES!" and the last thing YOU said to her was, "NOOOOOOO!!!!" That's probably going to mess you up.
Fun fact: The "Sky hook" that Batman used to get out of the office building in China is based on a real thing the CIA used to get agents out of the field back in the 50's. Worked essentially the exact way he did it in the movie.
@@shade_zz1585 For the vast majority of ops, no. Getting a plane to fly that low in a hot zone would be riskier than the op itself. Then again, the SOF community has done muuuch crazier shit
Heath's Joker isn't just the best supervillain performance ever, it's one of the greatest performances ever. Everything he does in this film is absolutely pitch perfect. Terrifying, hilarious, and just so good
I’ll never forget my first time seeing Endgame and the hype of Cap wielding Mjolnir…… but I’ll never forget how amazingly SPECTACULAR this movie was and how intense it all was. This is a one of a kind superhero movie that has been unmatched since being released. It’s just so good.
for me its the best movie ever and none superhero movie cant top these the only one who comes close to me its infinity war i hope that spider man no way home comes close to the level of these movie
I really like the fact that both Bruce Wayne and the Joker dump out the alcohol when they both have a glass. It's almost like they understand that they need their senses about them, which alcohol would obviously cause problems with. Even while the Joker is a bit "different", he understands that he wouldn't want to put himself at a disadvantage...."Do I really look like a guy with a plan?" No, he doesn't. But he definitely did.
The sound Jenn is referring to at 34:45 (basically Joker's "theme") is called a Shepard tone. The reason it makes people feel uncomfortable is because it continuously gives the appearance that it's getting higher and higher pitched but never resolves. It was a perfect choice by Hans Zimmer and he actually talks about it in the behind-the-scenes extras of the film.
Opening night in my theater, one guy asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to his girlfriend while we waited for midnight to come. It was a unique time waiting in line to get into the theater room for a midnight screening premiere day, though watching films on Thursday is fun.

_"Gotham deserves a better class of criminal"_ That line was brilliant. It presages what would normally be the age of the costumed super criminal in Gotham, but also denigrates the mob and the corrupt politicians who are really parasites instead of predators.
"You have nothing, nothing to threaten me with. Nothing to do with all your strength" This is my most favorite line in the movie. Not just because of the way Heath delivered it but because what the Joker said is so true. Can you imagine how frustrating Batman felt, he had the moment and all the strength to beat him to a pulp but somehow he doesnt have the upper hand. He was physically beating him but still wasn'tt able to extract info about Rachel and Dent's where about, meaning the Joker could have killed those two whenever he wanted and Batman cant do shit about it. The Joker only gave him the location because it was part of the plan, the plan to turn Dent into one of them, "a freak".
I think you guys are definitely right about Heath Ledger blending into the Joker. Another one I would say blends into their character is Gary Oldman. Its odd because he never really changes physically in any of his roles, but I have to actively try to see Gary when he is on screen. The man is a Chameleon.
Hans Zimmerman talked a lot about the Joker theme - it’s great. It’s just two cellos playing the same note and slowly going off key and leaning into the tension of the strings to make the note bite. Really genius and fits Heath’s performance perfectly. Heath could’ve been a cartoon as others have played The Joker but instead he’s just pure chaos and has no care as to how things turn out.
Fun fact the joker clapping for Gordon was completely improve wasn’t scripted but they liked it so much they kept it in the final cut also when Batman is Interrogating joker those were 100% real punches
I don't know that this is true. They've a head-and-shoulders shot centered on the Joker sitting in his cell. What was the purpose of that, if not to record his clapping? Also very much doubt the "real punches" thing. For one thing, huge risk of injury to Ledger that would impede production for no real value (real punches often don't look "real" on camera anyway). For another, no evidence of swelling/bruising on Ledger in other shots. If they'd had to alter production to allow Heath's face to heal, likely we'd have heard about it.
The scene when the hospital blows up and Joker stops and looks at it because it doesn’t fully go off wasn’t actually improvised. That was just some weird legend, that the internet started. There’s no way they would’ve kept rolling if that happened with such a dangerous stunt happening, and it didn’t fully go off, they would’ve had to get a bomb squad to figure out what happened and evacuate everything. So that’s one thing, two if I’m not mistaken it’s actually in the script that there is supposed to be a delay, and Heath would turn around and look at it. However something really cool that is improvised from Heath is the deleted scene that followed the hospital blowing up. Basically it’s Heath just in the school bus, and the entire time that this giant fucking explosion is going off, he doesn’t look at it and stays completely in character. Truly a master of his craft
Plus the building was being demolished by a real crew as the building was scheduled to be destroyed and the producers took advantage of it. the filmmakers might like a pause in their theatrical demolition by the real guys wouldn't...at least one that was "improvised" and not planned. as you said, that would indicate a faulty or flawed demolition which is dangerous.
I hate how these urban legend “behind the scenes facts” get mass circulated on the internet, and then everyone tries to tell it to you like it’s something only they know and most people haven’t already seen it a thousand times.
I remember seeing a BTS clip somewhere on TH-cam of an animated storyboard of the scene. The pause was planned because it gave heath enough time for him to get a safe distance away from the building before it was demolished. I think the explosions as he’s coming out are like ‘cosmetic’ if that makes sense. Then the second set of explosions actually bring the building down. It’s always annoyed me that everyone thinks it’s improvised 🙈
Jen’s “eeeeeeeeeeee” sound was an electric cello being played while the cellist slowly played higher and higher notes, sliding up the neck very, very gradually. It is there to add tension to any scene he’s in, so glad it worked for her, it certainly did for me. Similarly, the Bat-pod, Batman’s motorcycle, never shifts gears, the sound of its motors just get higher and higher the faster it goes. Agree with 10/10 rating, such a masterpiece.
22:59 If you go to Twin Anchors in Chicago, they have parts of the bar labeled, that are 'Dented' by Harvey (from multiple takes of him slamming down the glass)
I remember when Heath Leger was cast as Joker, the outcry was crazy. To be fair... prior to this, his most prolific roles were more hearthrobby. Kind of like Pattinson.
Same with Robert Downey Jr, there was the "he's a drunken druggie washed up" actor I think people shouldn't jump to conclusions and just trust the process
@@scottb3034 his most prolific roles, mind you. He isn't known for that one. Gibson is. Prior, he was most known for 10 Things, A Knight's Tale, and Broke back Mountain

