Comes to think of it, that makes it a much more reliably powerful god power, in a good way! It would sure feel bad to lose a mythic age god power/unit to a pesky lightning bolt from archaic age 😂 So much so if You could still bolt him, it would make no sense to go for Osiris as a mythic minor god pick against Zeus anyway, the other minor god would be the "only" sensible choice in a sense🤔
@@galaxyknuckles9000 Yes! And that would feel earned on the side of the murmillos, and that would feel like it could have been avoided byplaying better on the side of the son of osiris! As opposed to an instant bolt which just feels like a punishment 😂
Auto queue for vils is a very nice feature. I played RTS since warcraft 2, a ton of SC2, AOE2, some AOE4 and the complaints about autoqueue are simply dumb. Whatever makes your life easier and enjoy the game more is better.
@@djnefrozhardstylepromotion3527 I'd say there's pros on each side, to the extent that it's a decision that "needs" to be made once and just stick with whatever the decision is 🤔 Autoqueues take Your braim away from micromanaging buildings and remembering to avoid down time. So it makes it easier for lower skill players to keep up in a game because they can spend comparatively more of their time looking at the map and doing stuff on the map rather than clicking buildings and hotkeys. That also means the skill gap between high end and low end skill is easier to bridge: less intensive micro/attention/effort for everyone, and also mistakes like forgetting to queue villagers for an entire minute don't happen anymore. So there are fewer mistakes to make, and more time to spend on making more impactful (and interesting) decisions besides 🤔 The skill ceiling is mostly unimpacted while the skill floor is higher for everybody, and pushed the highest for less skilled players
what if I enjoy all macro being automatized and just playing micro? what about the reverse scenario, all units micro themselves and I just play city builder? should the game allow that? should it be allowed in competitive? should units be designed around it? and if that is the optimal solution why not apply it to every game? there are arguments for auto unit queue it but this is just an argument for an IQ test.
@@AlexanderMartinez-kd7cz Well, to all Your questions, I would say the games/their developers have to answer the questions to fit their game, their vision of how the game should be played and, to an extent, what their playerbase wants 🤔 I don't think there's a solution for everyone, I think there's several solutions and enough games/potential for enough games that most of these variations can coexist, and then the audiences will naturally sort themselves between the games and the rules of the ranked games in those!
AoM is and always has been the only RTS I play online. RTS is just not a fun genre most of the time. It requires a lot of timing and thinking about multiple things at once and is just too fast to really enjoy. Especially on the more prominent ones like AoE2 and Starcraft 2 where most people will just mop the floor with you the instant you go on ladder. But AoM is actually fun thanks to a number of things, auto-queue on villagers being one of them. And, of course, god powers and myth units. It's not just civilizations that are the exact same with one or two unique units like AoE2, but they're all radically different. Greeks, Egyptians, Norse, and Atlanteans are all wildly different which makes it super interesting and fun.
All expensive GodPower units should be immune to bolts and lightning storm, such as Gullinbursti, Nidhogg and Son Of Osiris (except ancestors and snakes). (Idk if it is so, but devs should do it, because it's expensive 350favour and bolts have 80 favour)
@@FitzBro I tested Editor in AOM Extended Edition, they can be bolted instantly, but it's kinda unfair. Isis can protect with monuments, but it's unfair for Ra 😂 And it'd be especially unfair in Retold where you can recast GPs 😅
I'm not new at all by any means, I've been around since the original AOM on CD with the key and all. However I am CONSTANTLY learning new tricks and tactics from this game and above any other RTS, its the most fun to play and to watch.
I've always believed that Son Of Osiris should be defensively used, either bolting melee units or empowering migdol and such. Always near migdol to escape. Push with Son Of Osiris to be made with migdol building on the frontline.
Why does no one use or understand the benefits of garrisoning inside a tc to spit out 205 damage at 22 range, or even a fort, so many times they both could of used it to save units while there was no real siege threat but more a unit threat
instead of "why go for a second towncenter" i mostly ask myself why not? it shoots, and it provides you with more resources than it cost after a pretty short time, plus in terms of troops it isn't that expensive
So is son of osiris actually viable now? It just feels hard to pick osiris when usual thoth is available and by that time your looking for the game ending god power
Autoqueue vils feels nice. I tried the autoqueue military the other day, and I just don't see why you would do it. While you want to be spending resources as much as possible, maybe you don't make military in the moment. Maybe you queue up some upgrades or build some buildings. I found myself just turning off military autoqueue because it got on my nerves.
I used to love this game as a kid, but now i really don't like it and the rest of the Age of X series. Micromanaging units like this frustrates me to no end, defensive structures are next to useless, there is no sense of macro as you' re practically trying to guess what the enemy is going to build and counter them and it eventually devolves into a micromanaging nightmare that is just insufferable. Now 4x is my jam, big scope, strategic expansion, economy management, proper army management. Now i don't have to take care of 10 individual units every 3 seconds, i have a big cohort that i can direct according to what i think will work, and upon engaging, they won't die within 10 seconds so there's room to think, look around and process the situation.
Kinda disappointing Looks like they didnt change the game all that much I was much more hoping for more like an Age of Mythology 2, Kinda looks like the Same ole same of Years ago, that Being egyptians Being pretty Broken Due to Gold based, unstoppable economy....Is the relentless late Game Mercenary spam still a thing, Man that always really detracted from the fun of the game for Me, well the Egyptian faction in general. And it just got worse as the expansion factions were introduced....still one of my favorite Rts of all time But it definetaly Had its flaws especially in the Balance department.
There's another expansion/pantheon coming after China. Also I don't mean to sound rude but it was never advertised as AoM2 it was always a remake/improvement of the original.
The S-tiers right now are Greeks even after nerfs and Odin being Odin the Allfather dodged the nerfs, with Loki joining in the fun. Set is strong but he requires playing like a madman to get him right. Just go Odin and roflcopterstomp everyone. Ra is weak compared to the other Egyptian Gods right now too, which i'm guessing is the main god that PTSDed you against Eggy so much.
Son of Osiris is immune to god powers in retold, no more bolt hardcounter and probably ignores lightning storm.

Yea but a small gang of murmillo will kill him if he’s barely over extended

I remember in the OG, Son of Osiris was immune to ⚡ as well. But if you could time it properly, you could snipe the pharaoh as it's turning into SoO.

Yep. Most old time streamers that complain about it are just salty they don't need 500apm to be optimal
Agree but autoqueue on military is controversial, I'm not sure which side to join

This was an amazing match! showing the end game of a match unlike most matches that end after 18ish minutes this one almost took half an hour!
One of the most epic games from the wololo. Wam had good early iniciative and late defense but really bad timing in casting godpowers

What an amazing game! Fun to see some real late game

Even Rank 1 made the mistake of losing him after taking his eyes off the Zappyboi for a few seconds.

The Phoenix is super overrated though I'd like to bust out the mummies if this actually is worth losing meteor storm
lovely eggy aggression
