    This is one of the only videos I've found where it has a fixed pipe inlet, as opposed to the modern Flexi-pipe connections.
    Unfortunately, the major point you missed out in the video was to how you finally tightened the connection to the shank of the inlet valve. I had great trouble with mine unwinding and spinning the shank of the valve to the cistern as I tightened the nut! Eventually, I had to pull off the top section of the valve, leaving the stem only, and then use grippers to hold the shank from spinning, hopefully not causing too much damage to the shank (headache!!!!).
    I used PTFE tape on mine, didn't have any jointing compound, but I'm hoping it holds. I put a new washer in too. If it starts to leak again in the coming days, I'll have to go back with some Boss Green Joining compound. Wished that stuff came in tubes, so it lasts longer. Such a wasted buying a big 400g tin for just one or two uses.
    Good video, thank you.

    Thank you so so so much. I have found the valve to stop the water flow. I will sort out the actual problem when i have the stiff I need. No more water coming through the ceiling.

    Thanks so much for posting this tutorial. I just replaced my supply line, but the leak persisted. The flush valve works fine and the threaded connection appears intact. Hopefully this solves the problem.🙄

    It's great and th-cam.com/users/postUgkxZ7xR4U1TX3HwZZ84K6KfzVTyrqxaZ3jZ , a little bit too tall. I only like an inch. But overall well worth everything. The worst part of this was the Toto seat, poorly made hinge slides from side to side

    Thank you very much I have exactly this issue. I was aware of using PTFE tape but did not think of jointing compound. I'm off to Wickes now! Much appreciated it saves me calling out a plumber and will give me some man points with SHMBO.

      @@louiseg2110 just trying to fix mine now , the washer was rotted so new washer but still leaked , i asked my brother a plumber who was supposed to fix it but has been unwell said he has proper washer in case mine isnt and said i needed to apply some plumbers mate (compound ) , this i think goes agianst ceramic inside cistern with washer on top , but not sure so i will have to check might be both sides of washer , ill try and get back when i find out and job is done as im wary of over tightening things ,

    This is probably a silly question: how come the water from the cistern didn't come flushing out when the nut was undone? Is it because the valve was isolated?

    • @Goodzillla1066
      @Goodzillla1066 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. He turned the Isolation valve so the groove was across the pipe direction (90 degree turned)

      @@Goodzillla1066 so the water from the cistern won't spill out once the pipe is taken off?

    Hi, i have just started work in a hospital as a maintenance technician, and i am quite new to plumbing, one of the most common leaks we get with the toilet is water coming from the bottom of the toilet, would that be due to the pan connector ?

    can I just turn the isolation valve to stop the leak, then sort out how to do it??

    • @manpower3000
      @manpower3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always turn off isolation valve, but then flush toilet and empty water residue with an old small hand towel or absorbent cloths (wring out into toilet bowl) .. otherwise water is cistern will just leak into the pipe you're working on