The Dark Knight is not just the greatest superhero movie ever made, it is also one of the best crime dramas ever made. It really is a true blood crime saga at its core and deals with really mature themes and comes out at the end of it as an all time classic.

Mask of the Phantasm is still my favourite Batman Movie but Dark knight has a really solid story, acting, and dialogue, Batman Begins still has the better Gotham.
I saw this in theaters, opening night. LOVED the old midnight release atmosphere we used to have. All the speculations, all the costumes, all the hype. I also remember a group of people were going "Iron Man? Who wants to watch that??" since it did come out roughly the same month. One thing I REALLY loved was when we were all "ooh" and "aww"ing over the Batcycle and then went VERY quiet when the semi lifted. We all froze just like the sound, dead silent. Then applause one it landed on its back.
Hands down my favorite Batman movie to date. I remember how PO'ed comics fans were when they first announced Heath Ledger as Joker..... almost as upset as they were when they first announced RDJ would play Tony Stark. Sometimes it's nice to see fans be so wrong.
I wasn't upset when I heard Robert was casted as Iron Man. I have watched the Iron Man animated series. I knew Robert was going to be awesome. I saw the trailer and I could tell he was going to nail the role. He was great.
They also had the same reaction back in the day when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman since he was known for comedy stuff at the time. He sure proved everyone wrong. That’s why I’m open to Robert Pattinson as the new Batman. Let’s wait and see how he does is my mindset on it.
@@biguy617 You were definitely in the minority then, Comic Book fan's screams of dismay and outrage echoed from basements around the globe when it his casting was announced, long before any trailer existed. Interesting to note… with the ferries, the Joker told them each had the remote to blow up the other boat. Me thinks that he did the same bait and switch that he pulled with Harvey and Rachel. If one of them triggered the remote they would’ve blown up their own boat.

