GREAT video as usual! I'm thinking that my hooking issues may not just be a result of the new blower set-up, (totally different power curve), or the track prep/heat in the track, but I have 20 runs on these Goodyear slicks, it may be time to change them. My last set, which were Mickey Thompsons, only lasted 20 runs.

My buddy bought a 23 GT500. Cost more than his house honestly lol. He put drag radials and went 9.89/9.90. We don't have to humidity and heat y'all have though. Thanks for sharing brother 👍
You definitely have the right idea, drive your car track and run 150mph low 9's. That's awesome. I'm old and remember when 14's was fast for a street car. Here you are doing it on a factory tire..wowser technology has changed and I'm still stuck in the 80's lol 🤣
👍 It’s awesome that Ford offers such a 760HP beast right off the showroom floor. We’ve raced a few over the last several years, and they are usually traction limited. A good burnout with a drag radial gives it a chance to exploit all that power 😃
Yes, and at 10:53 of this video the COPO runs an 8.75. His 5.62 eighth mile pass at the end (20:15) is another easy 8-sec pass if the track at Showtime wasn’t shortened for safety reasons 😃
You had a nice variety of races. The "Stratus" was a monster! It was unfortunate that Greg didn't get good runs against you, but it was nice to see his earlier speedy run with better traction. It would have been nice to see the Shelby GT500 run against you (I love that color) but you probably would have walked him, so No Time, and the late leave. it was fortunate that it didn't rain after all.
👍For sure Dean! We’ve had so many rainouts lately; this is the pattern in Florida summers. And now Bradenton Motorsports Park is on a 17-day hiatus to allow their employees to take a vacation all at the same time. We might only get one or two race nights in the month of July 🫤
I already knew the COPO and GT500 wouldn't have anything for you. My friend had a GT500 Shelby super snake back in 06 I think and I destroyed it in my bolt on 04 cobra with 500rwp lol.
@@wg8561We weren’t too concerned about the GT500 either, as we believe he’s running high 9s (not stock, of course). This COPO has run some 8.30s at this track on other nights (and an 8.75 earlier on this same night as shown at 10:55). Yet he’s clearly having consistency issues 👍

Popular question. It’s because they are money hustlers that have to keep their performance secret. They need to convince some poor sucker that their car is slower. Let’s say they are running 8s. They find an 9-second car and convince him to race for a cash bet. Then, “surprise”, their car is suddenly faster. We don’t run for money out of principle. And also because the characters involved are often shady; many will find ways to cheat when money is at stake 💰

Glad you’re back, we missed you. I’ve loved drag racing most of my life and understand what it takes to keep an ice car going. I’m just curious to know what type of maintenance is required for the Plaid? Other than tires, have you had any motor or battery replacement? It seems like your car is so consistent with little to nothing to do. Thanks, Ronnie
After 22,500 miles and around 900 dragstrip runs over 34 months, this Plaid has had $800 in maintenance costs: One set of brake pads. Still running on the original set of tires. Also replaced the keyfob battery, that’s maybe $2 👍

A quick question. Have you ever had the Plaid bog down when you launch? It happened to me twice at Sumerduck this week where my car simply sat there after I released the brake. It sat for about 1 1/4 seconds and then pulled away.???
Just once when it was new; The setting for “Obstacle Aware Acceleration” was turned on. It’s a good safety feature, but sucks at the track. That’s why we use a separate Driver Profile with all our *race* settings, so that our “street driving” Profile can still have all these kinds of features turned on. We set many things differently, including the suspension (soft for the street) and seating position (a helmet makes a difference for 6’4” tall drivers).

@@alexd302 A full weight Plaid is very unlikely to crack 6.0 in the 1/8th. After about 300 runs, we had just a single 5.99 pass. Just once under perfect conditions. Then we started taking weight out… And if the car is riding in 21”s, then there is no chance whatsoever.
There’s a small chance for a 5.99, *but conditions need to be perfect* with a well-prepped track and no headwind, plus some technique also. (Find the best line, roll thru for glue, super shallow stage, Peak Performance around 0-2 minutes remaining, launch control just barely “Ready”, etc) See also: th-cam.com/video/r1Gnjh5mrVs/w-d-xo.html

