  • I set up my tarp and settled down for the night, only to see lights moving around in the forest. I got spooked, packed up my camp in the dark and headed back to my car, where I spent the night under the milky way

I think my favorite aspect of your channel is that you're not afraid of showing trips that don't go perfectly. It's absolutely right to bail if you don't feel comfortable and it's great that you show that instead of suffering through a miserable night

She always takes risks. Unnecessary ones too. Some of the terrain she traverses is just bad choice for a solo camper. People who backpack tend to stay on well-established paths, not climb over jagged rock outcroppings for the scenic views. Her choice of places to pitch aren't the best either.

I totally get you, Claire! Where I live there are bears, lynx, wolverines, moose and the occasional wolf roaming around. Once again you've captured a lovely relaxing scene Claire...until the suss bit
I remember as a young solo surfer camping in the 70's. A group of wanna be crims/bikers came from nowhere in the night. Started threatening and stole my surfboard
Now 67, I'm still haunted by that night...but still solo camping and surfing 😉
    Thanks again

Good call on bugging out Claire! Most people are good intentioned but criminals drive too. Go with your gut feeling always and you will be stronger for it. I have spent months in the desert sleeping lightly because of who might be coming our way with bad intentions. Funny though I grew so used to sleeping in the open fresh air and looking up at the stars that it took weeks to get used to sleeping indoors!😅 Take care, stay safe and please carry some sort of protection. Thanks for taking us along😊

I am always learning something from you. Too bad you had to pack up. Bravo for being cautious. “Present fears are less than horrible imaginings.” William Shakespeare, Macbeth. When you walk in the wild and up mountains, even during daylight hours, people say hello much more than in towns and cities but you can always sense that they are worried you're a danger to them in the middle of nowhere. Sad fact of life.

Once someone walked past my tent 1 in the morning and started to talk to me whilst his dog was barking away, I asked him to leave but he came back 10 mins later and eventually I had to pack up and go. He was strange saying I looked like a UFO had landed in the woods. Love your videos and places you visit. Hope your ankle gets better soon

Same Clare, I'm a guy, and even I don't like seeing other Homo sapiens, once I've set camp in the bush. I know the local bush animals will leave me alone, but Homo sapiens I'd rather avoid.
It's more during winter I've seen people, usually out on the frozen lakes.
Good on you for following your gut feeling, and bailing.