I think a main point of why LEdger's Joker is "the best", is that there's no dilution to this one, perfect example. It's never been "diluted" with another performance by him under a different director, screen writer, producer or such. He had this first attempt at it, nailed it, and it'll live forever as the shining example of Joker at his best. Had he been given the chance, you know the origin story or an attempt at an even edgier Joker would've been tried, likely with him recast, and it would've soured this movie a lot.
Dark Knight is just best of the best for sure and Heath Ledger is a legend here. The song Jen mentioned was actually intended this way, and it was mentioned in the bonus material how Hans Zimmer came up with this vision and how they created the never ending tension.
I like Bale's Batman voice too. And a least he tries to hide who he is, instead of just wearing glasses and no one recognizes him. Also, I love that Jen keeps noticing the Butt Chin! That distracts me too
That pause in the hospital explosion wasn't actually improvised. Someone said that, and because Nolan never talks about behind the scenes stuff, it spread. A few years ago he confirmed that it was completely intentional.
Best Batman movie to date. Saw this when it came out when I was back in middle school and watching it now, I put myself in the mindset of the characters in intense scenes and try to feel the emotions that are being portrayed by the actors, and after rewatching this I cant imagine doing any of Heath Ledger's legendary scenes. Dude is an absolute Legend!! Love you guys! Keep making great content😁
Love these reactions. The one thing I have to correct is that the explosion of the hospital went off exactly how it was scripted to and was not improvised. Still a fantastic performance. It was so well planned out in such meticulous detail that there is a behind the scenes rendering of a computer graphic of the scene that was done up before it was performed and it shows the pause of the detonator not working properly and the Joker fiddling around with it.
That strung out note is the jokers theme. It is a solid D that’s slowly fades towards C-sharp, but never completely, giving that unnerving feeling of not being a steady note. They also experimented with razor blades and shards of metal on guitar strings and piano wire to give it a jagged sound
the scene with the hospital wasn’t improvised. That was just a weird myth that started circling around the internet. If you watch the bonus content on the Blu-ray they explain how carefully choreographed everything was. What is interesting about that scene is that a lot of the windows of the hospital are cg. Someone stole a bunch of the glass and they didn’t have time to buy more so they just added it in post.
Holden, do you ever think about watching Craig's Bond movies? Or maybe at least Casino Royale. And on top of that "Knives Out" too? I would love to see yours and Jen's reaction(if you both havent seen them already). And thanks for the vids
All these reactions from Jen! Exactly how I and I’m pretty sure everyone that’s seen this movie in the theater when it came out. Holden and Jen keep up the great work.
For all his talk about "chaos", the Joker planned A LOT. He took down the mob, the corrupt police and justice system, and challenged Gotham's reliance on "heroes" with finesse.
Because "chaos" is not the opposite of "planning." That'd be "spontaneity." There may be some similarity in the dynamic but the opposite of "chaos" is "order." Joker seeks to "upset the established order" as he says to Harvey. He wants to dissolve the power structures, moral codes, and social conventions that he sees as as stifling and absurd as well as ultimately hypocritical ("a bad joke dropped at the first sign of trouble" or, in other words, a lie masking the truth of how people would behave when introduced to a little disorder).
10:42 I think the scar stories are told in a way based on what Joker guesses about the people he's telling them to. Gambol's anger issues made him think Gambol had an abusive dad so he made up a story about his dad being an alcoholic who killed his mother and carved a smile into his face. And his story to Rachel is basically a threat to what he and the mob will do to her and Harvey.
Joker said "Depending on the time, he may be in one spot or several". That's because by the time the bomb goes off, Dent's body will be in several places. Nice joke from joker. 😂
yeah at first i thought he was implying that dent was still on his way to a location he knew about and was just being cheeky to gordon about it but after awhile i just realized he was taunting him by making that joke you said.
Christopher nolan has confirmed that the hospital explosion went off as intended, and while heath improvised his actions, the pause before the last explosion was always intended.
Yep, the improvisation thing was a huge rumor that got big for no reason other than it seemed cool lol. That scene played out how it was generally supposed to.
Dark Knight is such a good movie. The dialogue is so memorable and on point, espeically when it comes to both villains. Their dialogue hints at the 3rd act of the movie, how heroes, population and police will react to what happens. It is the script that makes it and this is a movie that will stay with me forever. PS: Please do a video on Prestige. It is my 2nd favorite Nolan movie after TDK and before Inception which is my 3rd fav.
So, Kevin Conroy is the quasi official voice of Batman. He's played him in cartoons, animated movies, video games, and even played versions of him in live action projects. When people read the comics his voice is the one you hear in your head for Batman. At some point during a podcast or convention or something, the hosts gave him the script for Batman's ending monologue in the Dark Knight where he tells Gordon that he'll take the blame for the murders, and basically asked him to do a cold read where he had no time to prepare and just wing it. The script writer was a genius when it came to this dialogue, so to have the voice of Batman say these lines is one of the most epic 3 minutes of Batman history
Was Michael Cain’s first time seeing him too. He was supposed to have a line as he opened the door for the Joker and henchmen BUT he was so horror struck he hesitated, if you go back and watch you see him jump in terror with his jaw quivering. Chris Nolan loved this reaction more than what his line actually was and just left it in.
@@Thebooniefrog1985 I think when Joker Turns looks back a few seconds after entering the room it's Heath Ledger being confused because of Michael Cain's missing line
Joker clapping when Gordon got promoted was also improvised, so their reaction to seeing him do that was legit 😂 Love your guys' 'watch for the first time videos', they genuinely make my evenings when i get home from work so chilled! ☺️