Good runs! I wanted to bring my 2024 Model 3 Performance there that night but I don't have a fire jacket yet. It should run around 10.8 so it's my understanding I'll need that in addition to my helmet.
Bradenton Motorsports Park has these rules posted at racebmp.com: Fire jacket mandatory 11.99 and quicker, fire jacket, pants and gloves mandatory 9.99 and quicker or exceeding 135 mph. (All open body vehicles 11.99 (*7.49) & quicker jacket, gloves and arm restraints mandatory). Neck collar mandatory in all cars running 9.99 (*6.39) or quicker or exceeding 135 mph. (Dune buggy type vehicles 12.00 and slower, jacket, gloves & arm restraints mandatory). Parachute mandatory on any car running 150 mph or faster. Full‐length pants; short‐or long‐sleeved shirt; closed shoes; and socks. No shorts. No tank tops. No open‐toe shoes or open‐heel shoes or sandals. Synthetic clothing not recommended.
I'll bet you'll never meet someone faster on a normal street. One of the coolest things about Teslas are the fact that they basically can run those same times (or close) on a normal street. Most of the cars that can beat you on a prepped track wouldn't stand a chance on a normal street.
@@wg8561 Facts 100%. Without a burnout to warmup the tires, what chance would any RWD car have? Especially from a dig? From a roll, some turbo builds might have a chance, but we don’t consider that to be drag racing. The only competition that drives into the track (instead of on a trailer) that we’ve been impressed with on the street are the 1400+ HP twin-turbo Lamborghini and Audi V-10s with AWD. We’ve seen them run low 8s at 170MPH. But we’re talking a quarter million for those builds💰, and they sometimes spin and break parts, although they’re not as fragile as the 8-second GT-Rs. Yet these are so rare, we’ve never actually seen them driving somewhere (outside of their way into the dragstrip)

Now we’re doing the “reliable low 9s” thing 😃. (We notice that guys say that BvB thing much more to the Teslas than the stock Demons, Hellcats, Vettes, Camaros, Mustangs, etc. Can’t imagine why? 🤔)
That “Dodge Stratus” didn’t originally have that 572ci nor the Powerglide transmission. In fact, that car doesn’t have a single part from the showroom floor…

After competing the build, I stuck those on the car. Built 3 Camaros by 19 years old. (‘69 Rally Spirt 327, ‘74 350, ‘78 Z28) But what do I know? That was 1983. Drag racers know the difference between tenths and hundredths. Our ET dropped a whole tenth with the rear seats out, giving us a substantial edge when we need it. The 30-40 pounds of a cooler and fire extinguisher are why it doesn’t run 9.1x every pass, which is inevitably the question we get with almost every video we post. (“Why only 9.22 and not 9.19 like last month?”) We aren’t looking for gratuitous Comments and Questions to drive algorithmic views. *We seek to inform our audience with the first viewing* 😃 Comments are always welcome if questions remain. Ps: Drag racers also know that every ~100 lbs is generally worth a tenth, and therefore every 10 pounds is worth a hundredth (We’ve got 30-40 extra lbs here, that’s why the 0.03-0.04 difference from our best pass with full traction 👍)

Best Reaction Time of all 5 races? The 0.013 in the first race. On a foot brake. If you knew anything about this sport you wouldn’t be spouting such nonsense 🤪
Popular question. Many reasons: 1) QUICK cars run out of gear long before 1320 feet. With 4.56s and a Powerglide, hitting over 130MPH in the 1/8th mile means redline happens shortly after 660feet. 2) Racers say: “Most parts break on the back half of the track.” 3) Most races are already decided in the first 660feet. But of course, drivers of slow street cars (like stock Mustangs, Camaros, etc) can barely hit 80MPH in the 1/8 mile, so they need a longer track just to get up to a measly 100MPH. These are the drivers who try to claim that 1/8th isn’t legit, not the real racers. Fun fact: Top Fuel and the quickest cars shortened their passes long ago and don’t run 1/4 mile anymore. (Not even the cars from Street Outlaws, which can hit 200MPH in an 1/8th mile)

Stock GT500s dont run 9s man. They are mid to high 10s in good DA on a tire with 1.6 60ft.

Drag racers know the difference between tenths and hundredths. Our ET dropped a whole tenth with the rear seats out, giving us a substantial edge when we need it. The 30-40 pounds of a cooler and fire extinguisher are why it doesn’t run 9.1x every pass, which is inevitably the question we get with almost every video we post. (“Why only 9.22 and not 9.19 like last month?”) We aren’t looking for gratuitous Comments and Questions to drive algorithmic views. *We seek to inform our audience with the first viewing* 😃 Comments are always welcome if questions remain.
Ps: Drag racers also know that every ~100 lbs is generally worth a tenth, and therefore every 10 pounds is worth a hundredth (We’ve got 30-40 extra lbs here, that’s why the 0.03-0.04 difference from our best pass with full traction 👍)

Three of those drivers were on a trans brake and button (all but me and the GT500).

1/8 mile bracket racing why ? 1/4 mile is bad enough . It’s like watching weeds grow.
Popular question. Many reasons:
1) QUICK cars run out of gear long before 1320 feet. With 4.56s and a Powerglide, hitting over 130MPH in the 1/8th mile means redline happens shortly after 660feet.
2) Racers say: “Most parts break on the back half of the track.”
3) Most races are already decided in the first 660feet.
But of course, drivers of slow street cars (like stock Mustangs, Camaros, etc) can barely hit 80MPH in the 1/8 mile, so they need a longer track just to get up to a measly 100MPH. These are the drivers who try to claim that 1/8th isn’t legit, not the real racers.
Fun fact: Top Fuel and the quickest cars shortened their passes long ago and don’t run 1/4 mile anymore. (Not even the cars from Street Outlaws, which can hit 200MPH in an 1/8th mile)
