    Thank you clear concise and short and the best explanation and display of how it works. The things like noting the rear bias for sport, and the sand mud explanation and then showing how the tires are moving is great. Thanks The Cherokee Trailhawk is NOT a wrangler but it is the best "passenger car" small SUV four wheeler out there.

      Appreciate it! Yes I love how comfortable it still is being this capable.

      In my opinion as an owner. It's the best true weekend warrior/ daily driver vehicle for the price. If I wanted a Wrangler, I would have bought one. But I hit mild trails and drive to work in mine daily without any worries of damage, comfort, and fuel economy ( V6).......buy the V6 !! Lol

    Never had a problem in auto mode driving in snow. We live in one of the worse areas for lake effect snow, the southern tip of Lake Michigan between La Porte and South Bend, IN. Of course I've been driving 50+ years so I had to learn without relying on modern day computers.
    We had our XJ for 304,000 miles. The wife's 2019 KL is nice but too many electronics can't be fixed with duct tape and a screwdriver. I now drive an 09 Liberty KK, which we take to the mountains of Colorado and southeastern UT.

    Nice explanation! We own this vehical and not any family member has tired any of the different modes because the snow hasn't arrived yet and this would be my wife's first winter driving! Should be awesome to know snow mode actually works for its intended use! Then I don't have to worry about another issue

    One thing that you should have included, especially with this being a Trailhawk, is that when you're in deep enough snow that binds you down, you can turn this thing into a tank by doing 2 things:
    1. Put on some chains or cables (all 4 wheels!)
    2. Drop it into 4Lo and Rock mode
    What you get out of this is that you'll have no spin whatsoever, you don't even need to use the locker, tons of power, and 1st gear remains enabled. But if you need to engage the locker, it's there if you really needed it. This is for low-speed deep snow, thick snowpack, or ice however - NOT high-speed on the highway.
    Warning: Due to the Trailhawk still not having nearly the clearance as a Wrangler or other similar vehicle (even with a lift), and because of the shape of the nose and low-hanging/snow-grabbing suspension, you can still get high-centered by the snow itself, so there is a limit no matter how much traction you have.

      Thanks for the tips!

      You do know Jeep does not recommend chains. I believe it will void your warranty.
      Use your lockers if the shtf.

    can the snow mode be used for winter driving on the highway? So leaving the house with snow mode on and just keeping it in that mode? or is it limited to a speed?

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can although it only goes up to 6th gear so you will want Auto for highway. In addition it starts out in 2nd gear from start & keeps headlights on.

    I have the 2020 Trailhawk. I’m a newbie to 4x4 stuff, and we just got a crap load of snow. Is my best bet just putting it in on SNOW mode, or is there another button to get the 4x4 option? Will snow mode automatically run the wheels the best way?

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Welcome! For the street yes Snow mode is your best bet unless you are going highway speeds it limits trans to 6th gear so switch to Auto on highway. In real deep snow mud is probably best bet.

    • @jakepayne2985
      @jakepayne2985 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarGuy11 It’s super slick, and about 10 inches of snow, so I’ll probably only be going 20-30 mph even on the highway/interstate. Thanks so much for responding. I will subscribe! Should I keep the suspension at the normal level, or raise it?

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh you have a Grand Cherokee? Normal suspension height should be able to clear any snow on the street.

    Has any of you ever had the 4wd temporary unavailable-overheated come on? I did a short crawl with the sand mud setting I'm. For 10-15 minutes and i got the warning.

    i just bought a 2022 cherokee trailhawk. The roads/highways become slick and snow covered a lot. My drive to work is on highway with a lot of down hills that tend to become slick .If i have jeep in snow mode how does it hold back on these hills when they are slick

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it never shifts above 6th gear in snow mode so should hold you back some.

  • @Haileysbeeuty

    Should I park then put it in the snow mode or while driving can I put it in the snow mode?

      You can switch into snow mode at any time.

  • @carlosvale8198

    What about rain?, you use the snow mode or auto mode?

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Auto because wipers activate 4wd.

  • @Daveinet
    @Daveinet 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would suggest that ROCK mode should apply to snow as well, because you can lock the rear axle. A locked axle does not torque steer as badly, so the vehicle should stay straighter. Also if you are ever stuck in snow, forcing all 4 wheels to turn greatly increases your odds of getting unstuck.

    • @CarGuy11
      @CarGuy11  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Daveinet Only thing with ROCK mode though is its limited to Low Range 4wd.

    • @SorryForTheBird
      @SorryForTheBird 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you suggest wrong because a locked rear axle makes no sense when all tires have the same bad grip on snow.

  • @mygiguser

    Never, do donuts in a 4WD vehicle.