Jen really picks up on some small details and it's very impressive, stuff like the music change for the joker scenes, when she talks about movies you would think she has been a big movie nerd her whole life. Lol.
“Welcome to Capital One” I almost chocked on my garlic bread I laughed so hard. The part about Dent and protecting his name, to me, regardless of what he became, it doesn’t change the legitimacy of the cases he was involved in and the criminals he brought down before his downfall.
This is the first video of yours that I have ever seen, and this puppy combo is the cutest I've ever seen. They match you and your couch and they're adorable and you have the right number.
Literal chills down my spine, every time I watch this. The Dark Knight trilogy is probably a trilogy I've seen the most, or a close second after The Matrix. And I've seen almost all of the trilogies and movie series ever made...
I remember seeing this movie in theaters when it came out. Everybody was so captivated by the Joker. So many gasps when he was on screen and throughout the movie in general. At the very end of the movie when he said “A Dark Knight” I remember saying wow. And the whole audience was clapping. It’s definitely in the conversation of greatest movie ever made and arguably the greatest superhero movie ever made.
That line where Heath Ledger’s says: "Their morals, their code; it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. You'll see-I’ll show you. When the chips are down these, uh, civilized people? They'll eat each other. See I'm not a monster, I'm just ahead of the curve." He was right. Humans showed their true colors when the COVID pandemic hit. The riots, the hamstring of food or toilet paper, the racial and religious discrimination online among other uncertainties and chaos just proves how right Villains sometimes are in movies. And yeah the good guy wins in the end, but unfortunately the reality of the world is whole another story.
Very solid review you guys had at the end of the movie. One other fun fact is the scene where Joker entered the building with him meeting with Rachael, she was not aware of how Heath would carry himself and as you see her terrifying look, she was legitimately terrified in that scene. She went on explaining the scene during the an interview on how she was truly terrified during that part. Thanks again guys for your movie reactions I am so glad you guys are doing the batman trilogy perhaps you guys can do Game of Thrones 😁
The fingerprint on the bullet: When loading a bullet into a magazine you tend to slot it in using your thumb. People will clean the handgrip of a gun as a matter of course, but the magazine and the bullets themselves are less likely to be cleaned. This means police can find whoever loaded the bullets into the magazine and try to get them to admit they were the ones who shot the gun, or to point out whoever they loaded the magazine for.
bullets are two-piece things. there is a casing (basically a sleeve) and the bullet itself. the CASING would have the print not the bullet, that's what holden is saying. so the shattered bullet thing would be irrelevant unless he found the casing that had the fingerprint from pressing it into the mag. but that would also make the detective scene with the minigun pointless as well. it was done to for entertainment purposes rather than logic.
I'm going to correct the myth that the explosion scene in the hospital was improvised. Yes, Joker's "reaction" was improvised, the whole turns around spooked and rushes for the bus. He was supposed to just get on the bus, as it all exploded and the camera would continue filming the explosion, but he stayed in place and continued to act (brilliantly I might add). But the actual delay in the explosion was purposeful. since Nolan wanted to do everything as practical as possible it was a safety concern to blow up everything at once. it was done in sections, and the explosions nearest the joker and the buses were set for last. I believe either Nolan or one of the crew confirms this in one of the commentary or featurettes that were included in some versions of the blu-ray and DVD. if the entire hospital was blown up at the same time the force it would yield would cause shrapnel to go flying past the film crew's safety zone. it's why even actual demolition crews only blow sections of a building(s).
The "ferry test" was actually a double blind. Each boat had THEIR OWN detonator but didn't know it.. Why did the Joker set it up that way? Because that's the joke...
I have to bring this up, slight correction, the hospital blowing up scene is NOT improvised. That is in the script, and that rumor just got really really big for some reason. Love the video!
As the Batman trilogy unfolded, the Nolan brothers expanded their filmography to include a couple of the most subversive shows in recent t.v. history: Person of Interest and West World. POI, in particular, had such a 'Dark Knight' feel to it as it included many of the actors from the trilogy. I've always believed that the show's main character -portrayed byJim Caviezel - would make an exceptional aging Bruce Wayne. If you've never seen the show, find a clip on TH-cam to see what I mean. The character's name is John Reese. He's got everything from the voice to the mannerisms down pat (IMHO).
12:09 - Holden, you have to think about how you insert a that type of bullet into a handgun clip/magazine. You usually push it back and down with your thumb against the front tip of the bullet into the clip/magazine.
You can see how passionate Jen felt about the movie with how much she had to say. I agree 100% with her points, that the best movies are the ones that leave you thinking and questioning, also the performance of the characters and their own moral dilemmas were really juicy. This movie had all and for me it's a 10/10
25:05 “I love that he was laughing on the way down” As joker said to the other cop…”it’s in their last moments, that people show you who they really are”
fun fact: The ballroom scene that Jen said she saw prior to watching the movie, this was actually the first time the actress who played Rachel had seen Heath Ledger as joker and her terrified reaction when he was grabbing her was genuine because she didn’t even recognize him at first…..
Refreshing to see someone get that the bank in the beginning was a mob bank, which is why the manager gets the shotgun out. Most reactions I’ve seen completely miss that.
This film is way better than Endgame. Endgame requires 20 other movies to provide backstory and get it to that point. It doesn't work as its own movie.
This is an amazing film. I watched Heat a while ago and saw some similarities with this film and that one, and it turns out CN saw Heat and envisioned Gotham to be like that kind of setting. So when you watch Heat, it actually feels like the Dark Knight in terms of set pieces and sections of the film but overall, the story is completely different. (I don't mean to compare them and to say they share a comon theme, but CN used some parts of Heat as a template with which to write DK.)

Agreed and that twist on the Nietzsche quote is a great look into the mind of the character.

@@rk99688 This quote applies to any period of human history
I heard it’s also a bit of a tongue in cheek composition: supposedly it starts in C and slowly rises to D which makes the notes DC as in the comics Batman and Joker are from but it’s inverted (C to D) to symbolize his villainy and how he tends to turn things on their head or something like that
Hans described the music as having an edge, razor blades, steel, broken glass, none of which are literally part of the music.
Interrogation scene is my favorite batman movie segment of all time. Jokers lines about "you complete me", "breaking your one rule" and "you have nothing to do with all your strength" crystalize their rivalry perfectly.
Yea that and the end where he hanging off the building about we are destined to do this for ever it just explains the Joker Batman relationship fully
I love how Harvey didn’t realize it was the Joker until he took off his mask, like every nurse at that hospital wore clown paint

Yeah, and smetimes nurses don't go into the post-op wards because everyone's like, "WHOA NICE TITS WE SHOULD GET MARRRRRRRRIIIIIEEEEEEDDDD....zzzzzz" In front of their WIVES. I've SEEN it happen. That's probably going to mess you up.
Fun fact: The "Sky hook" that Batman used to get out of the office building in China is based on a real thing the CIA used to get agents out of the field back in the 50's. Worked essentially the exact way he did it in the movie.

I really like the fact that both Bruce Wayne and the Joker dump out the alcohol when they both have a glass.
Nothing to do with all your strength"
This is my most favorite line in the movie.
There's never enough comments about the cute dogs and Boston was ADORABLE when he got scared and Jen comforted him. 🥺

19:52 Say it!
Hans Zimmerman talked a lot about the Joker theme - it’s great. It’s just two cellos playing the same note and slowly going off key and leaning into the tension of the strings to make the note bite. Really genius and fits Heath’s performance perfectly. Heath could’ve been a cartoon as others have played The Joker but instead he’s just pure chaos and has no care as to how things turn out.

if only that happened with ledger and bale
@@michaelccozens he told Bale to actually hit his head. That is why he looks so much in pain while delivering his dialogue because it was genuine
Just ruined this scene for me😐
I remember seeing a BTS clip somewhere on TH-cam of an animated storyboard of the scene.

I didn’t hear a single word Jen said at the beginning because ALL my attention was ENTIRELY on the doggo!🥰
For all his talk about "chaos", the Joker planned A LOT. He took down the mob, the corrupt police and justice system, and challenged Gotham's reliance on "heroes" with finesse.
It’s almost ironic how much planning is involved in causing chaos.
Get this....the joker is a liar.
I mean he lies constantly throughout the movie.
The Joker isn't "chaos", though, nor does he claim to be. He's an agent of same. He doesn't claim to practice it; he creates it.
@@michaelccozens he literally says "I'm an agent of chaos" he gives twoface a whole speech about it.

It was apparently delayed as a safety precaution to ensure Ledger was at a safe distance.
The script writer was a genius when it came to this dialogue, so to have the voice of Batman say these lines is one of the most epic 3 minutes of Batman history
when joker invades the party, that was the first time Rachel had seen the joker so her reaction was genuine
heath also saved her from serious burns on set in that scene as her dress caught fire and he had to put it out.

At the very end of the movie when he said “A Dark Knight” I remember saying wow. And the whole audience was clapping. It’s definitely in the conversation of greatest movie ever made and arguably the greatest superhero movie ever made.
Jen continues her streak of having the BEST reaction faces.
That line where Heath Ledger’s says:
"Their morals, their code; it's a bad joke.
Dropped at the first sign of trouble.
They're only as good as the world allows them to be. You'll see-I’ll show you.
When the chips are down these,
uh, civilized people?
They'll eat each other.
See I'm not a monster,
I'm just ahead of the curve."
He was right.
I laughed so hard at your ice-pop joke at 11:44
You just unlocked so many memories, that plastic is a PAIN.
A thumbprint would easily be left on a bullet from loading it into a clip. Surviving being fired & reconstructed is the movie taking liberties.
just love kickin back and watching your content holden, keep up the great work! appreciate it top tier !
As the Rotwillers tear Batman limb from limb… JEN: “🥺 they just need some treats “ 😂

Jen - “Harvey Seems Like A Decent Dude”
Harvey - We Tried To Be Decent Men, At An InDecent Time”
The fingerprint on the bullet:
When loading a bullet into a magazine you tend to slot it in using your thumb.
When Bruce said she was gonna wait for me Alfred it broke me!
Yeah that rumor got really big because it's in the DVD extra content. As well as HBOs First Look.
I think the real rumor is that it's just a rumor.
This is one of my favorite analysis from Jen so far! Thanks you two for the content! 💚
This movie had all and for me it's a 10/10
I must admit, it left me thinking how dumb end was, but except last 20 minutes and some strange scenes, it was really good movie.
25:05 “I love that he was laughing on the way down”
As joker said to the other cop…”it’s in their last moments, that people show you who they really are”
fun fact: The ballroom scene that Jen said she saw prior to watching the movie, this was actually the first time the actress who played Rachel had seen Heath Ledger as joker and her terrified reaction when he was grabbing her was genuine because she didn’t even recognize him at first…..
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the rare feat that is the middle installment of a trilogy actually being the best of the 3
Refreshing to see someone get that the bank in the beginning was a mob bank, which is why the manager gets the shotgun out. Most reactions I’ve seen completely miss that.
10:52 - The knife in the boot is very ... James West in "The Wild Wild West" TV series (1965 - 1969) with Robert Conrad.
This one for me is on the same level as endgame. Nolan’s genius shines through almost every scene
This is better than endgame
much much better than engame
@@okeeffe1210 kekw
This film is way better than Endgame. Endgame requires 20 other movies to provide backstory and get it to that point. It doesn't work as its own movie.
@@lkay398 you’re right. I guess I was considering the whole marvel franchise leading up to it as well. As a stand alone…I completely agree
At 6:30 the guy who stands up for the joker also plays bronze tiger in arrow, i didn't realize that till now so that was pretty cool
i meant stands up to the joker lol
This is an amazing film. I watched Heat a while ago and saw some similarities with this film and that one, and it turns out CN saw Heat and envisioned Gotham to be like that kind of setting. So when you watch Heat, it actually feels like the Dark Knight in terms of set pieces and sections of the film but overall, the story is completely different. (I don't mean to compare them and to say they share a comon theme, but CN used some parts of Heat as a template with which to write DK.)
My favorite movie ever made. Glad to see you two watching it. So much to analyze and so many details that could easily be missed, it's incredible. Hats off to Nolan. Glad to see Jen liked this
